After doing this in 2018 a new thread for new folk to join the 2019 challenge. Pick your target, log your miles and see what you can achieve whilst encouraging each other Smile Anyone want to join me?

Didn't run all weekend and it was nice to have a break!
Did 9 on Friday with my friend

Total for Nov = 117k (3.9/day)
Total for year = 1590 (4.76/day)

Current targets are 1608 (1000 miles) which is manageable

If I can get as far as 1647km that's as far as from krakow to London which will make my polish students smile

If I can get up to 1700 (also, just doable) I'll be pleased - but I'm not going to aim for more than that. I would like to start 2020 without a bad leg and the only way to achieve that is to give myself a break.

Your doing really well bear and sometimes we do have to take a break or wear out i think Crown Grin. I had nearly 2wks off running because of the latest virus but still got 83.5k in Nov which I’m really pleased with for me. Had a lovely cold frosty run this morning squeezed out 12k, would have had liked to do more but my eldest was off school at home alone watching TV so I had a cut off time to get back. I’m chasing down my last 72k now, which if no more illness or injury strikes I’d like to get by the 24th Dec so I can “earn” my 1000km medal Xmas Smile I’ve already got it from an online challenge, but asked DH to give it too me at Xmas. I’m still struggling with sore toes under my foot joint after runs, and tried 3more pairs of shoes which have all gone back Xmas Confused as not wide enough normally... anyone would think I’ve got massive feet but they can’t be that bad I’m only a short arse.

Oh and I’ve secretly signed up for a marathon in May Crown Grin... my next big challenge! My DH knows I’m tentatively building upto it but not that I’ve paid my £40 to enter.

Is that a metatarsal thing Tri? I remember reading that somewhere about metatarsalgia.. but not sure of the details.

Oh it maybe I’ll have a look, tbh at my age the peri-menopausal hormone stuff seems to make your joints hurt a lot more Hmm but I’ll check it out. I’ve started going arrhohm when getting out of bed in the morning now 🙈

Ol I've done a bit of googling - when I had metatarsalgia, I read that you can get something under your foot (feels like a stone under your toes?) called Morton's neuroma? Could it be that? Metatarsalgia is just a 'catch all' term for any kind of metatarsal pain and the only treatment is the rest, ice? Compression, elevate - which I'm sure you're already doing.
Hope you feel better soon, it's rubbish when pain stops running Thanks

Did 9k today but I was a bit disappointed because I thought I'd gone further- it certainly felt like further!

That's 1599 anyway

Last year I did 1598k so I'm into new territory....

Thanks bear I had a google and don’t think it’s that, it’s probably more likely linked to arches I think as stretching & icing helps. I’ve never had it before but I got new shoes in May, same brand & style but I’m not convinced the quality is the same... I think it’s linked hence me trying in vane to find a different shoe but everything is pointing back to what i currently run in... I’m going to keep experimenting with lacing as well as supports and make an effort to shift some weight as I’m 2st overweight which can’t be helping!

Quick 5k post school run & before work this morning, but boy it was cold bone chilling today as sun hadn’t really broken through.

I hope it isn't something too serious tri, unfortunately with 99% of these running injuries they are cumulative, technique and/or trainers related, and only really resolved by properly resting it. I'm the same with my hamstring. It doesn't hurt quite enough to stop running for 2 weeks but I know if I did it would help me....
I decided last night that if/when I reach my target I am stopping running until 1st jan- so probably having 2 weeks off unless I actually really want to run.

You never really can tell with trainers until you've run in them either, which doesn't help does it?

Hope your ok amy it’s been a crap time for illness in our house, my DH and eldest DD are now well into week2 of the same cold that floored me for 2wks. Really hoping we are all bug free by Xmas!

Training goal achieved this morning Xmas Grin 13.1 miles ran yah! The last 2m were tough mentally as I had to add a 0.5m loop on or be forced to run past my house which wasn’t gonna happen! SO pleased to have done it though.

Well done tri, it's a long time since I've done a half and it seems a long way off for me right now

Amy well done too. What a year!

I'm gearing up for my gearing down if that makes sense?! I have a massage booked on weds and then I am planning 2 weeks off running (although will focus on some strength training to build myself back up) and will be walking a bit to get the exercise in or I'll go mad. If I can I'll do one last run tomorrow, but it really depends on the weather and a delivery slot I'm waiting for. And of course, how painful my leg is!

A lot of my Facebook friends are signing up for races and half's next year and it makes me feel sad that right now it's not a possibility for me (at least a half isn't) - I know I have to rest this injury now, but I feel a bit down about it.

I'll be lurking on here til the bitter end though Grin

Rest and recover bear and do some different stuff and it will get better. I’ve taken off several chunks of time this year and your body still retains the muscle memory. Is swimming an option? Or cycle trainer as both are non weight baring and have helped me heal running niggles. I missed my massage this month as I was sick & ive really noticed it, but I’ve got another booked in for 22nd Smile I try to go every 4-5wks to a sports massage therapist she’s amazing and keeps me moving! Enjoy your break.

Get well soon little amys it sure is a crap time of year for bugs.

Still lurking! I'm now on day 5 of no running, 2 days post massage. I still have some glute pain and although I am itching to run I know I can't/shouldn't. I did gently test myself on the school run today with Ds doing a few 'races' - still painful so I'm being good and staying in for a few more days.
