New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Thanks so much for all the birthday wishes, I had a lovely day and was very spoilt. 😊

@dubyalass well done that's terrific!

6km this morning with my friend. Was absolutely baltic, and eerily quiet, snow flurries but not really settling, sky was bright from the reflection of what was settling, felt really alive! Considering the amount of alcohol consumed this week I certainly did not deserve to feel as good as I did!

Have ordered a running gilet... Just cos...

Thanks everyone! Decided to give myself the week off what with the chilly weather - my hips and ankles have been complaining today so they’re having a well earned break.

Annoy · 08/02/2021 22:04

2 miles today. Not much but there was a 105m height gain and another dip in a very cold tarn 🥶 That bit wasn’t as enjoyable as last week but it’s helping me build resilience... or so i tell myself!

Nice bit of hilly running there @Annoy!
Supposed to do hill reps this morning but sprinting up hill in 5in of snow is not possible! So did a route of repeated hills instead up & down 3 steep long hills. Got snowed on but on the plus side everything is looking very pretty.

2 snowy miles for me this morning. Some running, and some wading through knee deep drifts - my trainers are very nearly clean! Stunningly gorgeous stuff, I feel like an new woman.

Some people take ages setting ice baths up at home, I get one for free Grin

Very jealous of all these snowy pictures.
The snow has been pathetic.
A short very cold run

No proper snow here either. Had to negotiate this huge frozen flooded road though. Tiptoed round the side as I thought going through the middle would be asking for a bit of frostnip!

It’s so frickin cold today!
PaddingtonPaddington · 09/02/2021 21:04

Loving the photos. Proper snow here. Monday was deep drifts and my run was more of a hike but enjoyed the slower pace but didn’t manage many miles as so hard going. Today was a combination of sheet ice, slush and snow drifts so more miles done. Couldn’t mange my usual interval training with the conditions so will have to do that later in the week.

Love these snow photos so much!

Tapering this week, so did a 8km run with my Run Club on Sunday - a nice out and back to a waterfall. Also a 10km up the local hills and back down.

So just 53km to run on Saturday for the Tarawera Ultra! Driving up there on Friday with my friend (about five and a half hours drive on the terrible NZ roads!). Weather forecast is for hot, but the course is quite shady apparently (apart from the end when you run through the sulphurous mud flats - stinky).

7km for me this morning - was expecting ice and polar bears (ok, maybe not polar bears) or at least some baltic winds, but it was rather ordinary compared to others!

Stunning pics from everyone!

Good luck in your ultra @toomanynotes
I remember hearing about that one years ago on holiday in NZ. I bet it is spectacular. Tell us how you got on.

Managed intervals today - 6x4mins which I was dreading as it sounded very hard, but actually was strangely enjoyable despite a few slippy ice moments. Paced it properly for the first time ever and intervals got faster so was pleased with that as I’m really inexperienced at doing them.

Lush 6.5km run in the crisp cold and sunshine this morning.

Am sure my noooo gilleeeeeet made me run faster. ;-)

Cold icy run this morning. Was mainly off road so this morning so not too slippy. Did stop near the end to chat to someone I’ve not seen for ages. Think I then got cold as the last bit was really hard and I couldn’t warm back up.

Think the numbers are muddled?

emummy · 10/02/2021 17:57

How far did you run @IRun4Me? Think we need to add yours to 319.9.

Too scared to run in this ice and snow. It been nearly a week since the last run. Petrified I'm losing my fitness already!

spaceghetto · 10/02/2021 20:09

I can't work out the numbers? I did a 5k today at lunch, 24 mins 14 seconds. I did 17k at the weekend 1 hour 32 mins.

Annoy · 10/02/2021 20:47

Wow! @Toomanynotes... Good luck 😉

5 miles today after work. So cold! Couldnt feel my face 🥶
