New thread all Smile

plink I love the circuit workouts but they always fool me into thinking they are going to be easy but they hurt!! Shoulder intervals are definitely the easiest of them all and there for my favourites Grin

I did legs yesterday it was horrendous and that is with me not even really going for it, even Joel's smiley face couldn't help. Plink I am so glad its not just me who doesn't like leg workouts.

Roman I didn't think about the time zone and I was on the wrong social media - no wonder I couldn't find that workout Blush

Reastie how is your baby doing [heart] hoorah that weight is coming off wouldn't it be awesome to wee off 40 lbs - I could do with that happening!

Purple if anyone can do an ultra marathon it's you - go for it - would love to hear how it goes and about training etc if you do.

Reastie · 17/06/2019 18:32

Oh god the bfing hunger has set in. I forgot how intense it is. It’s like an all consuming pain that makes me feel I could genuinely cut off my own leg and eat it I’m so ravenous. I don’t know how I’m going to deal with this as it’s impossible not to give in to. I don’t want to put on 2 stone like before when I bf . I think some people are just wired to gain/retain bfing whereas others lose Envy . It’s not that what I’m eating is that bad but it’s just I can’t stop eating. I’ve already eaten today
Bowl muesli and rice puffs
Small banana naked snack bar
1 tofu stick, 4-5 pieces quinoa pizza, corn on the cob and carrots
Blueberries and plain yoghurt
Carrot sticks toddler crisps
Butternut squash Soup, 1 millet bread and weight watchers cheese
Bowl muesli and rice puffs (second bowl of the day!)
Porridge

Send help from my food mountain!

Yumy legs workouts always feel like such a slog. Ore injury my fave workouts were upper weights workouts as I felt strong and powerful and liked the fact they were challenging but felt good iykwim. Legs just feels like a hard slog.

Theromanempire · 17/06/2019 20:11

reastie I am no expert but if you are bfeeding and starving, is it because your body needs the extra fuel? I sympathise though as I hate the feeling of being hungry and I spend a lot of my time feeling it! Are you becoming more mobile now or does it still hurt to sit up?

yum which legs work out was it? If it was one in the first 6 weeks, they really are brutal but week 7 and week 8 Legs workouts take it to a whole new level of pain Confused

purple I would say do it to the ultra marathon - you would smash it and give you something to aim for?

plink thanks for the helpful advice on finding my way round Instagram! I found it and watched it...was,quite funny to see Joel struggling (and sweating and topless Wink) but I got the impression that he wasn't that impressed with the repetitive nature of it (to be fair, it did look particularly monotonous)

So onto week 5...have done the first 2 workouts as we needed to get a headstart this week due to lots of evening commitments so have done 4 days in a row!

Ugh - legs workouts are the worst. The side lunges are awful. Actually the only thing worse than a legs workout is the soreness after a legs workout! Well done for getting through it poppy. The combo of weights then HIIT is killer. I was sore for 2 days after the 21dfx legs day so I hope you don’t have the same!

Reastie I gained weight bf too. Sad when I had my ds (no 2) I ignored all the advice and did go on a diet once he was 8wks old. I don’t think there was an impact on my milk supply. I was very hungry though. It is still so early for you so I’m sure you’re doing the right thing and eating healthily while your milk supply establishes. Why don’t you set a time limit on that and in (say) 4wks time take a different approach if you’re still ravenous and are gaining?

Still flapping around unable to decide re this ultra. Was totally up for it last night but have got the fear this am. Deep down I think I will go for it though.

Reastie · 18/06/2019 08:53

Purple I think you should do it! Is it expensive to enter? Worst case scenario I’m wondering how much you’d lose if you couldn’t do it but entered it (which obviously would be a last case). Focus on how great and what achievement you’d feel when you finish it.

I had hot sweats last night, which was horrible but today I’m 2 lbs lighter and my ankles look more normal. Thanks for the sympathies, I know you’re right, I shouod leave it another few weeks before worrying about this and just focus on making healthy food choices even if I do eat a huge amount so at least I’m not getting in bad habits with lots of chocolate and cakes etc.

Thermo yesterday was the first day physically it was it little less pain. Still can’t do much but hurrah for some kind of of improvement. Well done four days in a row,

PlinkPlink · 18/06/2019 12:17

DS is 2 today so a little bit further on than 18 months purple he's not been too bad this week so far. Made him some cheesy pasta with chicken. He seems to have gotten over this little tummy thing he picked up which is good.
An ultra marathon?! Who comes up with these things? Haha. Sounds like a great goal to aim for though, I'd imagine the sense of achievement after would be immense! I reckon you should go for it if it's not too far out of your comfort zone purple ?

Reastie Haha the hunger is so strong. Hunger and thirst. I remember drinking tonnes of water 😂 you are eating magnificently well. So healthy!! Quinoa pizzas? You have to share that recipe 😂 we're big fans of the egg white pizza in this house. It'd be nice to try a different base.
Don't worry about the amount. Your body needs that fuel, you need that energy.

God yes yum I dread it every single week!! 😩 my bum still hurts from Saturday!!

Haha Roman him and his wife are the ultimate body couple goals. She is stunningly strong. There's quite an amusing post of him holding his Bengal cats in a pair of cat pyjamas.

Well yesterday was Week 3 Chest and Tris. Oh my days. My arms today are so freaking sore!! I upped my highest weight to 7.5kg but he did it in an all Chest exercises first then all Triceps format. It hurt like hell!! Tricep pushups are just awful - I run out of steam so early on. I could barely hold myself up by the end!!

Today is back and bis. Wish me luck!

Reastie · 18/06/2019 12:33

quinoa pizza recipe . This is a go to standard recipe here, it’s really easy once you’ve soaked the quinoa too. I do mine with cheese and tomato toppings not the vegan one she does but I’m light on cheese. I’m special diet so I haven’t had proper pizza for years but I reckon if you were expecting it to be as good as regular pizza you’d be disappointed, but for what it is it’s great and I have it often. Easy to freeze in slices and have as a packed lunch staple ready to go.

Plink good luck with back and biceps.

Reastie · 19/06/2019 09:46

One week post section today and have now lost 12 lbs :) . Did five minutes of gentle stretches this morning. Only stuff that didn’t feel like it did much around my stomach like neck stretches and calf raises and squatting against a wall and holding in place for 20 seconds. Really was very gentle but now wound hurting so maybe even that was too much at this point. But I’m trying at least! Steps on pedometer have gone up from under 300 the day I came home to nearly 1000 so very slowly building up. My body feels so weak and feeble but I guess that’s to be expected after 9 months of nothing. Maybe gentle stretches will be all I can do for a month or so but at least if I can do that I’ll be getting in a positive routine to build up from.

Purple, what did you decide with the marathon?

PlinkPlink · 19/06/2019 11:23

Thank you for that!! I'm gluten free anyway (have been since I was 21) and finding a whole host of other things my body is sensitive too as well lately so real pizza has not featured in my diet for years Haha.

Woah there now Reastie...

You are feeling weak and feeble because you just gave birth to another tiny human. Not because you didn't do much in your pregnancy. You did loads in your pregnancy, far more than what I did and I'm sure a few others on here would say the same.
Giving birth isn't like shelling peas as you well know and it takes an enormous toll on your body. Please don't think it's because of a lack of exercise. Please take it easy. Try and allow your body to rest and heal at least for 2 weeks whilst your scar heals. I know you're anxious to get back on the exercise train but seriously... your body has been through alot of trauma. Let it rest for a bit Smile

Theromanempire · 19/06/2019 13:48

reastie stop!! You have had major abdominal surgery and you need to be careful with the stitches etc! Gentle walking is about all you should be doing...Think I could manage a 10 minute walk round the block in these early days!! Plenty of time to get back on the exercise train but now is not the time

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 19/06/2019 17:21

Reastie - nooooooooooo!
Please bin the pedometer for another week. It really is best to do nothing - minimise standing, no lifting anything except the baby (no exceptions) and definitely no exercise no matter how gentle. I learned this the hard way - after my first section I thought the guidance didn’t apply to me, so I was walking quite a bit, lifting the buggy out of the car etc etc. I got an infection, my tummy felt sore and I was knackered and still felt the effects of the section weeks later. So, I followed the guidance to the letter second time around - After being bone idle for 2-3wks i was fine to drive, lifting dd (who was 18mths so quite heavy) and generally back to my old self. Seriously - the benefit of any exercise now is so minimal, but the downside is you put your recovery back. My other tip is to keep on top of your pain meds. I took them religiously for a few weeks and it made a big difference.
Lecture over Smile

Plink - well done on the bigger weights - that format of all chest, then all triceps is killer. By the end of liift I was fine with tricep push ups so hang in there - they do get easier.....

21dfx legs today and dirty 30 yesterday. I upped my weights on 1 leg squats so I’ll feel that tomorrow.

I entered the ultra. It is 50km. I mapped out my long run training plan. On paper it feels manageable but i know it will feel a bit different half way through a 20mile run. Shock. I’m excited though.

Reastie · 19/06/2019 18:45

Thank you for the advice, I need to take heed. We had an apt this afternoon to register ds’s birth. It was only a small trip out with minimal walking etc but it has completely done me in. I came home and had to sleep and have felt terrible since and properly emotional. I haven’t had a proper emotional crash yet so maybe this is it. I thought a week gone I had escaped the worst of that. I will listen to you and I will take it more easy. It jut felt like my pain level was improving somewhat (still on meds though) so I might manage a bit more. Obviously not. I have a big family thing on Sunday and something at dds school on Monday I’m now dreading as I don’t know how I’ll manage it if I couldn’t cope with today. Totally made me realise my limits and hopefully being careful now will make things easier later down the line.

Purple I’m glad you signed up for it as I think the challenge will be just what you’ll enjoy. I’m sure you can do it.

yumyumpoppycat · 19/06/2019 20:32

Reastie it's brilliant the weight is coming off and just shows you don't need to do anything other than let your body recover at the moment. I am the polar opposite to you as I am intrinsically lazy and I think the best part about having a newborn is that you can sit down breastfeed while watching some tv and still be doing something! Hopefully your family at the BBQ are the kind to sit you down and make you eat yummy food while they cuddle your baby?

week 2 day 1 done today chest I think? I think week 2 legs is hopefully a bit better from memory but I am not looking forward to it getting worse at week 6!

That is really exciting about ultra marathon purple!

yumyumpoppycat · 20/06/2019 07:20

Not sure if I am going to exercise today. I have been having pain in my heel for a couple of weeks. It is strange as I don't really notice it when I exercise, or have been walking a lot it is more when I first start walking after periods of rest. It seemed worse this morning. It is strange as it isn't obvious if it is from my shoes or if it's an Achilles thing Confused

Theromanempire · 20/06/2019 14:30

yum that sounds like plantar fasciitis...Google it! It's worse in the mornings when you get up but eases off as you walk around and loosen it up. I've had it and it is a nightmare but there is loads of information on the internet about exercises to do to help plus I got some physio on it as it was so painful. Good news is that it does go away and I've had no reoccurrence for about 5 years now!

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 20/06/2019 20:46

I was going to say exactly the same re plantar fasciitis. You might have to rest the legs and do loads of upper body workouts whilst it eases off. On the bright side you’ll be amazing at tricep push ups! Smile

Did cardio 21dfx plus the 10min core workout tonight. Half way through I realised today was supposed to be a rest day. Oops - I got confused as my normal routine was messed up this week. But thought I might as well finish as I had started. Run tomorrow. My legs will be tired by the end of that as it will be 4 days in a row which I don’t normally do.

Purpleraindeer · 21/06/2019 13:26

12miles done this morning. It felt warm. I’m trying not to eat the contents of the kitchen now. It has made me staaaaarving. Rest day tomorrow. Woo hoo

yumyumpoppycat · 22/06/2019 10:56

Thanks both I have looked it up and that does sound right! I have been wearing ballet flats and really high wedges recently as I thought people might judge me for always being in the same sensible boots so that wont have helped, plus I have high arches. I have also been meaning to replace my BB workout trainers for years... Yesterday though it was fine in the morning as I rested the day before but I was on my feet a lot and by bedtime I could hardly walk. Will have to check out the stretches (I am bad at stretching and it keeps coming back to bite me) and annoyingly actually buy new trainers!

I might ask you for tips roman if it doesn't improve.

Well done Purple on your 12 mile run that is amazing - you have definitely earned a rest day!

Purpleraindeer · 23/06/2019 18:58

How’s the heel now poppy? Funnily enough someone else I know mentioned getting plantar fasciitis from wearing too flat shoes recently. I’ve just taken to living in my Birkenstock’s when I’m not at work. They are sooooooo comfy.

Had a bit of a hangover this am but thought should go kill or cure with a workout. Did 21dfx upper and it cured! I was a bit amazed. I even found autumns constant motivational chat soothing so I mustn’t have been feeling quite right in the head Smile

Hope you’ve all had good weekends

Tilikum · 23/06/2019 20:34

Hi all, hope you don't mind if I join you. I just re registered for BOD and I plan to start 21DF tomorrow.

Hopefully posting here will keep me on track because for the past year I've been dipping in and out of exercising and now I want to commit to a programme, become completely ripped, be able to do one handed pull ups and have abs that I can bounce a coin off. Is that too much to ask?!

yumyum It's probably the ballet flats that have caused your plantar fascitis; any super flat shoes make mine flare up and it's so painful. There are loads of videos on YouTube of exercises you can do to help. One that I liked was to stand up barefoot and then pretend you were playing a piano with your toes instead of your fingers. Grin

Theromanempire · 23/06/2019 21:48

tilikum hi and welcome Smile you will see that we are all doing different workouts but 21df and Liift are definitely the most popular at the moment! My aims are slightly lower than yours...want to do proper push ups consistently and get to a size 12!

purple 21dfx with a hangover...impressive!

yum best 2 exercises that I was told was to do calf stretches off a step and also get a tennis ball and sit there whilst watching telly and just keep rolling it around under your foot. Quite therapeutic I always found. Other than that, it's just time. I was also recommended Fitflops but they aren't very stylish!

Did Week 5 Legs today...yet again, it was brutal. The words Joel and legs now strike fear in me every time Grin

OP posts:
Tilikum · 23/06/2019 21:57

Thanks Roman I'd love to be able to do a full push up too. Currently have the arm strength of a T Rex so it'll be a long road!

Purpleraindeer · 24/06/2019 07:40

Welcome tilikum - hope the first workout goes well. Post and let us know how you get on - the first week is always the toughest whilst you get a routine established.

Rest day today.

Theromanempire · 24/06/2019 11:06

So a sample Morning Meltdown 100 workout is on BBOD this morning. Having decided that I wasn't going to like it or do the programme, I have watched it (watched only rather than actually do the workout Grin) and I think I might have to eat my words. It looks really good - it's all set to music (which means DH will hate it), Jericho is really engaging and it looks challenging but with differing levels of modification options. It's going to take some persuasion to get DH on board though Hmm

OP posts:
Reastie · 24/06/2019 11:12

Hi all,

Been quiet a few days as feeling very overwhelmed with life a bit. Trying to get out and do stuff gently but finding I can’t manage and become very exhausted and tearful quickly. Hopefully it’ll improve. Last night I was crying to dh saying ‘I just want to be able to put my trainers on and go for a run but it feels like I’m a lifetime away from that’.

Tilikum hello! Thing is you can only get stronger from that point so anything’s a win :) sounds like you have high goals!

Thermo the physio uses for a tennis ball are infinite. I had to stand with a tennis ball on my back against a wall and press into the tender bits for my shoulder injury. Who knew it was such a handy thing!

Yumy new trainers might make a decent difference. I usually without fail get trainers every year, and I get a pair of running shoes and a pair of workout shoes at the same time. It really makes a difference to me when I have a new pair.

Purple well done on the run. Is this all part of the marathon training?
