After doing this in 2018 a new thread for new folk to join the 2019 challenge. Pick your target, log your miles and see what you can achieve whilst encouraging each other Smile Anyone want to join me?

Thanks @TriSkiRun99 it's hard work getting the miles in and as a result my weight loss has really started to tail off 😩

I don't think I realised just how much walking 40/50 miles a week was helping me to shift the last bits of pregnancy weight gain!

thenewaveragebear1983 · 02/07/2019 20:27

I can imagine Amy. Have you tried any other exercise? There's some really good hiit type workouts that might help tone you up but not take as long as walking miles!

TriSkiRun99 · 04/07/2019 08:26

I used my 2nd maternity leave period of low stress and walking everywhere to lose 3stone. Sadly over the last 6yrs I’ve re-gained 2stone. I’m back at my pre-pregnancy weight, my body seems to settle here unless I make huge effort to NOT eat, I just do not lose weight, I’m sure work stress plays a big part as well. Ho hum I’ll keep running to keep me stable. I Only took up running as I couldn’t fit in the walking i used to do...
5k run this morning pre-work.

Tri I often wonder how effective running actually is for weightloss anyway- maintenance definitely, but actually losing weight? I find it just ramps up my appetite and unless I have the right foods to hand, it leads me the wrong way cakes biscuits bread. You are very versatile with your sports which probably helps but I just run and weekly do circuits, so i seem to just maintain! I have tried swimming but it's not my preference! (Plus our local pool is heated from the crematorium next door and although it shouldn't because it's groundbreaking eco technology, it really really freaks me out Grin)

Swam at lunchtime 1k. I’m laughing at your crematorium heated swim pool that sounds eco-cool but yes rather freaky. Running makes me hungry but for my DH it kills his appetite Hmm I like running for mental health now as much as anything. My metabolism has really slowed in last two years in my mid-40s and peri-menopausal. I used to be able to have a strict 1-2wks and lose 7lbs, now I’m lucky if I drop a lb and then i re-gain it if i take my eye off the ball again...so the exercise 5/6d a week is keeping me at the 2st overweight level, it’s just a shame I don’t “look fit” unlike my size10 sister who does zero exercise..

Hah- literally nothing kills my appetite. I would eat all day if I let myself

Quick 5.5km in the hot sun this morning, with a few gruelling hill laps thrown in

31.42 miles of walking done this week, @thenewaveragebear1983 I hadn't thought about doing anything else, I'll have a look at some hiit workouts and see if they help make a difference! I think I've got stuck in a walking rut so mixing it up can only be a good thing.

1049.49/450.51

Need to average 18 miles a week for my 1500 target.

thenewaveragebear1983 · 08/07/2019 08:19

Amy I use a lady on YouTube called Emi Wong, she does lots of different hiit workouts, I particularly like her 'no jumping' ones because you can do them barefoot. Or yoga with Adrienne is also very good.
