Third year for me aiming to be as active as possible most days. So join me in setting a goal and keeping on track by logging on here Smile. I’ve set a 500mile run target this year to be realistic as I’ve nursed foot issues most of 2021 which really curtailed my running miles but sea swimming and trail running have developed into my passions. What’s your challenge this year?

Hmm could I start it in the morning and keep it going all day??

GwendolineWindowlene · 03/01/2021 11:46

It doesn’t work indoors, so unless you’re a postman that wouldn’t really be a goer.Grin

officelady · 03/01/2021 12:02

I love the fact that there is a wide variety of people on here from the super fit (5000 miles a year!!) to complete beginners. Well done everyone for keeping active Star
@JacktomyDaniel you can use the website www.mapmyrun.com/ to plan a route in advance. You need to create a login but it’s free and I often use it when I am trying to find a longer route or going somewhere new. Once logged in, go to Routes -> Create Route. I found it really useful when I was just starting out.

I managed a slow 4 miles today to add to 5k yesterday and 5k NYD.

Total so far: 16.8k achieved/983.2k remaining

TriSeaSwim2021 · 03/01/2021 13:07

Found my 2019 medal it was from virtual racing

Actually I don't want it to work indoors so that's fine!
Jumbojem · 03/01/2021 13:34

@TriSeaSwim99 that's a lovely looking medal!
Couple of runs done now. Feels good to get off the starting blocks, especially as return to work/home schooling looms which is going to make finding the time to run more tricky!

11.2/988.8

GwendolineWindowlene · 03/01/2021 14:06

Well, I reckon you'd be fine then, drspouse.

Jemenfouscompletement · 03/01/2021 14:26

Hi everyone, it is good to have goals, complicated without races at the moment! I only did one trail race in 2020 but its better than nothing!
In total I did 7020kms in 2020, only 10kms swimming in Jan before the pool shut, 620 cycling and 6400kms running. It was quantity rather than quality. Club sessions have started again so doing some interval training rather than just running with my indefatigable border collie or friends. Have a 32km trail race mid February but not sure it won't be cancelled...good luck to everyone and stay motivated!

ErrolTheDragon · 03/01/2021 15:53

Lovely bright day and only icy in a few places. 10.3km

17.3 walked
4km rowed

drspouse · 03/01/2021 16:27

Quick trial and it did count some of my walking indoors but not all so I'll try and turn it on when I head out or some time in the morning...

ErrolTheDragon · 03/01/2021 16:34

Stick a post-it to your walking shoesGrin

drspouse · 03/01/2021 17:03

Grin The door is a better bet as I walk in at least 5 different pairs!

Peanutbutterblood · 03/01/2021 18:07

Well done everyone so far! The snow here has really thrown me off, I'm so motivated to run but cant. Managed a 2km walk with my dds today, not much but I'm adding it, really need to get out and run

Run1000km2021 · 03/01/2021 18:12

@TriSeaSwim99 lovely medal!!!

I did another 3km today, that’s my daily minimum during RED January. 13 down, 987 to go!

hopewardrobe · 03/01/2021 18:18

2 mile dog walk this evening 988 miles to go

Stellashere · 03/01/2021 18:49

Another lovely walk with my mum today- well it was lovely till I went flying on the ice! Think I have a very bruised hip incoming

Anyway managed 16k despite the fall

26k to date Smile

LaLaLanded · 03/01/2021 19:06

@Stellashere hope you’re not too bruised! Ice pack perhaps? Although more ice probably not particularly welcome Xmas Blush

Evening all! 7.5k recovery run today. Spent most of it dodging groups of people who seemed to think that walking 4-abreast on pavements was a sensible thing to do. But it was a good run, just missed the rain too which was lucky.

Hi all, new to these threads, I recently completed couch to 5k and would love to manage 1000km of running + outside walks this year. Currently running 5km two or 3 times a week and I'm hoping to up my distance to do a half marathon in the summer. I also walk the dogs 2/3 times a week in addition to running so that will help me keep on top of the needed weekly kms while I increase my run distance

BellsaRinging · 03/01/2021 19:46

13k over the last 2 days of walking so am now at 979. Will see how I fare when I'm back wfh from tomorrow!

drspouse · 03/01/2021 20:24

Anyway 3.5k today so 6k total, 994 to go.

weekfour · 03/01/2021 20:51

I'd like to join in please.
I ran 11k in 01/01 and cycled 8k on 02/01. I'd like to run 1000k this year and hope to be able to cycle to work if I ever end up in the office again.

amysaurus87 · 04/01/2021 08:21

In the first 3 days of 2021 I've done 11.51 miles of walking! Running is 0 as I've not yet started Couch to 5K.

Walking: 11.51/1488.49
Running: 0/50

ReviewingTheSituation · 04/01/2021 08:32

@Run1000km2021 - I did the LEJOG challenge from My Virtual Mission last year. 1,083 miles. I got to the end at the end of Nov, so I challenged myself to do 1,200 in the year as a bonus (got there on New Year's Eve!)

The app was great - showed you where you were on the map, took an interesting route with some significant landmarks (they send you a postcard when you reach them), and it took my runs straight from Strava, but you could also add manually if you wanted to. They also plant a tree when you reach certain points.

They have loads of different challenges of different lengths, and very nice medals too.

Skade · 04/01/2021 10:23

Hi all, have just found this thread, I'd love to join in. I had Covid in April last year and my lungs were so crap afterwards. I decided to start doing some gentle walks from June onwards to try to improve them and completely fell in love with exercise again!

I now aim for 10km/15k steps a day and have also taken up running (currently working my way through None 2 Run) and run 5k three times a week. I spent New Years Day stomping through the Purbecks and managed to get 15 miles under my belt which felt like a good start.

I'm aiming for 2021 miles of walking in 2021, and just to work on improving my running - I don't want to set myself targets because I think it will put me off Grin I have a charity 33km walk over the Purbecks booked in for May which will hopefully spur me on.

Run1000km2021 · 04/01/2021 13:52

Another 5km done for me, 18km down, 982 to go🏃‍♀️
