New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Oh, a dip in a tarn sounds amazing, @Annoy!

Annoy · 02/03/2021 17:24

Was pretty cold @50FootWave but the air temp is a bit warmer so was okay.... can’t wait for summer 😀

Spudlet · 02/03/2021 18:05

I managed an actual different route today! I’ve been slogging around the same 5k route for the last four thousand years few weeks because every other route has been too wet, but today I tried one of the other local routes and it was just about dry enough to do. There was a bit of a quagmire in one bit but someone had thoughtfully laid a plank bridge over it, and I managed to pick my way around it ok. It felt brilliant to have been able to mix it up a bit. 3.5 miles done with some strides at the very end.

Nice one @Spudlet I get so bored doing the same route that I have to have variety... it keeps me motivated

IRun4Me · 02/03/2021 18:32

spudlet I’ve finally been able to vary the routes a little recently.
Post work run. Felt hard work again. Don’t know why I can’t get in to my stride at the moment.

Quick one running buds....

What distance do you aim for a week?

Do you run everyday? If so what's distance?

emummy · 02/03/2021 21:27

I run 4 times a week, I like to have days off. Partly for physical reasons, partly mental.
My minimum if not training for anything is around 15-20 miles a week. The most I’ve done is 45 when marathon training.

@Borisjohnsonshairbrush it completely changes throughout the year depending on whatever running goals you have. Ideally you cycle through different lengths of race goal.

Most people find everyday running is too much, it needs easing into very slowly or accepting very short very slow days.

50FootWave · 03/03/2021 07:32

@Borisjohnsonshairbrush I run 30km a week over 4 runs.

Though I'll be dropping down to 15km a week over 3 runs for March whilst my knee gets better!

I'll be interested to know what impact this has on my running - it may improve it when I increase it again (fingers crossed I can increase it again!).

Spudlet · 03/03/2021 07:46

@Borisjohnsonshairbrush At the moment I do about 11 or 12 miles a week - that’s 3 miles twice during the week and 5 or 6 at the weekend. I only run three days a week, as that’s the time I can spare for it, especially during lockdown - DH has to try and work with DS watching the tv when I go out during the week so it’s not really fair to ask that too often. Once I start marathon training that will go up but I have a niggly ankle to sort out first.

fellrunner85 · 03/03/2021 07:53

@Borisjohnsonshairbrush
I aim for a minimum of 30 miles a week, over 5 days. More if I'm in marathon training/ultra training. And I make sure I walk a decent distance on my rest days.

IRun4Me · 03/03/2021 19:17

Last year I ran 10 - 12 miles a week. This year I’m running 15 - 20 but I’m not sure if I can sustain that with life, work and family. I tend to run between 3 and 5 days. I only run every day when doing RED January. Like others have said it ebbs and flows depending on events and other pressures. I also cycle to work and walk the dog when not running with him so do exercise every day.

Wet run this evening but I quite enjoy a bit of rain.

I’m feeling the same too... I can’t get in to my stride and feel proper clumsy!!

I try to run at least 3 times a week and aim for 15km a week. I’m upping this slowly as I would like to do an ultra in Sept which is 42 Miles 😬
Annoy · 03/03/2021 20:06

I have other sports too though. I mnt bike at least twice a week and will be climbing more when weather improves

dubyalass · 03/03/2021 20:33

I’m being slack at the moment (measly 2.2 miles this evening, first time this week) but I’m going to sign up for a 10k in June and give myself something to aim for. Over the weekend I did a run, a bike ride and a long walk on the coast path so I’m not sedentary!

Nice, even 5km this morning (I'm not allowed to do any longer this month) - but grateful to be out!

Two more days of home schooling and then a very welcome return to a peaceful working day.

3 and a bit miles today takes me past 100 miles for the e year so far. I have a 500 mile trainer that I’m colouring in, so I’m nicely on track there.

Didn’t have a great night last night so was really tired when I started, but I do feel a lot better now.

Purpleraindeer · 04/03/2021 17:06

Feeling a bit tired today. Did an easy run this morning but a hard intervals session yesterday so I need my rest day tomorrow. I do HIIT/home workouts 1dpw and run 4 days. I used to do the opposite so am now finding my go to HIIT workouts are much too hard and leave me sore for days which is a bit depressing. I’m aiming to run 30miles per week as I’m training for a few ultras this year.

PaddingtonPaddington · 04/03/2021 19:47

10k with a friend at lunchtime.

I’m running approx 35-40miles a week as training for an ultra. When I’m not training I’ll do 26 miles a week.

Wow! You are all doing amazing! I'm 4-5times a week and I aim to run for an hour a time so I get about 6miles in.

Yesterday morning I ran at 5:30 it was freezing but I got 6miles in.
Then today I got 9miles in as I felt I could just keep going. I.love love love those types of run! Xx
