New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

Purple maybe 10 rounds will add in some tougher cardio? I love the sound of it - I never want my kids to walk in when I am doing les mills combat as I love it so much but know I look ridiculous Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 06/10/2020 00:14

Posted too soon - lol re Popeye friend! Got me thinking though Wouldn't it be great if bb/lmod could develop an injury range of workouts?

Ps I have never heard of leaps and had to google!

Reastie · 09/10/2020 06:58

Plink he is good thank you. Running and climbing all over the place and tamtruming already 😜. Naps are all over the place atm though because he’s getting towards dropping a nap but isn’t there yet so I never know what I’m getting each day which is making planning walks tricky.

Purple 🤣 to popeye!

Did a combat (the 40 minute bb one) last week end. Couldn’t do kicks but modified for my back and focused on punching hard! Arms and shoulders ached for a couple of days after so felt it was worthwhile. No walks this week with ds’ naps all over the place but don’t think I’ve gained.

Hope everyone is doing well. I think motivation is hard atm with the days getting cold and darker and all this covid stuff hanging over us

yumyumpoppycat · 11/10/2020 17:16

Reastie well done on combat I am hoping to do one this week. Ankle has improved a lot so fingers crossed.

Have done a lot better with diet and shifted my regain pounds so fingers crossed I can finally get to a 10lb off goal this week!

yumyumpoppycat · 11/10/2020 17:16

Oops sent too soon - hope all having a good weekend Smile

Purpleraindeer · 11/10/2020 18:31

That is fab poppy - you must be delighted. Well done!

Reastie - I hear you re the punching making your shoulders hurt. I’m doing 10 rounds and the top of my back and shoulders are so sore from it.

I’m feeling great this weekend. Finally knuckled down and did a long run (had been making a lot of excuses to avoid it) and it was fab. 11 miles and I felt great. Then went to a spin class with a friend today which was really fun. Has been nice to get out of an exercise rut.

Also I finally bought some exercise bands so will try those next week.

WhatILoved · 30/10/2020 06:28

Well done on the weight loss Poppy! It's all been quiet on here, wondering if folks are struggling with motivation like me! Always harder in winter months and with all this Covid stuff into the mix. In fact, I'm psyching myself up to do one of those morning workouts with Jericho. I like them as they are short! I'm trying to exercise every other day mainly for mental health. I'm lucky that I don't usually suffer anxiety or have mental health issues, but just recently with the thought of swathes of people losing jobs (my husband works in industry very much at risk and myself as a childminder if people don't work the children stop coming!) I have started to internally worry and get a few stress headaches. I'm writing down what I'm grateful for every day in a book. This is something I'd never have considered before, but it helps.

Half term has been quite lovely despite the weather. I took holiday and taken my children to empty tourist attractions we would usually avoid. We cancelled on seeing my parents because their island living, teamed with Covid restrictions would have made it pretty glum in this weather. My mum wants to play by rules and said she would be sad not hugging the kids. I've not seen them for almost a year now.

WhatILoved · 30/10/2020 06:28

Posted too soon. How is everyone and hope all is well

dueindecember10 · 01/11/2020 13:04

Hi everyone.
With the Boris announcement of last night I am back having temporarily deviated back to the gym. Going to start something this week. Maybe 10 rounds, maybe MBF (which I have done part of already). Determined to leave this lockdown better than I ended up from the first!
Hope everyone is well. X

Purpleraindeer · 05/11/2020 14:45

Hi everyone!
So - back to home exercising again for us all Sad
I’ve given up on 10 rounds - i didn’t enjoy the boxing enough to want to persist and was finding the coordination so difficult that it wasn’t giving me a good workout. Restarted ‘the work’ today and it was a bit of a shock to the system. I will be sore tomorrow. I’ve been back running again which feels great. I had a race on 5 Dec which I think will be cancelled but optimistically entered another ultra in April so fingers crossed

Hope you’re doing ok whatiloved - I was the same as you in april - I had anxiety symptoms and was crying a lot and really feeling it physically. I’m finding I’m struggling to get enough daylight and fresh air now and that tends to make me feel low so I need to get a grip on it quickly.

I’m taking the same approach as you dueindecember - I want to be fitter after 4 weeks. We can do it! Smile

dueindecember10 · 06/11/2020 13:03

Thanks for the heads up on 10 rounds @Purpleraindeer. I want to try it but am going to stick with mbf for now. Was it challenging enough? I’m pushing myself on the weights on mbf but I don’t think it is going to do amazing things for my cardiovascular fitness so supplementing it with some runs and got out on a bike ride with a friend this morning. I’m meant to be doing an ultra in March so can’t afford to lose too much cardio fitness.

WhatILoved · 06/11/2020 20:13

I'm no good at the martial art coordination thing either so I know what you mean! I did the MMA workout on the morning melt down this morning and made it up myself really.

Wow an ultra, really admire runners!

I've upped the yoga to keep me away from listening to the news or looking at it on my phone!

Purpleraindeer · 08/11/2020 19:31

How long is your ultra due in?
Mine is 40m. When I entered I thought it was 37m and then I realised that was the last checkpoint. Somehow the extra 3m feels a lot!
10 rounds was definitely not challenging enough. I quite enjoyed some of the boxing but it didn’t really do much for my cardio as I had to do it slowly to get the moves right. I know it wasn’t challenging enough now as I’m back on The Work and the first 2 workouts have felt very hard and I’m using much smaller weights than before.
Ran 14m this weekend which is my longest run in ages. Legs were a little bit broken today Smile

dueindecember10 · 10/11/2020 19:04

@Purpleraindeer next one is 50k. I did a 50 miler last time and it put me off running for a long time so trying not to burn out. I’m a real plodder so it should be ok. Just need to keep ticking over.

@WhatILoved any yoga recommendations? My sleep is awful at the moment so might try and add some in to help.

WhatILoved · 12/11/2020 20:44

@dueindecember10 I have been doing Yin with random people online - some local and some on yoga international. I find it relaxing rather than an exercise as it's all about stretching for a few minutes at a time. So you get into a deep stretch. Gosh that's lots of km to run don't know how you do it! My knees get the better of me

dueindecember10 · 14/11/2020 13:37

So I did a 21 day fix extreme workout (lower body) today. Loved it. BBOD is so great for being able to chop and change depending on your mood. What programs are others following at the moment?

Purpleraindeer · 16/11/2020 14:36

I love 21dfx! The original (not real time) version is great. Definitely give that a go. I think the real-time version is easier and not as good. There are 2 workouts in the original version (dirty 30 and the cardio one I think) which are really satisfyingly difficult.

I’m back on the work and really loving it. Legs on Thursday and endurance yesterday nearly killed me Smile.

I quite want to give mbf a try but want to keep on The Work for a while.

I know exactly what you mean re enjoying the variety. I periodically do my bbod faves - max30 tabata power, sweat intervals, friday fight abs the full body HIIT workouts from liift to do something different

dueindecember10 · 17/11/2020 18:40

@Purpleraindeer mbf is released to everyone on 18/12 so might be worth waiting rather than paying for early access for such a short time.

Well done on the work. Loved that program. 6 weeks is a perfect program length for me.

Theromanempire · 19/11/2020 06:22

Hi everyone, so sorry I haven't been posting on here - I think it's been months Blush in the meantime, I am steadily putting on weight and can't seem to break the cycle SadSad

Anyway, just wanted to say that I bought early access to MBF and MBFA - love, love, love it!!! We completed both workouts and have just started with round 2 of MBF. Would definitely recommend them if anyone is thinking of trying it the workouts. They are fast-paced which take some getting used to but you get there eventually! It is more weights than cardio which absolutely suits me but even the weights workouts have a small cardio element of skipping in it. Any questions, just ask Smile

Hope you are all ok - going off to read the thread now.

OP posts:
WhatILoved · 19/11/2020 16:50

Thanks for the review. I'm looking forward to starting MBF on18th. I've been dipping in and out of morning melt down and 21 days.
I think the dark days definitely hinder motivation!!

dueindecember10 · 20/11/2020 05:54

@Theromanempire - Really glad you are also enjoying MBF/A too. It has saved me this lockdown.

@WhatILoved - Well done on MM. I only tried one workout but couldn't get into it. It shows why I love BBOD. Something for all tastes.

WhatILoved · 20/11/2020 13:37

@dueindecember10 Yes I find I either get on well with the instructors or not - I quite like Jerico as there isn't too much cheesy motivational talk. For example I quite like the Barre workouts but I need to mute the lady who is talking about believing in yourself and unicorns and fairy dust (almost!) Haha. Went out for a run today and lungs almost turned into ice!

dueindecember10 · 22/11/2020 07:05

@WhatILoved - Definitely. I don't mind Autumn on 21 day fix but I've heard people say she is far too chatty on 80DO so I haven't tried that yet as like a time efficient workout option. Good work on the run. It's so hard when it's cold.

Purpleraindeer · 22/11/2020 18:56

Welcome back roman! Glad you’re ok. Keep up the mbf reviews!
I didn’t enjoy morning meltdown. I did it for a few weeks but couldn’t keep at it. I think it was the style of workout which didn’t suit me. I found that ridiculous DJ in the gym annoying. Grin
Autumn was very chatty in 80do. I think someone on this thread did it. Poppy maybe? I did a few of them but they were so loooong. I did a good hybrid of 80do/liift which was a perfect combo. Hard though.
Glad you’re all well. Feeling tired today. Long run yesterday, a The Work workout today along with vigorous digging in the garden. I could fall asleep now!

WhatILoved · 22/11/2020 22:02

Yes Jesse, the gym DJ, is very silly and plays rubbish tunes that all sound the same Grin
