Anyone up for a bit of half m support?

I'm registered to run my first half m in early September.

I'm struggling a bit with motivation tbh. I think I peaked too soon - could have done it 6 weeks ago. I've got time to get prepared though - it's 8 weeks away and I'm not starting from scratch. The most important thing for me is to keep up the strength work or my knees go kerboom.

Anyone else?

Good luck lurker hope it goes ok.

I did a speed session tonight using the NHS 5k + speed podcast with nice lady telling you that you can keep going fast for 1min segments Grin was really warm 18c at 6pm?!

Despite my plans I've not been running sInce Tuesday as I've had problems at home. Hopefully I'll get out on Tuesday.

I can’t work out how to link as I got it from App Store but I’ve attached a screen shot.

mammymammyIRL · 14/10/2017 19:55

We've a hurricane coming here on Monday so I'm going to run tomorrow morning!

mammymammyIRL · 15/10/2017 12:17

I got back out there - i thought I was getting a heart attack or that I'd puke but I survived & my pace is still good.

Well done mammy I really want to get back out but not likely until Tuesday as no childcare etc. It's only the day after tomorrow I suppose!

Hurricane forecast here too 😨

TriGirl007 · 15/10/2017 16:31

I went out early but didn’t find it easy (too hot) had to stop 3-4x for 1min stretch outs as joint aching. I made 11k but cut short from the planned 14k.

mammymammyIRL · 15/10/2017 20:05

Mine it would be unsafe to run tomo Wink
Tri it's disappointing when you can't do what you planned but you still did a great distance Smile

Rankellior · 15/10/2017 20:19

Sorry I’ve been MIA for a while. Niggly injuries and horrible insomnia meant I was not in the best shape today - BUT - I did it. I ran (mostly) 13.1 miles - from being a non runner in April to today. Feeling pretty pleased and whilst my time was woeful it gives me reason enough to book another one next year!

Will try and catch up on everyone’s news now I’m out of my little pity party. mammy hope the weather doesn’t impact you too much

minesapintofwine · 15/10/2017 21:38

Well bloody done rankellior that's flipping awesome! 💪

randomsabreuse · 16/10/2017 07:28

I'm done. In several senses of the word! 2 hours 20 and 45 wretched seconds on chip time with my best Strava 10k, 15k and 20k en route.

Was aiming for sub 2.30 so I am pleased but at the same time annoyed because I could have gone 46s quicker over 13 miles.

Ran the whole thing, pretty even pace with a decent finishing kick plus sprint for the line. Worst bit was at 15km - not sure why.

Feet feeling a little sore this morning but should loosen off.

There will be another one - don't know exactly how soon but there will be!

minesapintofwine · 16/10/2017 07:44

randoms well done that sounds like a really successful race!

mammymammyIRL · 16/10/2017 17:16

Well done random
Thanks rankellior we're all good & safe Smile

Just looked up my other half - previous time was 2.41 so PB by 20 minutes!!! Amazing the difference consistent training made - the first one I followed the bupa plan for long run distances and did maybe 2 other runs a week. This time I had a mileage target and specific long runs which I followed fairly well (1 week off with a lurgy and 1 weekend when I underestimated the time DH would be out). Still got a long way to go towards being fit and not overweight though!

HRHPrincessMegan · 16/10/2017 20:22

Well done random and rank!

LongtimeLurkerNowPokemonHunter · 17/10/2017 10:02

I did the half in Birmingham Sunday. Found it hot and horrible hill at the end. 4 mins slower than my previous half at 2.14 but I have done two halfs in a fortnight with one run in between so it was OK. Focusing on 10k next. Realised I've never run sub 60 for 10k except in the two halfs. Bizarre

mammymammyIRL · 17/10/2017 12:05

longtimelurker That's interesting - do you hold back do you think on 10k's more so than halfs?

Two in a fortnight is amazing
