New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

Has anyone been following the summit workouts on BOD this week? I've done the Joel one and the Megan Davies one. I might go old school and take on Shaun T tomorrow. Nice to mix things up a bit!

Reastie · 17/07/2020 15:16

Due are they actually at the summit or is it a virtual online type of one because of Covid?

dueindecember10 · 17/07/2020 15:41

It's virtual and so they have people following along at home in a zoom style workout. I'm also excited that they've bought the 10 rounds general release date forward to 1st September. Will definitely doing it then as had been toying with paying for early access.

Reastie · 18/07/2020 15:35

I have ordered my new balance trainers, same model number (but newer version), fx they fit ok as getting desperate with holes in old ones! Thanks for the advice purple, I kmow it sounds ridiculous, but I never thought about looking up the same model, I just assumed they would do different models all the time.

Did zoom step class last Sunday. Was so much fun but choreographed was v hard as it’s a v Choreographed class and it’s been years since my last one, and when you turn around to face the other way you don’t have the rest of the class behind you to follow to make sure you’re doing ok! Got it again tomorrow and hoping I’ll do a bit better. Was great fun though, I didn’t feel like I was working out.

Run this morning. Really poor speed (so slow and rubbish I’m not even going to share as I’m so embarrassed compared to thr other runners here). Stitch AGAIN! But I did have a celeb spot! Ran past dizzee rascal taking his daughter out in a push chair thing got a ‘morning, alright’ whilst I gave my usual chirpy ‘good morning’ I give everyone who doesn’t ignore me 😁. Honestly, if I didn’t know he lived in the area I would have had no idea who he was though, he looked quiet ‘cool’ iykwim and out of place in the predominantly middle aged plus private road I was I running on and he had music blaring out of his phone he was listening to. I had to google him when I got home as I thought it might have been him but I didn’t really know what he looked like 🤷🏻‍♀️. I like how I start off sounding all cool at the start of that sentence and then totally spoilt it by the end 🤣

Purpleraindeer · 19/07/2020 13:40

Hi all!
I ordered some new trainers too reastie - inspired by you. Fingers crossed they fit us.
Good sleb spot on a run, sorry to hear re the stitch. Have you tried the thing when you breath heavily out when your foot hits the floor. You might need to Google it - it used to work for me. There is no harm in being slow though - my running motto is to just walk if I feel tired so I’m pretty slow!

I’m feeling a bit knackered today. Finished the work yesterday. Was an epic workout. 7 moves, 100 reps of each. Shock my shoulders were feeling it today! Run today to test Achilles. It still felt sore though Sad

dueindecember10 · 19/07/2020 19:58

I'm getting new training envy!

@purpleraindeer - what's your post The Work plan? I'm almost half way through now and thinking ahead! 10 rounds is being released on 1 September now so I might just tread water till then.

My running mojo has well and truly disappeared. I need to try and coax it back!

Purpleraindeer · 19/07/2020 21:31

Are you enjoying the work dueindecember?
You’re getting through it fast! I hadn’t thought of what I will do now. Maybe some liift? Or the work again? Not sure. Or maybe some random workouts for a bit. Rest day tomorrow.

My running mojo left me for years. It has been nice to get it back. being injured is a bit miserable as I am finding it so frustrating not running for a few weeks and still finding it not getting better. I’m thinking I might have to see a physio to get some advice. Sigh.

dueindecember10 · 20/07/2020 10:07

@Purpleraindeer - I'm loving the work. I've been doing it over a 5/6 day week as don't like too many rest days which is why I seem to be steaming through. It's very challenging but I feel much stronger already.

Purpleraindeer · 24/07/2020 18:03

Hi all!
I was very unimaginative and am doing the work again. I’m half way through week 1. It is just as satisfyingly hard second time round Smile

dueindecember10 · 25/07/2020 06:19

@Purpleraindeer - I think certain workouts just hit the spot more with you than others sometimes. And with weighted ones you can add weight so always challenging. I also think with the BOD workouts that are filmed with a new workout for each day there is less of a tendency to get bored with the same old jokes and comments. When you had to do the DVDs and you had to do the same work out multiple times in the program it got a bit tedious.

Reastie · 25/07/2020 18:51

Thanks purple, I did the stitch trick and it didn’t work. This week I drunk less in the morning before I left (I always leave it at least an hour anyway after food and drink but...) and it was a bit better but still hampered progress. Managed to miss the rain though which was good. Sorry your Achilles is still playing up.

My knees are feeling rather achy since starting my step class on zoom which is a shame. Will do it tomorrow but may have to reassess. Did the trip on lmod last Monday which is like a spin class where the video is you cycling on a road through different fake scenery things to the music and instructor voice rather than a live class environment. Was a nice change but not sure if I prefer it or not. Had to ff the last track before cool down though as was just too much for me! Too much standing up cycling up hills.

WhatILoved · 27/07/2020 20:57

Hello
Thought I'd join this thread as I've started a free trial and really loving the Lift4 workouts. Is the subscription worth it? I'm also doing some of the barre ones which are quite fun. I'm not following the meal plans as I'm ok with keeping within calorie limits and getting enough protein etc.

WhatILoved · 27/07/2020 21:01

Argh posted too soon! I use my laptop and still find the website a big hard to navigate. I'm not sure I've seen all the programs on offer. I'd love to see a page that just lists them. I like lifting weights but like there to be some cardio/hiit too so I'm guessing lift4 is good for me right now. If anyone has any suggestions I'd love to hear. I'm a yoga international subscriber as I like to do that on rest days and listen to their meditation thingies

Reastie · 28/07/2020 10:54

Hi whatiloved welcome! I can’t help I’m afraid as I do lmod atm. I prefer to own my dvds because I’m old skool (can’t do that with lmod though) so my bb stuff I have on dvd. Bb have so many great workouts though. T25 are often a combo of weights and cardio moves if you want a short workout. Tony Horton tends to be more cardio or weights based rather than mixing the two imo. Shaun t is great with workouts like insanity where you can get toned using body weight and the cardio is fantastic imo. I don’t know about the most recent workouts as I haven’t done them.

I discovered lmod have some hybrid workouts mixing different programs so I had a glutes one yesterday as that’s my problem area. It was a combo of body pump and cxworx. Omg just doing the legs tracks on bp back to back was enough for super shaky legs! Today my upper legs ache a bit but not my glutes. I think I need to work on form as my glutes are so obscenely weak I think I change my form to avoid using them. Thinking of doing mini targeted glutes exercises for a few minutes every day to try and strengthen them up a bit. Of course, I say this like I’ve said the same about my core but never get around to doing it! Maybe glutes will be easier because I can do it standing up with a band without Ds climbing all over me and hitting me when I’m on the floor.

Plink hope you’re ok and everyone else

WhatILoved · 28/07/2020 18:02

Thanks @Reastie all that info is useful. I've got sore glutes today but legs ok! My kids wreck dvds they love taking them out the box!

dueindecember10 · 31/07/2020 13:24

@WhatILoved - I joined in May and have loved it. So much variety. Before BBOD I owned t25, Piyo, insanity and insanity max. Now I have access to all the programs. I've done LIIFT4 and am currently doing The Work. I'm hoping to do 10 rounds in September when it is released and MBF when that comes out in December. I was paying for 2 gym memberships before lockdown but BBOD is a game changer for me. The kids can be eating their breakfast whilst I'm getting a work out in. Have gone back to one of my gyms to serve my notice but it's so annoying only being able to go when my husband is around to look after the kids. Hope you find a program that works for you.

WhatILoved · 31/07/2020 16:54

@dueindecember10 I've decided to subscribe as really enjoying lift4. Thanks for the tips

WhatILoved · 31/07/2020 16:55

I definitely like it more than les Mills. I did a free subscription on that but didn't find these large groups motivating

dueindecember10 · 01/08/2020 11:31

@WhatILoved - I like the progressive nature of the BBOD programs which I didn't find on Les Mills. I enjoyed Les Mills for topping up what I was doing at the gym but not as a stand-alone product so much. Glad you're enjoying BBOD.

yumyumpoppycat · 09/08/2020 14:40

Hi whatiloved how is it going with your bbod sub? Agree with due about progressive. Attire on bb. I have lmod and like it but do feel better there's something missing. What I really miss though is getting the bbod packs with dvd, planner and diet book - it kind of generated some excitement. On dena d is much better value though.

How's it going with glutes Reastie?

Hope your injury is getting better purple

Hi to plink and Roman too!

I got logged out of my account and some sort of glitch would t allow me to reset, but in all honesty I haven't been working out. I need to crack in with a diet and lose weight desperately as I am scared I will be too obese and get made to lock down Confused

yumyumpoppycat · 09/08/2020 14:41

Progressive attire wtf 😂 that should be progressive nature

yumyumpoppycat · 09/08/2020 14:42

Sorry for all the typos - was on my phone

Purpleraindeer · 09/08/2020 17:32

Progressive attire sounds like some radical fash pack dressing poppy! Grin

Sorry to hear you’ve got the exercise fear. The first one is the worst and it’s never as bad as you think it’s going to be so hopefully you can mind game your way back into it.

I had been putting off trying to lose some lockdown lbs as I couldn’t face it but went hard core last week and was back on mfp at 1200 cals per day all week. It wasn’t as bad as I had thought. Got derailed slightly as had guests on Friday so ended up drinking but back on it on sat. I want to lose 4lbs which isn’t much but is a lot for me as I’m pretty short

I need to do another week and hopefully that’s enough to get me there. Am doing a second round of the work. Nearly died doing the one with 50 burpees last week. Shock

Reastie · 09/08/2020 17:53

Glute work not going great. Been lacking motivation and gained the 3lbs I’ve been gaining and losing for months on end. My resolve with food is missing and he really feeling I need a kick. This heat isn’t helping. Yesterday I did a run and my knees hurt (increasingly common since I restarted step zoom classes) and my back killed (another common issue, both are potentially down to glutes) so today I skipped step and did bodybalance (trying to be sensible...) then ever since I’ve been getting agonising twitches in one of my knees. Not a good sign. Think I may do core and glutes tomorrow, possibly a workout of my own imagination, just to do something despite aches and pains. I think step isn’t agreeing with me. Feeling miserable I used to work out 6 times a week and now I’m lucky for half that.

Maybe I should try bbod, I like the idea of progression (as well as progressive attire 🤣). Can anyone think of a program that could be done 3 days a week (in a row) without too much pressure from having no rest days between but still hit the main areas? Suitable for questionable knee and back?

Purple did you have a place on London marathon at all? Sounds like they’ve changed it this year but only just told people, must be so annoying to all those busy training.

Purpleraindeer · 10/08/2020 06:51

This heat is hard for workouts reastie - I’m definitely struggling!

I think all bbod workouts can be done 3days in a row as long as you do them in the order they say (so you don’t have 2x leg workouts back to back). All of the programs are 5 or 6 dpw and i usually do 3 or 4 as I run as well (not now though Sad) so I just do the workouts in the order they suggest, on whatever days I can fit it in and accept a 6wk program will take me 8 or 9 weeks.

in The Work they make a big deal of doing leg workouts with single leg exercises (eg lunges/ balances ) as apparently that is better for preventing injuries as it stops imbalances. So, might be worth a try for you? You could try it, or 6 weeks of Prep which is the program to prepare for The Work?
