New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Well it wasn’t-12. It was -14! Officially my coldest run ever. So glad to be inside. My eyelashes froze! Still 6 in of snow so a good workout.

Sun was out today and a few of the pavements cleared so I managed to fit 5.24 miles in. Feeling much better xx

Not sure how cold it was (Baltic, frankly), but a veeeery ginger 3.3 miles done over a fabulous combination of black ice, snow drifts and shoddy mud where it had melted. There were a few short stretches where the ground decided not to be homicidal and those bits were quite fun Grin And I wore my new leggings which were great, so pleased overall.

@emummy brrr that is cold. Not quite that cold here but the roads are a lethal combination of sheet ice with a bit of snow over the top. Decided against my intervals today and just did what I could. Might have to venture out tomorrow if it thaws a bit.

Massive respect @emummy

I tapered slightly for a trail virtual race. Got hot a few miles in so took off my sleeves. By the time I realised bare arms and hands were not enough, I couldn’t be bothered stopping and relayering. Regretted that when I could use my hands very well to operate the gates 😂.

Too slow typing again. Still warming, we were only slightly minus, but minus nonetheless

We are all super tough cold weather runners on this thread.

@emummy you win the prize for -14c.

@amura - I have a virtual race this weekend. It is the centurion one. I opted for 50k. Hope it goes ok.

3m today - super slow (and cold!)

Yes we are @Purpleraindeer! Enter running in this country is always a challenge, with the short days and yucky weather. But it does really build your physical and mental strength- and makes us really appreciate spring!

Amaura · 11/02/2021 21:19

Nice @Purpleraindeer. All the best of luck

50FootWave · 12/02/2021 08:26

Brrrr, a nippy 5km for me this morning - had to divert from the seafront as forgot my gloves.

@emummy not as cold as you, though - that is next level weather!

A morning 4.5 miler, it was not as cold as I feared ! Pretty skies, lovely and crunchy underfoot

Brrrrr, feel a bit of a wimp saying how cold it was this morning, clocking @Emummy 's -14, but wowzers it was chilly! Wooly hat, 2 tops, gilet and gloves.

Psyched myself up for a 10km with the dogs but got there and the loop I can do with them was closed off for military shenanigans, so back in car we went and did a 5km elsewhere instead. At least all the mud had frozen over!

Was going to run yesterday but at -15.5 C it was too cold for me. Well done to everyone who has braved the weather.

It was a balmy -1 C this morning so had an interesting run on black ice compressed snow and tarmac. I did step into snow at one point which came up to my knees.

Good luck to those that are virtual racing this weekend.

Good luck to racers - virtual and real! Hope your ultra goes well @Toomanynotes, and the weather is kind to everyone.

Thanks!

Just at our hotel getting ready now for a 7am start. Bit envious of all your cold weather - it's going to be stinking hot here today!

Will see you all at the other side in about ten hours Grin

Annoy · 12/02/2021 19:58

Wimped out on my run today due to how cold it is. Plus I’d been out in it all day with work and it’s tired me out!!

Was going to go tomorrow morning but it’s -3 and 40mph winds 😬🥶

Might do an indoor instead!

PaddingtonPaddington · 12/02/2021 20:35

Best of luck to those doing races this weekend.

Finally managed to get my intervals done on a piece of ice free road. Coldest yet today with a bitter wind.

Steady ish run today; struggling with the snow a bit. We had another 2 inches overnight, most of the paths have soft deep snow. Some of the roads are clear but a lot of them have soft snow too so it was hard work! The pictures show my street and my feet on the path. So no attempt at intervals today but still a good run.

My ankles are cold just looking at that picture @emummy

A fresh 7 miler done, a balmy -2 but all the mud is frozen so a lovely route now passable that was a quagmire last week.

Where are you based @emummy? That snow is insane!!.... You obvs don’t have to answer me and tell me I’m being cheeky 😀

I got out for a short run with my 11yr old today in an attempt to drag him away from his PC for a little while. The wind was bitterly cold!

We’re in Aberdeenshire @Annoy, so we usually get snow. Haven’t had this much for about 10 years though.

A lovely 4 mile run this morning. Some of which was hard work running up hill in soft snow, gave my legs a good workout. Wore my new wool ankle socks which kept my feet nice and cosy.
CalmConfident hope the mud stays frozen for a bit longer. emummy you more snow than us, who have about 10cm.

Had a good afternoon sledging with the children which included sprinting to the sledges, jumping in them and racing down the hill. I’m sure the exercise was the equivalent to a long run.
