New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Love seeing people’s pictures of their runs.
I’ve managed 630 miles this year which I am so pleased with especially as I’ve had to change my work hours and have been going in to work. It’s been tricky sometimes fitting runs in.
Last run of 2020 done. Cold and icy here

IRun4Me · 31/12/2020 15:01

Happy new year all.

Love seeing photos of people’s runs too.

I’ve got a Garmin watch which automatically syncs to Strava via my phone. Definitely recommend a garmin (lots of models to chose from).

Final run of the year, a lovely minus 3 early start icy run with a friend chatting and the miles flew by. Ending on a 15 mile run and 1550miles this year.

Happy new year, hope those running resolutions are all ready to go!

Second run of 5k done, same 32 mins but was soooo cold and my knee was starting to ache so didn’t push it. Happy new year . It feels good to start running again before the year is out!Smile

dubyalass · 31/12/2020 17:51

I'm now able to go for a run tomorrow (other plans cancelled due to new tier) so am thinking about where I could go. It is very foggy here and due to stay barely above freezing tomorrow so I'm a bit limited in options but I still want to get out, even if it's just for a short but slightly faster run.

Theimpossiblegirl · 31/12/2020 19:01

Thank you. I have a Fitbit so will try to link that up for now. DH is working tomorrow so I've asked him to drop me 10k from home on his way in. I'm looking forward to it, I'm usually tired and hungover New Year's Day.

Amaura · 31/12/2020 20:10

@PaddingtonPaddington it feels like we’ve been running twins this year. I’m about two dozen miles higher than you. Just signed up to a 50km in May to act as a training point. Won’t ‘race’ it though

HappyThursdays · 31/12/2020 20:14

I have been on and off these running threads for a few years 😂 under different names - I did a 5km today (38 mins). I'm still no faster than I was when I first joined but i do love seeing how quick all of you are! Happy new year to you all!

Iamblossom · 01/01/2021 10:00

@paddingtonpaddington I cannot imagine running 15 miles... 😯

emummy · 01/01/2021 10:13

Happy New Year everyone! Hope 2021 is full of happy running miles, no injuries and new adventures.

Thanks, @emummy - you too!

Amaura · 01/01/2021 14:11

Happy new year

Smashed my expectations on the handicap race today. Also saw my time at the 5km point and that was within 30secs of my PB

Well done Amaura
First run of the year done. A very short plod. But I went out and did it.

Happy new year all and thank you for the welcome. I'm going to slip (squeeze) into my exercise gear tomorrow and see where it leads me! I've also got Jillian Michaels postnatal work dvd (big fan of her other dvds) as a way to mix thing ups with the yoga and running. Got to admit I'm a bit nervous to get back out there!

50FootWave · 02/01/2021 08:42

Well done, @Amaura, a great start to the year.

I also did a slow plod, @IRun4Me, but I managed my longest yet (5.12 miles), so i feel tired but good!

Good luck @RestorationInsanity today

Great job @50FootWave that’s a good achievement. Won’t be long before you hit the big 10km

Plod for me today @IRun4Me

I wasn’t impressed with my weight yesterday so have been setting up zoom calls to do workouts with friends. First one in a bit

emummy · 02/01/2021 10:20

Well done @Amaura and @50FootWave!
Good luck today @RestorationInsanity.
First run of the year for me and first run in new shoes. Changed brand completely so it’s a bit of a gamble. Felt good this morning though, despite all the slippery frosty bits. Absolutely beautiful morning here although freezing!

I asked DH to drop me off in Spring for my run today, but he most unreasonably informed me that time travel is not a thing. So I listened to an album which was mixed from birdsong and pretended instead. A very muddy and claggy run in places but satisfying nonetheless!

Well done @Amaura. Lovely way to start the year. You are definitely right about being my running twin and spookily enough I’m also doing an ultra in May!

@Spudlet lovely pics.

@emummy what brand are your new trainers? I need a new pair but will be getting the same brand (Brooks) as I find them so comfortable.

Chatty run with a friend this morning.

emummy · 02/01/2021 14:53

@PaddingtonPaddington they are Hokas. Last time I trained for a marathon in my faithful Sauconys I got quite sore feet across the metatarsal heads so I want to try some more cushioned shoes

First run of the year, 12km, furthest I think I've ever run! It amused me to label it on strava "All the 1s and 2s, 12km on 2nd of the 1st 2021". God I must be bored 🙄

I recently bought my second pair of Saucony running trainers, Trails this time, really pleased with them so far.

I love how my Huawei watch and phone synch and give me a dynamic "video" of my route, I wonder if I can share it on here...

Benjispruce2 · 02/01/2021 16:33

First run of 2021. 5k. My breathing felt great but I think my knee is protesting at 3 runs in a week after a long gap so couldn’t pick up more pace. Still, 32 mins.

Benjispruce2 · 02/01/2021 16:35

40.6 maths fail.Grin

Amaura · 02/01/2021 16:54

Sounds like you were sensible @Benjispruce2 not enough people give their bodies time to adjust the frequency of running before trying to increase distance or pace.

My plod was slightly ruined by a faster running partner so not looking forward to my 12 miles tomorrow
