New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

Thank you emummy for the new thread.
Welcome to all new people. Great to have you here.
Definitely had to force myself out but once out I enjoyed it and felt better for it. Also the longest distance I’ve done in a while.
Ice is not fun when running.

Thanks for the new thread @emummy.

10k last night under the street lights in a local town was still pretty dark in places and annoying drizzly rain in the face but a good pace.

Did a 5k last night and tried interval sprints for the first time to see if it'll help me speed up a bit. Did 5 min easy pace then 1min sprint/1.5min easy and remembered what it felt like when I first started running and couldn't breathe! Tell me it'll get easier?!

Wahoo been waiting for a new thread to be created

HR recovery and a few 7/8 milers. Might try a virtual trail race at the weekend to find out how bad my speed has become

It will get easier @pomegranatefizz! Then you do longer sprints and it gets harder again....enjoy!

Beautiful run along the river in the sunshine, freezing cold though!

I find intervals hard pomegranatefizz. Maybe I should do them more often if they get easier!!
Run with a friend. Very dull and misty. But a good natter

Hi, can I join you all? Very much a beginner - am running about 3 times a week about 6/7k a time but not particularly quickly...
I'm guessing the numbers in bold are a monthly total in km?

emummy · 28/11/2020 18:24

Welcome @Cwtchynycegin! The numbers are in miles, just add on any runs you do.
I quite enjoy intervals- very much type 2 fun though! I feel ridiculously proud of myself afterwards, especially just now where it’s dark and there’s no scenery to distract me. I try to do them once a week at the moment.

Welcome @Cwtchynycegin.

Lovely half with a friend this afternoon.

I did the virtual race, it was mostly a trail (with 7 gates in a one mile stretch) so not too speedy but got the pace I wanted. Next step, brave a road flat paved 5km.

Also paced someone around it today

I think intervals if you’ve not done recently are hard, but pay off quickly and by week 3 feel a lot better

emummy · 29/11/2020 11:26

Well done Amaura.
-2 for my run in the forest - well, that was in the sun, some bits don’t get any sun and they were absolutely freezing! Was very beautiful though but I am now going to spend the rest of the day in the shower!

Can a newbee tag on? I have recently started running again after a year off recovering from herniated discs. I've got up to 5 miles or so. But this morning I did a lovely 2.75 miles through local lanes and housing estates with my 6yo on her bike. First time we've done this! It was lovely :D

emummy · 29/11/2020 12:00

Welcome @Indecisivelurcher! Glad you’re recovering from the disc problems. That sounds like a lovely run this morning! I’ll add your miles to our total

Thanks for the encouragement about intervals, going to try and do them weekly and see if they get a bit easier - hoping once the gyms open I can at least make them more bearable doing them on the treadmill!

Lovely misty run today and the furthest I've gone for years. Definitely learning that so much is mind over matter...

Welcome @Indecisivelurcher

10k in the dark, wet and wind. Looking forward to running club starting again next week for some motivation.

Welcome cetchyncegin and indecisivelurcher
Definitely a lot to be said for mind over matter. Went out tonight for a short run but ended up running with a friend. Went further than planned and totally forgot how miserable and wet it was

Did a slowish 6k round the golf course dodging the late afternoon golfers - just made it back with enough light to see! I'm going to try to go every other day in preparation for RED January. Thanks for all the welcomes ☺️

Cwtchynycegin · 30/11/2020 22:52

Sorry - forgot to add mileage!

emummy · 02/12/2020 08:41

Forgot to add yesterday’s run, mainly because it was a crazy day! Did intervals, increased the number, managed to keep ok pace so happy with that. Still some icy patches though which is adding extra excitement!

Managed to get out at lunchtime for a tempo 10k. So pleased to be out in the daylight.

That was cold and wet.
Can’t believe it’s December already and a new month total.

Good point IRun, forgot about the new month!
Easy run in the woods this morning; decided to stay off paths as it was very cold and icy.

Out in the wet and wind today and it was a hard slog.

Forgot we had changed months!

Adding in today’s and yesterday’s run to the total
