I'm in absolutely no way qualified to start this thread but I couldn't see another one!

So after nearly 2 weeks of not running with plantar fasciitis issues, I've just done W6R1! I thought I'd go back a bit a build up gradually but it was actually ok considering I haven't run in so long. I haven't lost it completely as actually felt a bit like a runner! 🥳 We'll see how my heels are later today...

And I got back home just before the hail hit!

Hope anybody else running this morning is enjoying the crazy weather!

Haha yes they do look cute, I dont have any pics of them in it tho.
Still didn't run this morning 😕 fell off my horse last night and so feel a bit achy and crap this morning. Plus seems today is the last day of the heatwave, forecast has rain here for tomorrow so will definitely run tomorrow morning!

emilyjeff · 17/06/2021 09:15

Been for my first run in a week! Was lightly raining and it was quite nice and refreshing. Kind of messed up as my garmin session was hill repeats and for some reason I thought it was 6x, turned out to be 8x but I just skipped the last two!
Glad to have been out, still feels so warm in the house though 🥵

BarryTheKestrel · 17/06/2021 10:31

Good work everyone for keeping it up!

Went and had my knee checked out yesterday and I've managed to get a tear in the medial ligament so a knee brace for a month and no running until physio says it's OK. I'm actually gutted. I'd got to week 3 and was starting to enjoy running and now I'm out of action for an indefinite period of time. Will be back to square one when I get back out there.

PossiblyPertunia · 17/06/2021 21:45

Oh @BarryTheKestrel that's so rough :( my husband is an Osteopath and specialises in running injuries so I'm very lucky to have someone on hand for all my aches and pains!

I got a new PB for my 5k last night at 30.54 which I'm so proud with. Running in the light rain was heavenly! Still failing at upping my distance though.

purplesequins · 17/06/2021 21:48

barry good you got your knee seen to. I hope it heals well and you are able to continue.
do see a physio for exercises and stretches.

purplesequins · 17/06/2021 21:49

pertunia that's a good respectable time!

ExConstance · 18/06/2021 10:24

Poor you, Barry, the thing with running is that you really wan't to do it when you can't, but not so much when you can!
Emilyjeff - a Horse! Oh, I would so like to have a horse again.

Well today I set out on the first of the 28 minute runs, week 8, As I felt OK at the mini roundabout, my official stop point, I ran on to the special tree and was quite surprised to have done 30 minutes, so I'm on a real high n;ow. It isn't 5k though, I need to go a little bit further just past a canl bridge to achieve that, but the end is in sight!

purplesequins · 18/06/2021 15:52

I went to a lokal running group yesterday.
it was very interesting, the lead was a retired physio. most participants were lockdown c25k-ler.
we did 2k warm up, stretches and then 1k barefoot in 100m intervals.
ouch ouch ouch my calves really feel it today.
luckily the sport park is close to a beach so we had a wuick dip before cycling home.

if it fits in timewise I might go again. the physio gave really good pointers on posture and foot positioning.

GoingGently · 19/06/2021 17:30

W4R3 just done (again!). Very much stalled recently on the running but actually really enjoyed that.
Knicker elastic tells me I've been gaining weight so actually need to keep it up this time!!

TwoLeftElbows · 19/06/2021 21:51

Well done everyone on your runs, @purplesequins for braving running group and @BarryTheKestrel for getting the knee checked out. Sorry to hear it's such bad news.

I missed a couple of runs this week feeling ropey after my covid vac, but I managed W5R2 today.

emilyjeff · 20/06/2021 13:56

Hi ladies. Sorry to hear about the knee Barry, very frustrating. Well done everyone that's continuing with c25k. I did a long easy run today. DH was looking at a job so I went with him to run in a different area. It was a really nice route, paved cycle path and very flat. Managed 45 mins non stop running so don't think I've lost too much fitness from having a week off. So nice that the weather has cooled down too

Cavagirl · 20/06/2021 14:37

Well done emilyjeff !

I'm still plodding along here, first time out in over a week today 😬 but surprisingly managed a pb on one of the stretches of my route (according to Strava anyway!)

I think I need a new challenge though, I'm quite enjoying the regular 5k but I don't feel like I'm making a lot of progress now...may finally give the C210k a go (having been threatening to for about 2 months...!) Is anyone else on here doing it having done c25k?

purplesequins · 20/06/2021 14:44

not c210k but I am slowly adding to my long run.
however, not really with a plan though. I look more for routes I like and maybe add one loop of a nice stretch to add to the km.

I have to say the break after my vaccine and the heat I'm taking it a bit slower.

emilyjeff · 22/06/2021 08:31

Had to abort my goal pace repeats run this morning!
Left my running shoes in DHs van after Sunday, I have another pair that are half size bigger so put them on. They seemed OK during the warm up but once I started running faster I could feel my toes sliding around. Also I thought it gonna be a normal interval session, turned out its goal pace for 1k, then 200m recovery x5!! I hadnt given myself the right route or enough time for this- that'll teach me to read the planned session properly before setting off!
Anyway feeling a bit disappointed but I'll try again tomorrow morning.

PossiblyPertunia · 22/06/2021 10:30

@Cavagirl I'm doing the same as @purplesequins and just adding to my runs weekly. I managed 6.3km yesterday and think I could have kept going, it's the first time I thought I might be able to run the full 10k in September! Going to be doing my interval run tomorrow, it's definitely my favourite type of running!

I really really want to get my 5k time down to below 30 minutes just the once.

purplesequins · 22/06/2021 19:07

I've entered the teens and me into a 5k race in september.
I can see myself just scraping through and the teens flying.

emilyjeff · 22/06/2021 21:52

Ah thats great @purplesequins That used to happen to me taking DS2 to parkrun. He'd barely do any training, come with me and beat me by miles! So unfair 😒
I think I need to sign up to some races! There's a beat the sunset 5k in my local town that I quite like the look of. Then I'd quite like to find a 10k for autumn time

Lolly34h · 23/06/2021 09:16

I'm sitting on the sofa the headphones are charged my workout clothes are ready someone tell me doing week 1 run 1 won't kill me!

purplesequins · 23/06/2021 09:17

lolly you will be fine Smile
good luck!

Cavagirl · 23/06/2021 09:31

Yes lolly!!! Get out there, you'll feel bloody amazing when you get back!
One minute, it's one minute of running & then you get a rest. You can definitely do it! 💪

Lolly34h · 23/06/2021 10:00

Well I did it! I'm knackered but feel good!

emilyjeff · 23/06/2021 10:02

Ahh I hope you've been lolly and are now feeling pleased with yourself!
Second attempt at my goal pace intervals today and it was much more successful. Went about 8am and was already quite warm. Only managed 4 of the 1k repeats rather than 5 but I'll take that, my route wasn't really long enough for a fifth anyway!

emilyjeff · 23/06/2021 10:03

Cross posted! Well done @Lolly34h 👏

Cavagirl · 23/06/2021 10:06

@Lolly34h

Well I did it! I'm knackered but feel good!
🙌🙌🙌 well done lolly!!
TwoLeftElbows · 23/06/2021 13:45

Well done @purplesequins and @Lolly34h!!

I've done W5R3 and am feeling very proud of myself. 10 mins in I remembered something from a previous incarnation of this thread, saying the first 10 mins are always tough but then it gets easier. That helped so much! (even if it isn't quite true for me yet, I know it has been, and can be again.)
