I've been lurking on this thread and it's been really inspiring. I have a question- I've been doing c25k for a month. I repeated the first week and just finished wk 3 which I found easy. I joined dh at the park run on Saturday, didn't complete (stopped at 4k) but ran almost all the way (walked for 3 mins in the middle). I didn't have any kind of app, but I think I ran 2k without stopping, walked a bit, then ran the rest. So now week 4 looks a bit too easy. Would I be silly to skip to week 6??

Faz, should be ok I'd have thought....presumably you're reasonably fit already. One warning, i think I have shin splints and have decided to take a break on wk 9 😩 as it was getting worse each time - gutted. Think doing too much too soon or being overweight (that's me) are the main causes. So take it back a step if you get sore shins!

W9R1. I did it! I ran for 30 minutes. Bugger me. Still remember panicking in the early weeks at the thought of having to run for 3 minutes.
faz personally I would stick to the programme as its designed to be incremental but you could always try and run a bit faster if you are finding it easy.
steve shin splints are agony. nothing to do but rest for a while. Maybe invest in more cushioned running shoes?

That's brilliant demented! Ive only just bought new running shoes - I did try a cushioned pair but they felt odd to wear. If it starts again I'll invest in them though. A week of no running and legs feel a bit better but still sore so don't want to risk it just yet. So close to the end though, don't want to leave it too long.

I've had my laparoscopy and excision and removal of scar tissue today and the surgeon quoted 6 weeks no running. 6 WEEKS!!!
I mean it's far too painful to think about at this instance but 6 WHOLE WEEKS!!!!

I've just started. I'm on Week 2 Run 2 today! it's bloody hard. Should we start a new thread? Are there other newbies?

Hi StVincent,

It might be worth it. I can’t see another, more recent c25k thread anywhere. It does feel hard, doesn’t it? I live in quite a hilly place too, which doesn’t exactly help!

Hi Newbies. Please keep at it. It seems unbelievable that I started this during the cold dark evenings of January, running outside and struggling with the first few weeks. I remember week 3 being hard, and week 6, but none of them easy. Im in week 9 now and still find it hard Im afraid, but i can jog for 30 minutes and 4km. Im 55, overweight and asthmatic. I have lost 10lbs, dropped a dress size and lost 15 cm in total from boobs, bum and thighs. Dont give up!!!

Hi newbies :)
I think a lot of us started in January- New Years resolutions Grin
It’s hard to imagine that I’d never run anywhere since school but that now I feel ok about running 4km or 5km three times a week.
I have only lost a couple of pounds but I was doing it for fitness really. I’m 44 and a bit overweight. I definitely have muscles on my legs that I didn’t have before!

I’m a newbie too, just completed week 1.

Should we start a new thread for people starting now?

By the way, huge respect for those of you who started this in the freezing cold winter!

Yay!! That's brilliant!! I started a few weeks back. Had to have a week off as had a horrible cold but did week 3 run 2 yesterday. I'm amazed that I'm running more than 6 paces without getting out of breath. It's a really good program so fingers crossed I get to the end!! Good luck and keep going 👏👏👏

I have one more run to do to complete the programme. should have gone today but preferred to stay home, drink gin and eat cake. I'm going to pay for that choice!
I woud have to say that for me 30 mins, doesn't equal 5K so it's been more of a couch to 4K but it's a great programme and you CAN do it. Just keep putting one foot infront of the other.

It's a fantastic feeling isn't it dementedma, knowing you're about to graduate? I've managed to add an extra 3 minutes running to my 30 minutes but not at the elusive 5K, just glad to keep going. Is today going to be your graduation day?

Macs18 · 31/03/2019 19:54

So today I completed my first 5k run, it was a chipped race and I completed it in 40 minutes. I'm so delighted with myself! I just hope I stick at it!

well done violet!! And macs! and demented!

I have had a couple of weeks malingering, and we were away for a bit too
After W9r3 on the sunday, I madly did a W1r1 on monday on the treadmill and went a bit too fast but lived,
then in a another fit of madness on the tuesday I did a yoga class, 90 minutes of far too much stretching for a middle aged person who has not yoga'd for 26 years.

the result of which was not pretty...I felt like a perished elastic band and spent the whole week away expecting things to drop off at any given moment.

plus my new phone won't stay awake for more than 10 minutes so it's been an utter shitshow...of all the things to cause a setback Hmm

ANYWAY...I think I have managed to set the C25K app to prevent the phone sleeping, so will have another bash tomorrow on the treadmill ...I have killed time this week half heartedly on the cross trainer, and I really want to get on with the treadmill.

C- Must Do Better on my C25K report this week.

I graduated tonight. really struggled with the motivation after a tough day in work and a biting cold wind outside, but did 31 minutes and have completed the programme! Feeling very proud.
have my first 5K fun run at the end of April so need to get a wee bit more distance under my belt. thanks for all the support on this thread

Hello all :) completed week 4 last week but now I've had a week off as I needed to visit another city for a few days and my DS is off school now. Going to do another week 4 run tomorrow (no DS) but can't go out next week either (DS) so can't move on to week 5. Worried about losing everything I've done so far and dreading moving on to week 5. Any advice? X

This is my last chance to get fit and feel better about myself. Any tips? Thanks
