New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Lovely run through the woods on compact snow

Compacted firm snow is lovely to run on, glad you enjoyed it @Doublethecuddles.

Nice steady run this morning. Bit of excitement when one bit of road turned out to be covered in thick soft snow that had drifted off the fields overnight; 2 cars stuck & a snowplough arriving. Nearly had to push one of the cars, but it got going without help.

Love the snow photos @emummy!

It has been super cold hasn’t it so well done to everyone who has got out. It’s tough out there.

Did my virtual 50k. 21.4m yesterday then 9.9 this am. Am amazed at myself as it was mostly ok. I’m feeling a bit tired now, but I was expecting to be half dead. On advice I ate a lot whilst i was running and it made a big difference. Having moaned about the mud a few weeks ago, I am now moaning about the corrugated frozen mud instead. My feet got a battering.

So cold today - the Met Office app reckoned it felt like -6 with windchill and I can believe it and then some. Turning into the headwind along the top was not fun today, had my biff pulled up and my hat pulled down like I was about to rob a bank 🙈 Sheet ice everywhere, the puddles were absolutely solid! So took it slow today, with plenty of photo breaks, some very careful ice crossings and a detour to try and get a picture of a Red Kite that flew over - couldn’t get close enough with my phone though. 5 and a bit miles on the books though 👍

Well done purpleraindeer Very impressive.
A couple of very cold windy runs to add. Today I made the most of being able to do a route I hadn’t for a while, due to mud. It was hard going at times as the ground was frozen and very bumpy. But an enjoyable one.

Congrats @Purpleraindeer

Like others an absolute bitter chill to the wind today and still awful compacted ice everywhere but the thaw is on the way.

Great running everyone, conditions are fierce in some places!

10km for me yesterday, strong headwinds so had to duck and dive a bit away from the coast road, but lovely and fresh.

Raining hard today, just in time for half term...not the days feel any different right now what with home schooling!

Amaura · 15/02/2021 12:44

Great weekend running everyone. Awesome job @Purpleraindeer, make sure you take a good few weeks at recovery pace while you get over it.

I reverted back to recovery runs to finish the week off.

Well done Purpleraindeer

Lovely 41/2 miles mainly along the beach with only a small section of ice to contend with. Felt almost tropical at 5C !

Well done @Purpleraindeer...the frozen mud is ankle breaking! I feel like I’m more unsteady than when it’s soft!

Annoy · 15/02/2021 16:05

No running for me today, but did a 12 miles mountain bike ride with the kids in the rain and wind... was bloody miserable but so much warmer than recently.

The bikes are staying in the garage until Easter 🤣

Well done @Borisjohnsonshairbrush, such a nice feeling when a run goes well.
A 12 mile mountain bike ride is my idea of hell @Annoy! Well done!
Tropical weather here - a whole 6 degrees and sunny. Out in my t shirt for an interval session. The paths are still on the icy & snowy side so ran in the road.

Thanks for the congrats!
Well done @Borisjohnsonshairbrush - I love the feeling of a good run.
I bet we’re all having acclimatisation issues as it’s suddenly warm again.
Mistimed my run and ended up in a bit of a downpour and legs felt pretty tired from the weekend, but got it done which was the main thing Smile

A morning dash done here

Dropped the run streak as it wasn't working for me, and now focusing on building up mileage in the hope of doing my first Half at the end of March - previous longest is 11 miles so not too much of a jump but a nice milestone to aim for.

Thought I had added last week's miles but it seems not;

5k done this afternoon. All the ice has gone now but the mud hasn’t staged a full comeback yet so it was quite nice - I did overdress hugely though and had to keep stopping to remove layers and roll sleeves up. It’s going to be 13 degrees by the weekend, I may expire 🥵

I, erm, had a small accident online earlier and am slightly alarmed at myself - I’ve never run further than 7.5 miles before Shock DH has helpfully informed me that a marathon is a very long way Hmm and DM said ‘Oh well, it doesn’t matter if you try and can’t do it’ HmmConfused Erm, thanks you guys 🙄
