The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

Nursed the knee around Sherwood Pines parkrun, not too bad - going to have another week off I think then go again. Can’t decide whether to enter another race before Christmas?

bibble I’m no expert but I have been training by HR doing most of my runs at 60-70% max HR which feels very slow, once a week I do hills or intervals. I’ve taken 3 mins off 10k PB and almost 5 off half marathon - running five times a week.

LittleWitch · 15/10/2017 09:35

Back on it today - couldn’t get a run in during the week as too busy, but going to do hill session today. Have entered a local 10k trail run which is four weeks today, and the first half is steeply uphill on moorland Shock. Haven’t run that distance for two years so gonna be in for a shock I reckon. Still, it’s all in a good cause...

12 miles today. A nice run with the leaves changing colour. A bit windy but not too bad.

LittleWitch · 17/10/2017 06:08

Ran walked 9 km off road up to my knees in mud.
@240.

1st holiday run! Up a very rocky path to a high cliff, beautiful morning, no people, just wild goats! Now sitting giving feet a cool down in the pool. Love Majorca!

4 miles this morning with a running group I've just joined.
We did intervals.
Bloody tough, but I feel amazing now.

I'll be going back but have to be after half term

Beautiful run and view emummy!

Adding 3 miles today so >>> 752.36

Firefries · 17/10/2017 19:26

No I think the 752.36 is wrong.

Try a total now of 247!!

Sorry

cinnamongreyhound · 17/10/2017 21:29

Hi bibblebobblebubble! Interval training is the best way to increase speed. Whether it be time or between lamp posts, bursts of faster pace followed by recovery and repeat!

Have a lovely time emummy!!

I think the total needs to be 251 to include MarvellousMarg's 4 miles.

Short run to fitcamp last night as I couldnt run tonight and my friend is away so no weds am run 251.3

Life has been mad and interfered with my running - back to it this morning with a tiny 1.5 mile rainy run. Felt great.

bibblebobblebubble · 18/10/2017 18:33

Ah I thought it might be interval training - thought there might be some easier way but guess there is no short cut!

Went to gym today and just short treadmill run but planning Parkrun at weekens

emummy · 18/10/2017 19:33

bibble you could try fartlek and hill reps too, but no shortcuts I'm afraid!
Regular parkruns are good too

Marvellousmarg · 18/10/2017 19:42

Oops! Sorry dont know what happened there!

emummy · 19/10/2017 08:26

Another wee holiday run, loops around the village this morning. Rain & thunderstorms overnight so a bit fresher today but I still got home looking like a tomato!

BorisTrumpsHair · 19/10/2017 10:46

my first "proper" school/work run this morning in over a week - feels fantastic. Thanks for mentioning interval training upthread - I incorporated a few short sprints into my run this morning.

cinnamongreyhound · 19/10/2017 12:46

I ran at 6.15am today emummy and it was 15C ShockShockShock

First proper run all week and it was lovely. I was sitting in bed before I went to sleep thinking, I don't want to go but so glad I did. Hoping to do parkrun and a longer run Sunday to make up for missing tues and weds this week! 269.5

Ah I should have posted here...
Wishingandwaiting

Outdoor runner here but I almost stopped last winter as really suffered with my freezing toes and fingers.

Any recommendations for really good thermal running gloves and socks please?

MyBlackCat · 20/10/2017 10:23

Trying to get back into it now - on holiday so went out as the sun rose before it got too hot, not the best place for running as we are in a small resort in a narrow valley, didn’t particularly enjoy it but will try again tomorrow.

emummy · 20/10/2017 13:35

So are we MyBlackCat, I did 2 laps of the village yesterday!
Sorry Wshing I just wear normal running gloves & socks in the winter. Do you have poor circulation? My boot camp trainer dresses like an Eskimo in winter but always has cold hands. I see a few pairs of winter gloves on sportsshoes.com, maybe you could have a look there?

NoCryingInEngineering · 20/10/2017 13:49

Finally made it back out there after life/family got in the way a few times. Not wonderful but it all counts

bibblebobblebubble · 20/10/2017 22:13

Wishing can't help with gloves but I completely love my Under Armour long sleeve running tops, actually looking forward to it being cold so I can wear them. Mine are last year's but similar to this
