The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

Wow there are some great long distances here. Well done to everyone.

NoCryingInEngineering · 25/10/2017 13:52

Always a good feeling when you hit a milestone like that cinnamon

A nice wee lunch time run today, the same loop in town I've used a couple of times recently but trying to push the pace a little. Which backfired a little in the last 1/2mile or so but then at least that means I was pushing myself.

284.5

cinnamongreyhound · 26/10/2017 13:14

Do you mean 384.5 NoCryingInEngineering? Adding 2.5 miles?

I have 4 more to add to that if it is so 388.5

It was freezing this morning, think I need to look out my running hat!

I’ve decided to set myself a new goal for rest of the year - a parkrun PB before 2018.

Won’t have many opportunities as I have the buggy most Saturday mornings but going to give it a go.

Then a February half 😬

393.5

cinnamongreyhound · 26/10/2017 21:46

It was 9C here at 6am MyBlackCat, 15C Tuesday at 6pm!!!

4.5 miles to add

398.1

NoCryingInEngineering · 27/10/2017 17:03

I meant the sub-30 parkrun. Amazing how 29:59 seems so much faster than 30:01

Firefries · 28/10/2017 07:02

3.1 miles to add

So 401.2

emummy · 28/10/2017 11:01

Parkrun this morning. Only do it occasionally when ds doesn't have swimming so last one on this course was a year ago. 14 sec slower today, felt sick in the middle then great at the end! Not sure what this means for cross country next week, wonder if an interval session on Tuesday would help?!

404.3

cinnamongreyhound · 28/10/2017 13:04

No I knew you meant the parkrun for milestone NocryingInEngineering but we lost 100 miles onyour post so was just checking on the distance you’d run. I appreciated the encouragement I was over a minute slower today!

parkrun, I run past me street and I almost came home at the start of the second lap, stupid head monsters!! 407.4

You lot have inspired me to do some heart rate training tomorrow. Not sure how slow the speed will be, but looking forward to a gentle run.

MyBlackCat · 28/10/2017 18:45

Warm up the parkrun - went all out for a PB today, kept the required pace up for about 5 mins before I crashed and burned. Not a great day Sad

climbing - embrace and enjoy the very easy runs Grin

Chilly sunny run in the woods, managed to run up the biggest hill without stopping, hurray!

ClimbingPenguin · 29/10/2017 17:14

8.5 miles at slow speed.

425.5

MyBlackCat · 29/10/2017 18:02

How did you find it climbing?

I abandoned HR training today and went gadget free for a run through the fields. Loved it Smile

Running thread part 10
JaggyThistleLovesArchie · 29/10/2017 19:30

No running for me this week unfortunately. My niggly hip last Sunday turned sore on Monday so I have rested all week. Feeling much better now so will hopefully get out for a few gentle runs next week.

ClimbingPenguin · 29/10/2017 21:45

I quite enjoyed it actually blackcat, nice to have no pressure. Although i found it interesting that different parts of me hurt afterwards. Wonder if I’ll be m ore in tune with my core body rather than what hurts when your going fast/concentrating on breathing.

Need to get better at doing my physio exercises. Any tips other than stop being lazy? I plan to use winter to strengthen my core and glutes before training properly again.

MyBlackCat · 30/10/2017 09:10

It took me a while to get used to it, I found my hips and feet hurt particularly on longer runs.

I also need to incorporate some strength work into my training, time is going to be an issue —excuse— as I return to FT work after maternity leave in a couple of weeks 🙁

cinnamongreyhound · 30/10/2017 16:18

Boo to full time work MyBlackCat!

Hope your hip holds out ok JaggedThistleLovesArchie!

I marshalled a charity 5k yesterday so no Sunday running. Ds3 has croup so not sure I’ll make canicross tonight either.

ClimbingPenguin · 30/10/2017 19:38

Both mine are in school now, but I’m going from a 15 minute commute to a commute to London (1.45 hrs) for 9 months starting Wednesday! Am sure my running will be really impacted and trying to not feel guilty about husband picking up the slack and more after school club for the kids

ClimbingPenguin · 30/10/2017 19:39

Hope DC feels better soon cinnamon

NoCryingInEngineering · 30/10/2017 19:54

Ah sorry cinnamon, total proof reading fail.

Took my new Garmin out for a spin at lunch time. Need some practice with the controls as I managed to accidentally fast forward through the last set of intervals trying to check distance run and had to just make up the last bit. But was significantly faster than last time out.

437.9

emummy · 31/10/2017 10:21

Hope your hip improves this week Jaggy and cinnamon get well soon wishes to ds3.
Muddy damp forest run today, hard to be sure of pace as woods seemed to be full of dogs who wanted to play/mate with mine! So very stop start today.

440.9

bibblebobblebubble · 31/10/2017 21:51

Hope you are better soon jaggy - able to do anything yet?

I ran partway home from work again - 3.5 miles, a bit stop-start with crossing roads and weaving in and out of people

A rather neat 444.4
