New thread needed! All runners welcome, whatever your pace or distance.
Cold icy run for me this morning, couple of exciting sliding episodes! Not a fan of the ice...

May I join? Lockdown 1 convert to running, now slightly obsessed and training for a half marathon...

Just over 20 miles so far this month which I think brings it to

I started c25 on the start of November and completed it today! It's been a long slog but I'm really starting to enjoy it and it's helped my MH

Hoping to go on and do 10K by Feb

emummy · 06/12/2020 20:12

Well done @Yorensnow! Good luck moving on to 10k, hope you continue to enjoy running.
If you like you can add any runs you do to our group total in bold - it’s in miles.

Absolutely loved my 10k today! Was a bit of a struggle with my breathing in the cold at first but really felt like it settled in. Furthest I've done in ages and for once I seemed to get the layering right!

IRun4Me · 07/12/2020 08:05

Welcome newcomers great to have lots of people to talk all things running.
Short run yesterday in the cold fog. I just couldn’t get in to it and really struggled with the breathing. Then had to stand around waiting for DS to finish his sporting activity.

I did 10 miles yesterday, furthest I've ever gone.

Definitely getting colder now, needed my long leggings and kept my long sleeved top on.

I'm considering getting a running jacket but I don't know if I will be too hot wearing one.

Welcome @Yorensnow and @UnaOfStormhold. More the merrier.

Well done @Coulddowithanap on reaching a new mileage.

Intervals tonight in minus 1 degrees.

Well done @Coulddowithanap! I often wear a gilet rather than a jacket running, the only jacket I use is my waterproof one on really wet days.
Intervals this morning, held up a bit by walkers and vans who don’t indicate!
Will be running tomorrow night instead of Thursday morning; taking part in the One run global event at 7pm - anyone else?

What’s the One Run global event?

153.8

emummy · 08/12/2020 11:16

It’s to do with world human rights day. Basically you sign up to run at 7pm your time. They’re aiming to get someone in every country of the world doing it, I think they’ve got nearly all of them and about 14000 people so far. You can raise money if you like for charities working against discrimination in children but you don’t have to. I bought a t shirt which contributes money but you can just take part. It’s organised by Danny Bent, who has done a lot of running relay fundraising things.
I don’t really do these kind of events but I heard him talking about it on a podcast and was inspired to sign up.

And it’s Thursday night, not Wednesday!

Winter wonderland here today - DH has the day off so we did the school run together and then he drove and I ran home. Kept stopping to take photos as it was so pretty.

That is beautiful spudlet
Can I join too please. I’m a weekend warrior normally and to date I’ve only run 1 or 2x per week but long runs as I’m training for an ultra. I thought I would try to move to 3x per week (gasp!) with the intention of trying to get faster. 5m tempo this am - was foggy and cold but great to run ‘fast’

Welcome @Purpleraindeer

Lovely pic @Spudlet

Intervals in the dark and freezing fog. Took every bit of effort to get out the door this evening.

IRun4Me · 09/12/2020 07:48

Welcome purpleraindeer I’m always in awe of anyone who attempts an ultra.
I’ve not heard of the One run global event. Will look it up.
coulddowithanap I am a fan of the running jacket and have several of varying thinkness. I just often wear a t shirt or vest top underneath. I get really hot and find a jacket useful as I can unzip if needed and also tie round my waist without undoing the whole thing or taking completely off- just slip my arms out if you get my jist.
Cold run here last night but at least the fog had cleared.

Got myself a lightweight ruing jacket today. Not sure how waterproof it will be but seemed pretty windproof.

What one did you get? I’m on the hunt for a new waterproof jacket. Thinking of a Ronhill one. Bit boring but my winter running wardrobe needs updating so I’ve asked for some bits from DH as my Christmas present, I’m having a fine time online ‘window’ shopping at the moment

Quick whizz around the block today between the school run and a Teams meeting about DS’s SEN. Very muddy and slippery (our block is actually fields!).

Took the dog for a run. It was so muddy. He loved it. I wasn’t so sure.

Had a good post lockdown outing with my running club on Tuesday and a quick 1k on Wednesday for a challenge I'm doing. I've just reached halfway on the Lands End to John o'groats virtual challenge so all in all a good week so far!

Great running everyone! Especially in this lovely wet weather - unless that’s just me and you are running in the sunshine.
Did my onerun global run tonight, absolutely tipping down but relatively mild at about 4 degrees. Actually really enjoyed it, got a good look at all the Xmas lights. Felt quite cool to be stepping out the door at the same time as hundreds of other UK runners.

I must have got lucky - no rain here!

That virtual run event sounds great @emummy - how motivational!

Can’t remember who was asking re running jackets -I got a montane one for Xmas last year. It is fab - not sweaty and not rustly either. I wear it most runs in the winter.

Impromptu run today to get out of the house (wfh making me crazy) tried map my run to see how fast I am. Not very, it turns out!
