New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

I hate running on ice @Teenageromance. I am using my yak trax, and doing as much running in the woods as I can - the paths right under trees are clear just now, everywhere else is horrible.

I hate running in ice and look like an old lady creeping over it.

PaddingtonPaddington · 04/01/2021 19:20

Well done all, some great personal goals being achieved in January already. Keep up the momentum and positivity.

Hill intervals tonight in the wet and wind,

So, we’ve still got running!Grin

50FootWave · 05/01/2021 07:46

@Benjispruce2 praise be!

It's going to be a lifeline for the next six weeks!

Rest for me today (home workout, lower body/core), then a middle distance run tomorrow/Thursday, long one on Saturday.

Hope everyone is ok.

emummy · 05/01/2021 08:50

Still icy today, so a slow steady run in very muddy woods in the dark because it’s back to work day! Hurray.

Yes thank god in this Handmaid's Tale era we are still allowed to run Hmm

IRun4Me · 05/01/2021 18:18

Cold run but no ice thankfully. Went with a friend and it was so nice to run and chat.

@Benjispruce2 yes thankfully we still have running!

Absolutely flooded everywhere, 2 wet feet getting out the drive way and then it rained the whole run and some nice cold wind just to make it more enjoyable. A hard slog today.

Sorry, lamblossom, have finally got around yo reading The Testaments and it popped out!

Not meant as a comment on current situation. 😁

Purpleraindeer · 05/01/2021 20:12

5 easy miles this am. It was absolutely Baltic - the wind just cut through me. Sounds like we all had the same.
I agree - I think I’ll be running a lot for the next 6wks just for something to do Sad that’s not work or watching tv.

Iamblossom · 06/01/2021 07:17

@50FootWave ooh I enjoyed the Testaments did you?

Am up early for a call with Korea, but in running gear and intending to go after this, probably a 6km. Haven't even clocked the weather yet as too dark, but am thinking it's a woolly hat job.....

50FootWave · 06/01/2021 07:24

I did, @lamblossom! I read it over Christmas, so a bit dark but I really enjoyed it.

I am also sat here, running gear on, about to venture out , also for a 6km. Sunrise is at 8.04am so should see it as I'm heading back....it looks cold but not icy....enjoy!

50FootWave · 06/01/2021 09:33

6.27 km run done in the sleet, arrived home looking like I'd been for a swim.

Hope you wore your hat, lamblossom!

Well done early risers. Decided I couldn’t drag myself out in the dark this morning then wanted to make sure the child was on the home schooling lessons. Have work meetings later to find out what this round of lockdown will look like in terms of work pattern etc. Figure I’ll probably need a run after that.

Iamblossom · 06/01/2021 10:10

Did 5.37km, same route as Monday, weather was filthy, wet snow! Wore two long sleeved tops, a rain jacket, a snood, a cap to keep the wet off and gloves!

Lovely run along the beach this morning. It was -5 when I left but slightly warmer at the beach. Apart from the beach it’s very difficult to find anything that isn’t like an ice rink.
Running will hopefully preserve my sanity!
lamblossom dressed very similarly, had a long sleeved top, thermal jumper, jacket, hat and gloves on and my thermal socks which my daughter laughs at.

Benjispruce2 · 06/01/2021 17:37

5k in the dark. No faster but lungs felt good.
What’s happening with mikes?

Purpleraindeer · 06/01/2021 22:17

Im envious of your beach runs@Doublethecuddles

I went out for an evening run tonight as thought I’d need it after a busy day. Was hard to motivate myself to get out but really enjoyed running in the dark and I was a lot faster than usual. We only have one lit road with a pavement (live in a village) so routes are a bit limited so suspect I won’t do it too often.

Not sure where we are on mileage. Have added to 144, should I also add the 17 from
Double the cuddles?

2.5 miles from me yesterday, a brief escape from homeschooling hell...! My knee is still niggling me so I’ve capitulated and booked a zoom physio appointment for Friday. Hoping she can tell me how to fix my stupid leg and that the answer won’t be ‘stop running’ because it’s my sanity break right now... I think I might Jeff it when I go out on Friday though.

152.5 I think?

emummy · 07/01/2021 10:15

Headtorch run in snowy woods today, an interesting mix of mud, ice and snow - certainly woke me up!

Oh spudlet I feel your pain and totally get where you are coming from.
Took the dog for a short muddy run. It was cold, sunny and quiet and made me feel so much better. Running is definitely my escape and sanity at the moment.

Solidarity here, too, on the home schooling.

It is SO icey here, even at midday with the sun shining. I wanted to have a fast 5km (no time for a slow longer run), but I'm going to have to move til tomorrow and resign myself to PE with Joe W and DS instead and a late afternoon walk...
