Third year for me aiming to be as active as possible most days. So join me in setting a goal and keeping on track by logging on here Smile. I’ve set a 500mile run target this year to be realistic as I’ve nursed foot issues most of 2021 which really curtailed my running miles but sea swimming and trail running have developed into my passions. What’s your challenge this year?

Oh man @78percentLindt that sucks, I hope you recover soon!

Is managed to get in another 5k today which I didn’t think I had time for so it felt good!

LaLaLanded · 10/02/2021 23:05

78% so sorry to hear that - nightmare. Keep up the exercises, icing etc and we all have fingers crossed for a swift recovery. Is there any cross-training you can do?

I had a bit of a crappy running week last week - a few “bitty” runs and feeling demotivated, but managed to hit my weekly distance target. So far this week I did a 10km interval session on the treadmill yesterday and today forced myself out into the cold and did a really good 15km. I ran my 2nd best time at that distance and it felt well within capability, particularly as I don’t usually run as well in colder weather. Which I guess shows that all those crappy runs add up to something good! 5-8km recovery run tomorrow, probably on the treadmill.

Everyone is doing so well! Sadly I'm still only on 50km. The injured shin/calf isn't healing well so 2 weeks has already turned into 4 and looking at another 4 weeks before I can even think about starting up running again. I am however now allowed gentle walks so very excited to go for a few strolls and maybe tick off at least a couple more km

TheLongRider · 11/02/2021 08:15

A swift recovery to those of you with injuries.

drspouse · 11/02/2021 11:06

I'm also on strictly walking only but the physio says do longer/steeper walks to up the effort.

Nutrigrainygoodness · 11/02/2021 11:10

Would you accept a very late comer to the party 😂
I've just added it up I did 51km in Jan and I've already done 31km this month. I'm hoping to do 100km this month.
I'm dragging dd and my mums dog out for a walk first thing most mornings and we do about 3km on a nice route.

ErrolTheDragon · 11/02/2021 13:37

Sunny and cold - we walked on some of the field paths from our village that we've never done before because they're usually either too muddy or full of cattle. They were rock solid frozen today. 9.6km

221.3 walked
26.5 rowed

TheLongRider · 11/02/2021 15:25

2km walked to drop off glass to the bottle bank.
7km cycled to buy shopping and 25km on the turbo trainer doing cadence intervals.
I think I can sit down now!

drspouse · 11/02/2021 15:50

4.5 k to town to buy M&S dine in for two and to pick DS up from school.

Inniu · 11/02/2021 16:19

Sorry to hear about the injuries. They are so frustrating

Focus on what you can do 78% not what you can’t and hopefully there’s some cross training you can do. I lost a large chunk of running last year with injury niggles.

Welcome nutri what do you like doing most? Running?

A Hitt session and a short walk today as too cold for much else.

Swimming 5km
Cycling 108km

My lovely Pilates instructor has recovered from covid, I had a class yesterday morning and an extra one just now so I'm feeling nicely stretched. My core may complain tomorrow!Grin

drspouse · 11/02/2021 22:07

My legs are tired after that walk so I'm up for my Pilates tomorrow, I have DD home for home learning but she'll be happy to watch laugh.

78percentLindt · 11/02/2021 22:16

Thanks all for kind messages! The injury is a real blow, especially as I can't work out exactly what triggered it. I can't beieve that switching to walking shoes rather than boots and walking on pavements rather than muddy footpaths would do it.
At the moment I am just doing the ankle exercises, limited heel raises and some seated stuff. Most of the other things I usually do involve putting weight on my ankle or stetching round the area.
I'm off for my C19 vaccination tomorrow ( my surgery are starting the over 65s) so will need to do a bit of walking, so I will see how it goes.

FatLadySang · 12/02/2021 08:25

Nothing for me this week apart from a walk with small DC most days as full of a bloody head cold. Hoping back to normal next week.

Another walk on frozen field paths, including a different way back which got us to the small local brook we've not been to since the spring drought. 8.4 km

229.7 walked
26.5 rowed

TheLongRider · 12/02/2021 15:10

19km round trip cycled to attend a hospital appointment. The wind was whipping up the grit from the road and my exposed skin got covered in a fine layer of salt. Yuck!

drspouse · 12/02/2021 17:51

Just 3k to do the school run - most Fridays DD and I go to a slightly further park but she's been self isolating poor thing.

TriSeaSwim2021 · 12/02/2021 20:07

Run Kit has been laid out hoping a good nights sleep will follow and another go at faster HM tomorrow if the mega gusty wind doesn’t hamper my efforts. This is the official one for my virtual medal Smile two weeks after my “have I still go it” attempt. Even had fish n chips n chocolate tonight so well carbed up Grin. Fingers crossed I’ll be out the door by 8am. DH did his tonight in 1hr40! I’m aiming for under 2hr25...

TheLongRider · 12/02/2021 20:09

Go on! You can do it! You'll be proud of yourself anyway.

Run1000km2021 · 12/02/2021 21:15

@TriSeaSwim99 good luck to you tomorrow!!! You’ve got this! I look forward to reading your update!🤩

I’m running a HM tomorrow too, I’m not putting any pressure on myself wrt the time, I just want to go out there and run!

TriSeaSwim2021 · 13/02/2021 06:44

I slept badly 🤣oh dear the wind has been 40mph gusts all night and my youngest got up too 🙈I gave up at 6am got up will head out when it’s light put some dance music on and enjoy escaping childcare duties for a few hours! Good luck @Run1000km2021 hope your run goes well too.

Run1000km2021 · 13/02/2021 07:11

Oh my god @TriSeaSwim99, toddlers up in the night and at the crack of dawn here too😱😭 Currently hiding under my duvet listening to the wind howl😱😱😱

LaLaLanded · 13/02/2021 11:18

@TriSeaSwim2021 @Run1000km2021 hope the half marathons go well!! Hope you have some sun too despite the cold - we have some here.

I’m sleep deprived as all heck - we have a new puppy and I’m doing the 3.30am-7am shift! Ugh. He’s very cute though.

Managed 10km yesterday to keep the wheels turning and will do 10km today and probably same tomorrow. That will leave me at approx 55km for the week. Setting my intention publically here so I don’t skive!

I do need to do a half at some point - getting towards the 12-week mark before my race and I have a time goal. Think I’m still on track but I like to go in pretty much knowing things are In the bag!
