I'm in absolutely no way qualified to start this thread but I couldn't see another one!

So after nearly 2 weeks of not running with plantar fasciitis issues, I've just done W6R1! I thought I'd go back a bit a build up gradually but it was actually ok considering I haven't run in so long. I haven't lost it completely as actually felt a bit like a runner! 🥳 We'll see how my heels are later today...

And I got back home just before the hail hit!

Hope anybody else running this morning is enjoying the crazy weather!

Evening, is everyone still running?
I've been very hit and miss, didn't end up sticking to the Garmin plan 😒 Haven't run for a week now, planning to do a short one tomorrow, prob 2.5k. I think going forward I'll just aim for twice a week, it's more realistic, 2 or 3 miles one day during the week and then a longer one on the weekend. Right, well I've written it here now so I'll have to stick to it!

Well doing my own plan wasn't working out so well, I only ran once last week! Decided garmin plan may be better so created one yesterday. Just been out for my benchmark run but now my run for tomorrow says goal pace repeats 600m at 5 min/km then 200m recovery, six times! I'm gonna be dying!

teens and me are registered for a 5k race in march. looking forward to that.

yes, perfect running weather today.
we had some high winds and spring flood in the night so I had to run a different route to a oid the beach/coast and woods. did a relaxing (afterwards at least) 6k with one unexpected hill.

Well done Emily!
I did 5k today too, such lovely weather today! Feels like spring is on the way.
I need a target too, I'm debating biting the bullet and getting a garmin....

Hope everyone is well. Been out and did 5k this morning, bit hilly but bit quicker than last time. In total I've run 8 times in January, thought it would be worse tbh so fairly pleased with that. I always aim for 3x a week but doesn't usually happen!
Kind of feeling I need something to aim for now, may book a race. Or maybe a time goal for 5k

well done maple

I don't do park run, mainly because it's very early (9am) where I am. plus it's 15min cycle away. I'm usually not up that time on a weekend!

did a relaxed 6k today. tried to keep in mind what my physio said.
I think using my arms more made a difference. my legs feel less tired but I will certainly feel it more in my arms and shoulders.

You lot were so kind and encouraging a month ago when I was wondering about Parkrun. Just to say I finally started last week, did as much running as I could right near the back, and came back totally exhilerated and delighted to discover this great inclusive, encouraging community. I was back again this week, and excited to shave a massive 30 seconds (:) off last week's time. Its totally compulsive and I love the way you can then retabulate your results to give your age related position, or your position if you counted it in terms of how many park runs people have done. So if like me you were wavering, do give it a go. I'm overweight, mid 50s, didn't know anyone there. But I can see it is the start of being much fitter, less overweight, and overtime having some friends there.

Haha sounds good purple!
I went out on weds, did a hilly 4k. Planning to do a shorter faster one tomorrow, and then probably 5k again on Sunday. Got my motivation back a bit now, partly because I've got a good horsey podcast to listen to while I run!

swishy ponytail

sounds great emily

I tried a relaxed 5k today and the first 2k were just under 6min/k but then my body took over and I finished quite quickly without trying. last k was a 5.1\k.

felt good being out.

@emilyjeff

Did 5k this morning, just under 30 mins so pretty happy with that. Really surprised how easy its been getting back into it this time, normally it's such hard work and I feel annoyed with myself.
Undecided whether to sign up for a garmin plan or whether to just make my own. The garmin ones are good and definitely get results, it's just a bit more flexible doing it my way.

Well done, that's a good time!!
I'd go for doing it your own way then, although I've not tried a Garmin plan...yet!

back from my latest physio session.

she was pleased with my glutes and I'm pleased that my hip is getting better.

next week she says we will practice on the treadmill.

this one seem good.
at real tie pace so you can suffer with her in real time.
she says to do it before running, but that seems a bit much for my taste.

I ran!! Only 3k but didn't feel too bad, could've gone a bit further tbh but I'd reached a primary school and it was swarming with pedestrians. Planning to do another 3k at the weekend and then start stepping it up again

leg me see if I can find a useful youtube.

my physio gave me some nice exercises

  • dying beetle
  • crabwalk (with resistance band)
  • clams (with resistance band)
  • lounges
  • mermaid (sometimes called superman raise)

also when running pay attention to your feet. lift them as if you were stepping over broom handles.

I was going to go this morning but had such a bad night sleep I've decided to give it a miss.
I'm doing half an hour yoga every day. I need some exercises to work on legs, stomach and bum. Can anyone recommend any YouTube exercise videos please?

well done everyone.

pinky looks like you are well on the way. keep it up. maybe mix it up with intervalls a bit. and do some core strength exercises between runs.

I am still running but the christmas break and covid booster have reduced the frequency to once a week. doing more physio exercises and cycling and walking.
I hope to get back to one 5k and one 7-8k a week with the occassional running group session.

Nice work pink! I still didn't run 😞 very cold and frosty this morning so was another good excuse not to go. I absolutely will go tomorrow morning before work!!

3k done this morning no stopping. Slow progress getting back up to a 5k but I'm determined to do it!
