New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

I am exhausted with being back in school with keyworker children and learning all the Zoom stuff whilst trying to talk at an audible level through a mask! Most disgruntled though that not one pound has shifted after 5x 5k runs. Not even an ounce!Angry

@Spudlet fingers crossed for your physio appointment

No snow here just bitter cold and still many puddles and lots of mud. Pleased to get out for a run rain free and get out of the house for some peace.

Another one struggling with homeschool and wfh. At this rate I’ll be working until 2am trying to catch up.

Unsurprisingly didn’t find time for all my runs

A 5 miler and an icy 8 miler to add

Happy Friday everyone.

A gingerly paced 4 miles in the ice, but grateful for the fresh air and solitude.

Weather looks sunny this weekend, so I'm going to cram two runs in - think I might start doing this in case weekday runs become squashed...

@Amaura sending solidarity.

@Spudlet hope you're feeling ok.

Spudlet · 08/01/2021 13:56

The mere threat of a physiotherapist seems to have shaken my niggly knee back into behaving - 3.3 miles at a decent enough (given the sheer levels of mud and some of the route still being under water) pace with only minor complaints. Needed it with the homeschooling and all!

Hugs, fist bumps and solidarity all the homeschoolers! @Amaura @PaddingtonPaddington @Benjispruce2 @50FootWave in fact hells bells @every bloody one of us

Lovely run along the beach this morning, with a beautiful cold blue sky. First part was very slow until we got down on the beach, once on the beach the sand was crunchy!

Glad I can still get out as my DC don’t need to be supervised the whole time for home schooling. Good luck to those who are

Spudlet that is my idea of hell!

Sending all support and love to all those homeschooling. At 14 and 16 I can leave mine to it, apart from making sure they actually get up, and then asking them about it the end of the day, omg I count my blessings I don't have to sit with them.

7km today, my thigh is still really not right, and my back seems really fragile too now, only did 17km in total this week, and am usually knocking on the door of 30km....I'm going to rest for the next 2 days and just do yoga, and hope everything feels stronger next week.

Hello everyone! Mind if I join in? I'm just getting back into running again after having a baby last year, only doing very short stints right now but hoping to work slowly up to some longer runs.

Went out this morning in the snow, came home & unzipped my top to realise that I hadn't clipped my bra back up after feeding dd and one boob was swinging free, can't think how I didn't notice Blush

Spudlet · 08/01/2021 15:05

@Nowisthemonthofmaying Grin There’s a picture of me just sitting on the sofa with one boob out after feeding DS, I was just too knackered to do anything about it GrinBlush

Nowisthemonthofmaying · 08/01/2021 15:15

@Spudlet DH keeps complaining that it's really hard to get a decent baby pic because there's always this enormous pair of knockers in the background 😂

Spudlet · 08/01/2021 16:37

The physio says keep running! Doing a happy dance right now 👍

IRun4Me · 08/01/2021 17:46

Yay spudlet good news. And your off road runs (or paddles) look like mine.
Welcome nowisthemontjofmaying that image did make me laugh.
Was very cold when I got in from work. Didn’t really want to go out for a run but actually soon warmed up and really enjoyed it

Got out today even though it’s been snowing. Was slushy rather than icy so still had to slow right down but it’s actually quite nice to be forced to slow down like that and just relax into the run

Ralphiesaurus · 09/01/2021 06:46

Hello, everyone. Wow all your runs are very impressive! Just wanted to add my bit (which I am v proud of): I completed w9r3 of c25k yesterday! I can’t quite believe it. Bit emotional at the end actually. Anyway - now I’m planning to continue going out 3x a week for 30min consolidation runs and start some strength training, before moving on to speed/distance training. (And I have two home schooling too but like @Iamblossom mine are a bit older - 12 and 15).

emummy · 09/01/2021 09:54

Welcome @Nowisthemonthofmaying!
@Spudlet so glad you can keep running, hope the knee is better soon.
Congratulations @Ralphiesaurus, well done!
Kudos to all the hone schoolers; my 2 younger children are 12 and 16, so they will be starting on Monday, following their usual school timetable and having classes, so they shouldn’t need much help. Am more concerned about whether the Wi-fi can take 4 of us doing video calls on it! I start my new job next week and it sounds like they have a ton of patients queued up for us!
Absolutely beautiful morning here, still snowy but well gritted at last. A balmy -6 for my run so lots of layers but it was very nice indeed.

Hello all. Hope I can join you!

I'm in New Zealand, currently training for a 50km ultra in February.

Went out with my friend who is doing the ultra with me for a training run this morning. A very slow, but very hilly 23km run! Will read back on thread and catch up soon

Toomanynotes · 09/01/2021 10:17

Oops just realised we're in miles not km,!

Welcome @Toomanynotes! Lovely to have a runner from further afield, good luck with your training.

Amaura · 09/01/2021 11:29

@Ralphiesaurus that sounds like a very good and measured plan. It’s always the approach I recommend.

Hello @Toomanynotes well done in your run. I remember running in Auckland and those hills are fucking everywhere. At least hills counts as a hard session in its own right

Good luck next week @emummy. I’m hoping work will ease after Wednesday once a few things have cleared. Managed to stop at midnight and set my alarm for 6 to sneak in some quality hours before 9. But I got it all done, had a good school day (told the kids if it didn’t go easy we’d just work Saturday and that made them buckle down) and got my Scout night planned before we started

@Spudlet great news

Had a lovely social 5km with DD and she opened up a lot and just chatted away. Did a trail half this morning which was one of those runs that actually felt quite easy. I think the bonus rest day was good. Just a fraction below zero here, which I’ve discovered is trousers (mainly so I can take the mud off at the door), short sleeve top and gloves. Unless it’s windy or rainy of course.

Welcome Toomanynotes
Good luck on the new job emummy
I’m out the house at work so just threaten about the homeschooling as I leave and hope the threat has worked when I return.
Cold, foggy and muddy. But really enjoyable.

Great news, @Spudlet

Hello to new people - I'm still very new myself!

A fast 5km for me earlier - looks less icy next week so will try and get some longer runs in, earlier in the day.
