Hi everyone,
it's been a while since we've had a thread for Parkrunners to share how their run went. So if you ran today , which event were you at, how did you go and if you have the 5K app, did you get any new achievements?

I'm in Australia, so we are at the start of our summer and it was a sunny morning in the low 20s so great for a run. I was at Mosman (Sydney) with my son, it's a 3 lap, out and back course with a short steep hill at the turnaround , that seems longer and steeper each lap.
I came about half-way and the only 5K app achievement I got was for Date Bingo.

Hope everyone else had a good day too

I ran Delamere today to get my D for Alphabeteer and we spent the day afterwards at Chester Zoo!

It's been lovely! Weather gorgeous!

CalmConfident · 20/05/2023 21:08

500th event at Northampton today ☺️

QueSyrahSyrah · 20/05/2023 21:51

Great run today, I managed under 30 minutes again which has been my goal for a while since loosing my running mojo, and new runner DH is happy as he finally beat my PB that I got years back when I was running much more often.

We had a regular runner get his 150 today, he didn't start running until he was already in his 80s! I love that Parkrun really is for everyone.

HarrogateMum · 21/05/2023 08:24

Can I join in? Since starting parkrun early 2022 I've become obsessed like so many others! Home one is Harrogate which is not the most exciting but close to fountains to do that and so many within an hour's drive. Went up to Darlington south park yesterday, beautiful day for it. What I most love is finding a beautiful park in the middle of what are sometimes less beautiful areas. That plus breakfast afterwards which is sometimes smashed avocado on toast in an artisan cafe and sometimes full English in a pub depending on location!!

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 21/05/2023 13:21

Hello @HarrogateMum , I know exactly what you mean. I’ve found a few hidden gems in unlikely places. Armley comes to mind, but there are others too.

HarrogateMum · 21/05/2023 16:52

Lister park which is the Bradford one is beautiful! I'm already planning my retirement doing coastal ones

NatMoz · 22/05/2023 08:00

I just adore the Parkrun community! I'm in awe of the 80 year olds running, love the challenges (Stopwatch Bingo will turn me grey), love how you can just randomly strike up conversation with others and not feel remotely odd about it.

What i also like is that if we are planning trips away, squeezing a parkrun in, is a great way to explore new places you may have previously overlooked. I've used parkrun as a comfort stop before on the way down from the North West to Devon/Cornwall!

Don't get me started on how much i loved Eden Project Parkrun with the free access to the domes afterwards😍😍😍😍😍

HarrogateMum · 26/05/2023 15:12

Where's everything going tomorrow?

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 26/05/2023 16:30

I'm volunteering at my home parkrun. Timekeeping <wibble>

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 27/05/2023 07:06

The new (ish) local (ish) one 😃. The whole family are coming this morning - my youngest for the first time in a very long time. She is over 11 now so can do her own thing in theory. I may find myself walking with her though in practice.

Lemonyyy · 27/05/2023 07:55

A local beauty spot finally got its own park run about 4 weeks ago so I am finally making my way down for my first park run ever this morning. Wish me luck! Going to run the 3k there as well.

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 27/05/2023 10:05

@Lemonyyy hope you had a great time. I walked 2 k of the course with my DD this morning. It was a beautiful day and we both enjoyed it but the parkrun geek in me is feeling sad not to get the run credit.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 27/05/2023 16:49

Hope you enjoyed your first parkrun @Lemonyyy

@SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun glad you and your daughter enjoyed, even if you didn't do the whole thing.

My timing went well - the other timer and I stayed in sync all the way through, but we accidentally zapped a family that hadn't done the whole course and didn't take tokens - at least we knew where we had gone wrong. I love seeing the runners coming in. Today's first finisher was a woman, who broke her own course record.

And I got date bingo, which I didn't realise counted if you didn't run.

Next week is a biggie for me - my 250th parkrun, 50th volunteer and double-ton at my home run (the latter is serendipity rather than planning). There will be cake!

CalmConfident · 28/05/2023 19:47

Amazing synchronised milestone planning @OhOneOhTwoOhThree ☺️

CalmConfident · 28/05/2023 19:50

A successful parkrun weekend for us. A PB for DS1, DH returned after a 5 year break…but I missed my final missing stopwatch bingo by 1 second AGAIN (
I need 06…I now have 8x 05 and 5x07 🤣)

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 28/05/2023 23:43

I hear you @CalmConfident. I am one off stopwatch bingo. Managed 2 in February, and 2 more in the whole of 2022. As I’m tail walking on Saturday maybe I can arrange for a suitable finish time, even if it means hovering for 59 seconds at the finish.

NatMoz · 29/05/2023 05:28

Have been in the Lake District this bank holiday so went to Fell Foot parkrun on Saturday! Can't beat running along lake Windermere!

Due to busy Saturdays i won't run now at parkrun for 6 weeks!

parkrunner1977 · 30/05/2023 10:06

We travelled to The Netherlands for the weekend to take advantage of the additional parkrun there yesterday. On Saturday we went to Zuiderpark which also meant we completed the alphabet challenge, and then yesterday we ran at Kagerzoom. There were so many tourists that all the attendance records for the Dutch parkruns were smashed this weekend! Off to do the Denmark & Sweden double next weekend with the additional special events taking place there next Monday & Tuesday. That will also take us up to 8 different countries on the World Tourist challenge.

Oh my! You are my inspiration! I would love to do an international double. Maybe i can try and book one in with my running friend next year🤣. I'm doing Zielony Jar (Poland) in July and it'll be my first international one

I too will be in Denmark and Sweden next week. That will take me to 5 countries.

Whinlatter for us today... great parkrun... tough but I'd go back...

The end of a great week in the lakes for half term ... can't remember a better week weather wise in 30 odd years...

CalmConfident · 03/06/2023 14:40

Brixworth today, gorgeous morning to be running next to the reservoir. It was event 111 so quite a few tourists, it was a surprise as I already had that Nelson number - just fancied a change from my local :)

SerenadeOfTheSchoolRun · 03/06/2023 15:57

Local seaside one today with DS and DH. Sunny and lovely. Saw a volunteer 500 t shirt ‘in the wild’ for the first time.

One of them passed me yesterday as did a few 500 run t shirts.

Bumped into so many friends I hadn't seen for a while. It really was great. So tiring though.

Were you in Sweden? I’m very jealous if so. Sounds amazing.
