Third year for me aiming to be as active as possible most days. So join me in setting a goal and keeping on track by logging on here Smile. I’ve set a 500mile run target this year to be realistic as I’ve nursed foot issues most of 2021 which really curtailed my running miles but sea swimming and trail running have developed into my passions. What’s your challenge this year?

@Run1000km2021

Oh man what a weekend!!! I ran my fastest 5km and fastest mile yesterday, and my fastest 10km and fastest half marathon today! I feel happy!

5km yesterday plus 21.1 today puts me at 84.2km!

Fantastic!!!
Run1000km2021 · 18/01/2021 14:54

Thanks guys! Just a slow 2.5km for me today with one of my kids. Trying to get out there every day if I can, it makes such a difference to my mood.

86.7 km done😊

ErrolTheDragon · 18/01/2021 15:20

9.7km

78.9 walked
16.5 rowed

TriSeaSwim2021 · 18/01/2021 15:48

Nipped down for a sunrise sea swim dip. I really felt the cold today needles on my thighs after only 2-3mins 🥶 but it was lovely to get out for only 8mins today in cossie & jacket. My youngest DD came down to watch me & the sunrise.

Running 71km
Swimming 1.5km
Cycling 15km

drspouse · 18/01/2021 18:10

Only a couple of km round the park with DD and now it's tipping it down. May see if it stops after the DC are in bed.

91 km Running
66 km Walking

Weneedmusicandtheatre · 19/01/2021 20:16

5km speed walk (no DC) this morning. Have updated my spreadsheet where I am keeping track to have a separate column for all the walking done with toddler. Makes sure i keep their activity levels high too.

Deepintheforest · 20/01/2021 11:52

Another 6km covered taking me to 50km sadly the last for a while as i went to a physio to get my shin/calf checked out and I've been told no running or walking for 2 weeks minimum potentially up to 12 weeks I'll find out based on how things are looking in 2 weeks time. Sadly I don't have a pool near by to get some low impact km in. Might have to buy an elliptical machine if it's not good news in 2 weeks Blush I might go mad with nothing to get my heart pumping for 3 weeks

drspouse · 20/01/2021 12:19

Oh Deep that's rubbish. I know a few on here use rowing machines, personally I have lower back problems and can't get the position right (I would probably need someone to teach me).

ErrolTheDragon · 20/01/2021 14:18

That's bad luck, Deep.
We're fortunate to have an elliptical and a rower in the garage. DH prefers the former, me the latter. It's a good one, a Concept2. I think you do get what you pay for with these machines, build quality makes a big difference. They do take quite a lot of room and are pretty heavy.
I ought to use that rower more on bad weather days but disturbed nights thanks to the poor old dog are rather sapping my enthusiasm and available energy.

drspouse · 20/01/2021 14:21

6k bike ride to pick up a parcel. Had my new bike gloves in, so I tried them out on the (wet) ride back.

LaLaLanded · 20/01/2021 18:50

Everyone’s doing so well! Particularly in this rotten weather. Praying for sun tomorrow!

Deep so sorry about your injury - hopefully it’s a 2 week break rather than 12... Sad

I took a couple of rest days after a fairly heavy running weekend. 10km today to start the week. 10-12km tomorrow I think.

Just a windy 3 Km today in fetching pink waterproof, as rain threatening. Its either seriously muddy or flooded everywhere......

I'm in - does walking also count or just run/cycle/swim?

I'm mainly walking with a bit of bike. Can't run due to hip problem.

Anything you can measure a distance on, I reckon!Smile
Deepintheforest · 21/01/2021 07:44

A rower is a good idea I quite enjoyed rowing machines when I visited gyms. Sadly we really don't have the room for one as the spare room has had to become an office. Fingers crossed I can at least return to walks in two weeks time

drspouse · 21/01/2021 10:19

I couldn't get anything done with any kind of machine or workout at home - I can do yoga before the DCs get up but I was trying to do a walking workout over the summer at home and the DCs just kept disturbing so it's better for me just to go out of the house! Luckily I can cycle even with a very slightly dodgy hip.

TriSeaSwim2021 · 21/01/2021 11:50

Hope the shin isn't shin splints deep take care I lost most of last year to foot & shin issues.

An early hours run 8.5km before work.

Running 79.5km
Swimming 1.5km
Cycling 30km

HapHap · 21/01/2021 15:12

Best of luck, Deep. Injury is beyond frustrating. Crossing my fingers for you.

Very wet longish run this morning taking me to 106.7km.

I have set myself half-marathon distance as a goal by March, I've never run that far before...
