Third year for me aiming to be as active as possible most days. So join me in setting a goal and keeping on track by logging on here Smile. I’ve set a 500mile run target this year to be realistic as I’ve nursed foot issues most of 2021 which really curtailed my running miles but sea swimming and trail running have developed into my passions. What’s your challenge this year?

I feel a bit better then @GwendolineWindowlene !

LaLaLanded · 13/01/2021 22:23

Hope everyone is ok today - miserable weather!

10km today on the treadmill. Very tired though.

102.9km/2021km running

nomorecheese · 13/01/2021 22:31

Just seen this! I signed up for 1000 miles in a year. Started on 1st Jan. Done 39 so far! (ahead of average by about 6 miles).

ErrolTheDragon · 13/01/2021 23:24

@drspouse

Another 3 k walked, I can't run so I feel a bit pathetic compared to some!
I think this thread is about mutual encouragement of everyone's individual challenges, not competitive - unless people with similar challenges want to buddy up to spur each other on, I suppose. I rather like the disparate challenges - km or miles, different distances and means of achieving them. Smile

I'm off to a slow start this year versus last, I think - partly because of the weather but also because our old dog has been waking us up in the night and I've been knackered. On the plus side I've been doing quite a lot of Pilates... shame that doesn't cover any measurable distance.Grin

Run1000km2021 · 14/01/2021 07:51

@nomorecheese are you using an app to see whether you are ahead or behind where you should be or are you just a maths wizz😂 I track my runs on the Garmin app but it doesn’t know about my years challenge

nomorecheese · 14/01/2021 08:00

@Run1000km2021 ha! Defo not a maths wizz!! Using an app called my missions (I think) so it keeps track of me so I don't lag behind and have to do 100 miles a day at the end of the year to catch up!

drspouse · 14/01/2021 08:20

I use runkeeper to track my yearly goal.

78percentLindt · 14/01/2021 10:53

I just use a spreadsheet. I record walk using Strava and the add them to it every few days. I set it up to calculate percentage of annual target as well, and if I have a Strava monthly goal, I can add that as well.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/01/2021 17:00

We got out this afternoon after it stopped sleeting. 9.5km

62.7 walked
16.5 rowed

Inniu · 14/01/2021 17:59

A short dog walk of 3k today and a 7k run.
Homeschooling is interfering with walking and running again

Walking 64.5
Running 52/948

drspouse · 14/01/2021 19:14

Just waiting to charge up my phone a bit and going out to collect my new bike helmet. Need a kick up the backside though, it's chilly out there.

MsConstrue · 14/01/2021 19:22

hi all, which app do you use to record walking? I use Strava for running (aiming for 1000km) but it doesn't record my walks.

Also, do you all run every day? I have done so far this year, but haven't yet today (did some yoga instead) ....

Thanks!

78percentLindt · 14/01/2021 19:26

@MsConstrue
You can swap between walking and running and cycling on Stava. Just click on the icon.

ErrolTheDragon · 14/01/2021 19:29

hi all, which app do you use to record walking?

Just my Apple Watch - and for the totals, this thread.Grin

MsConstrue · 14/01/2021 19:29

I record the walks on strava but it doesn't keep a tally for me like it does for running and cycling. Unless I'm missing something?

drspouse · 14/01/2021 19:59

Runkeeper, just select "walking".

LaLaLanded · 14/01/2021 20:21

@MsConstrue great username. I’ve never managed to make Strava tally walking, it only seems to automatically track running, swimming and cycling. Someone with better knowledge may come along or they do have an online help centre and forums.

You asked about running every day: I used to when I first started. I was scared if I missed a day, I wouldn’t start again! I now run 5-6 days a week but cover more distance than when I was doing every day. And my rest days are super restful - just some walking. I definitely feel the difference after a rest day in terms of energy in the legs. 2 rest days in a row and I’m bouncing around like a popcorn kernel in a pan!

10km on the treadmill today, 5km steady pace and then 5km in intervals. Outdoor run tomorrow, weather willing.

112.9km/2021km running

TriSeaSwim2021 · 14/01/2021 20:41

You can manually add stuff into Strava free version just click the plus button top right add.

Just a Hitt session and dog walk today so nothing on the totals. Hope to run & seaswim early tomorrow.

Running 53km
Swimming 1km

drspouse · 14/01/2021 20:46

Another 3k walk...

Run1000km2021 · 15/01/2021 09:08

58km done, 942 left!

@LaLaLanded wow that’s quite the goal you’ve got there! Really impressive. How many km did you do last year (sorry if you already said). I did 600km last year which was the most I ever did so 1000km feels like a lot already!

Deepintheforest · 15/01/2021 09:15

18km covered over the last week as several very short runs. Starting the year with some leg issues so not getting as far as I'd like Blush that's 44km in total

ErrolTheDragon · 15/01/2021 15:40

6.6km

69.3 walked
16.5 rowed

drspouse · 15/01/2021 17:40

4k with DD (mean mummy), past the 40k mark.

MsConstrue · 15/01/2021 18:07

so

I'm 56km running
152km cycling (indoors so far)
45 km walking

(would normally walk a lot further but no school runs....)

LaLaLanded · 15/01/2021 22:09

@Run1000km2021 it feels like a huge goal right now! I think I’ve spied a few people who have really massive goals...

I did 1,000 miles in 2020 so just over 1,600km. I started tracking in late April though and average mileage went up throughout the year so I reckon 2021km is doable in 2021. She says. Good luck with your target - you can absolutely do it! Consistency, and lots of stretching Smile

6km today - Friday slog! 118.9/2021km.
