Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

At my home one again this week. A bit quicker than last week and weather was much nicer ie cooler. Although it did start pouring with rain as I finished!

LizziesTwin · 15/07/2023 21:09

Really struggled with my breathing again today, laps in parks are a nightmare with my hay fever. Very high heart rate. But another volunteer credit & run credit.

IVFlife · 15/07/2023 23:13

Hello. New yo this thread but not yo parkrun. I was timekeeping today with a migraine which was interesting. Tomorrow am number checking at juniors.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 22/07/2023 10:46

A fast and flat one today. I ran my fastest post Covid parkrun and Strava recorded a 5k pb 😃😃🎉🎉

Yorkshiregold · 22/07/2023 12:06

Great work @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun! I’m also counting post covid PBs. I had a steady run round my home parkrun & got finished before the rain started which was a bonus. I also got date bingo.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 22/07/2023 12:34

Great work @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun and @Yorkshiregold I had a steady home run too, with a few miles added on afterwards in the rain. Third week in a row we’ve had a wet parkrun, which is unusual for us.

BogRollBOGOF · 22/07/2023 14:55

Back to my local parkrun for the first time in a couple of months. Actually I had been there in that time, but for volunteering. I've been exploring and visiting a range of courses and getting a range of course bests.

The cool and rain made for fast running for me. I wanted to test myself a bit and was very pleasantly surprised at the outcome, and I wasn't the freshest either, but wanted make the most of the weather to test myself.

I was in Poland this weekend so completed Zielony Jar parkrun collecting my Z and also for namely challenge🤭.

I would say there were more British than Polish there😅. 4 lapper (ouch) but the volunteer team were amazing and so friendly, we had a wonderful experience and have got the jetsetter bug!

BogRollBOGOF · 25/07/2023 17:06

I've had a look at finish time bingo for the first time, and I'm impressed at how many I have. 11 numbers to get. I'm working towards my 100 runs this year, and it's a pretty even spread of seconds which has been a nice surprise.

IVFlife · 25/07/2023 23:03

I am run director this week - so hard in school hols to get volunteers as our usual duke of edinburghs are away!

We did one in Poland in 2019 (Zamek w Malbork) and it was mostly full of Brits!

I also have 11 left to go in stop watch bingo. Most of mine are in the 20s and 40s.
My favourite time is 5 seconds which I’ve done 5 times (103 runs in total).

Rather more to go for position bingo - 38 to go. favourite one is 54 which will be nearly always 154 at my local parkrun. No matter what time I do or how many people there are I often finish in the 150s 😃

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 29/07/2023 09:56

I’m in London for the weekend so was at Highbury Fields today. Probably the most urban one I have done with five laps and around 500 people. Very friendly people and a gentle hill that got steeper with each lap!

I’m not doing very well at the alphabet challenge but I think I should make an H challenge as this is my 6th. I could call it HHHHip HHHOP or something 😏

Yorkshiregold · 29/07/2023 11:21

Well done @SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun. The only 5 lapper I’ve done before is Clitheroe Castle, that also has a hill that got steeper!
I had another run round my home run today but might try a new course in the next few weeks.

NatMoz · 29/07/2023 11:21

I ran a local one today i hadn't done since December! Was all good until i desperately needed a wee so had to go off the path and into a bush! Probably lost a couple of mins on my time as a result but oh well! Desperate measures😅

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 29/07/2023 12:26

Hello runners. Long Eaton for me today, I’m visiting my parents and it’s about halfway and very close to the M1. Nice and fly and my fastest outing since February.

MirandaWest · 29/07/2023 14:38

Did my local one Heslington this morning. Is in York but as there’s horse racing the actual York parkrun was cancelled so there were more people at Heslington today. It’s a 5 lapper but flat which suits me😃

Was in the 250s today despite being a bit quicker than I have been recently - I’m guessing some fast people who are usually at York came along.

LizziesTwin · 31/07/2023 19:17

A new park run for me on Saturday and a much better run than for a while. The people at Old Deer Park in Richmond are very friendly. Volunteered as a Marshall before the event so got a new volunteer post.

Yorkshiregold · 05/08/2023 21:13

Did anyone make it to parkrun this morning? We managed to escape most of the rain at my home run. It absolutely smashed it down on my way home though.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 05/08/2023 21:58

Yes! I went to a local-ish parkrun and got absolutely soaked. It was good fun though, ran at a steady pace with a friend and chatted all the way round. Excellent coffee and cake afterwards as well.

Fizbosshoes · 05/08/2023 22:23

Yep, I've barely been to parkrun at all this year but chose a day when it pelted down!

NatMoz · 06/08/2023 06:06

I went to my NENDY and it was absolutely torrential. We were celebrating someone's 50th birthday so there was cake afterwards but WOW I've not run in rain like that for a while!

There were still close to 200 at the one i attended considering

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 06/08/2023 07:19

The weather held off for us despite storm warnings. I was on timing yesterday and we had around average turnout. Great morning.

LizziesTwin · 06/08/2023 11:48

Over 200 at my regular PR, got my fastest time since April when I started a 5k improvement programme but then became ill & then hit by hay fever. Still 40 seconds off my PB but 2 mins faster than early June when the hay fever was shocking. Got soaked but had a spare top & a rain jacket for bar code scanning & token sorting.

CalmConfident · 06/08/2023 17:17

Got totally drenched yesterday 🌧️
