MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours well done. Hope wheeze is ok

TitsalinaBumSquash · 08/03/2019 08:32

I have found it impossible to get past w4r1 -
I have tried it over and over and just can't get through the third run, by the middle of the second I'm struggling, legs tight and painful and my breathing out of control. It's really got me down.

timetomoveon · 08/03/2019 09:13

@TitsalinaBumSquash have you tried slowing the first two parts right down? Or can you go back and do the run before a couple more times before you try that one again?

TheSteveMilliband · 08/03/2019 10:01

W8R2 done. I had been running in the park (running several times round) or just running around locally, but have found a route that's circular, nice, pretty flat and it makes such a difference. Not clock watching anymore, know the landmarks to target and am pushing myself to get a bit further each time. Still plodding though, and beginning to think what to do next as having the programme has both helped get me here in terms of fitness but also motivation. Timetomoveon Congrats!!!! Will also be watching to see what you do next.
I've been feeling ok running but when I stop have really sore legs (inside lower leg) - suspect its shin splints as I'm overweight and hadn't run in a long time before starting C25K. Doesn't seem to be improving but running through it at the moment and will have an enforced few days off anyway with next run Tuesday.
I think I'd go back to week 3 and take the runs really slowly before, trying week 4 again Titsalina - are you going too fast do you think? Certain weeks seem to be particularly hard (I really struggled with week 6) but once through it got easier again.

Shepherdspy83 · 08/03/2019 12:01

Just finished W5 R3 so feeling pretty chuffed with myself 🥳. I was very very slow but just gonna have to be patient when it comes to speeding up I suppose.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 08/03/2019 15:19

I've done week 3 a few times I'm struggling with pacing I run on a treadmill and don't run fast any of the time I've only got little legs.

Coldandfrosty · 08/03/2019 22:59

TitsalinaBumSquash can you try running outside? Also do some longer walks outdoors? You are at the point I struggled with and stopped when I have up before. I think the difference that means I've done it this time is I did months of extra walking.

Coldandfrosty · 08/03/2019 23:00

Today I signed up for a 10k...who the hell even am I?!

Need some kind of 5 to 10k app now

timetomoveon · 09/03/2019 03:14

Errrrmmmm wow @coldandfrosty - I’m so impressed by you. I can’t imagine going past the 5k.

timetomoveon · 09/03/2019 03:16

Oh and I know that the Runtastic app has some programs for 5k/10k/half marathons but there’s also a couch to 10k app as well

Coldandfrosty · 10/03/2019 14:03

So today I did my final c25k run. I put the app on when they did the warm up, started running right when the start bell went and didn't stop until 5k was up, which was after the cool down time. Took me 36 min.

It was snowing here this morning and then freezing icy rain the whole way round. I'm beyond delighted that I ran it all. I never ever ever ever thought I could complete this app. Huge thanks to all of you along the way. Keep going everyone who hasn't finished, it's so worth it.

c25k week one day one!
Shepherdspy83 · 10/03/2019 14:28

Well done cold! Bet that felt good.

vjg13 · 10/03/2019 15:24

Well done ColdandFrosty you are doing so well!

I've done my 3 X 30 minute runs this week but really counted down the minutes. I need to sort my head out because I know I can do it and definitely feel the benefit of running.

Macs18 · 10/03/2019 20:32

I'm a little behind on schedule as we've had a busy week or so.
I had to run w8r3 today and just couldn't do it. I came home and cried.
I've posted before about how I've found the programme literally life changing. I have just loved it, I just can't help feel like a total flop today. Couldn't even manage 10mins. We've had a few nights out in a row...so body isn't in the best of shape! But still...i thought I'd have been able to keep plodding on. I may just try again!

timetomoveon · 11/03/2019 09:54

Well done frosty - that’s brilliant. Congratulations graduate :)
I went for my regular Monday morning run - I was going to do 4.8 to build up but I felt good and so did my first 5k too. Took 35 minutes. And then I finally confessed all on fb to my friends and family and had lots of lovely comments too :)
@Macs18 - I think if you’ve had a few beers then it’s definitely harder. I noticed on Friday morning last week that it was harder as if had some drinks the night before.
Try again - you’ll get there.

timetomoveon · 11/03/2019 10:01

And I made a new thread - there’s a lot of us about to graduate or just graduated so I thought it might be nice to keep motivating each other. This thread has made a real difference - I’m really thankful for all the support.

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 11/03/2019 12:39

well done coldandfrosty AND timetomoveon what a pair of stars!

I chickened out of W9R3 this morning, and repeated R1 ....I know it's the same, but I really wasn't feeling it, and didn't want to struggle through the last one
I managed it not badly actually and surprised myself, but I am going to do W9 1,2,3 again so wed/ fri/sat and really have at it

Then I will start over on the treadmill, ankles permitting.....as have been winging it on the cross trainer .

Violetroselily · 11/03/2019 22:13

Congratulations @coldandfrosty and @timetomoveon

I've taken a week off after the struggles of W8. Determined to start W9 tomorrow but my confidence is gone after a couple of bad runs on W8 and right now 30 mins feels totally unachievable. I felt so proud of myself for flying through W1 to W7, so struggling now feels like a massive blow. I'm generally feeling pretty shit physically/mentally anyway...I know I'll feel better for running myself out of this rut - I just need to get the motivation to do it!!

Onwards and upwards...hoping to join you all on the new thread soon

Fiddie · 12/03/2019 00:06

@Violetroselily you're doing better than me. I totally failed wk8r1 then hurt my back and I've done only one 15 minute run since.

Supposed to be doing wk8 r1 tomorrow but I've lost my mojo, and am doubting if I ever really enjoyed it at all.

I'm quite disappointed in myself.

vjg13 · 12/03/2019 17:58

I don't enjoy the actual running but I do enjoy the sense of achievement afterwards and the positive health benefits. I had a depressing visit to a possible day service for my adult daughter with learning difficulties last week, followed by a phone call arranging an ashes internment and I did feel much better after my run.

I still am amazed and proud that I can run for 30 mins and not die! Smile

Violetroselily · 12/03/2019 19:11

I'm the same, I enjoyed the high afterwards and the sense of accomplishment...not the actual running. Think thats why I'm so annoyed that I'm struggling.

Well done @vjg13

Violetroselily · 12/03/2019 20:49

Just did W9R1, managed 4k in the 30 minutes. Feeling happy.

Grin
vjg13 · 12/03/2019 21:06

Fantastic, 2 more runs to graduation!

timetomoveon · 13/03/2019 07:42

Woohoo! Well done ladies :)
I don’t like the running at all but by the time I’ve finished the 5 minute walk at the end and Michael was all encouraging and told me how awesome I was, then I felt like I’d enjoyed it Grin

MsMightyTitanAndHerTroubadours · 13/03/2019 09:19

another W9 repeat! Sunday will be my last one, not saturday!

and then I am going to start all over again on the treadmill and see how long that takes to kill me or my ankles.

I only do it for the smug feeling of Not Actually Being Dead after 30 minutes. That tends to last me until lunchtime when I eat all the things, because, I ran
