The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

Hello, can I join? I did the Glasgow half last weekend (my third half) and I am thinking about a marathon next year. Probably Loch Ness in September. I am not confident I would get sufficient training in over the winter for a Spring marathon. I have a toddler who generously shares her bugs from nursery so winters often involve frequently feeling under the weather. Has anyone done Loch Ness? I hear there is a big hill at mile 18. I haven't signed up yet - I suspect I might need a few glasses of wine before I commit Wink

Nine miles today. First time I have run this week after last week's half but my legs felt tired from about mile seven. Last week must have taken quite a bit out of me. I managed a pb of 1 hr 52 despite needing to stop for a pee so that might be why I am still feeling it.

Well done on your PB blackcat hope your knee gets better soon.
Only 4 miles to add from two short runs this week. I had planned to take two weeks off after my marathon but I miss it too much.

Suffering with a stinking cold so rested this weekend. Annoying as it was gorgeous. Long autumn walk with kids today helped a bit v

jaggy I just ran the Loch Ness. It was awesome! Great time for your half in Glasgow! Do it!

Hi again. I rather lost sight of this thread over the summer, so have been having a read and a catch up.

I've signed up for a half marathon next year, so current goal is to be able to run for longer/further (not necessarily faster). Last week has been a 'long' week, intention for this week is to consolidate on the (gradually increasing) 'normal'

Well done sorelip! Avoiding stairs today?!

LovelyFriend · 09/10/2017 16:03

I drove to work this morning so I went for a run at lunch time - 4km.
Lovely run in park. Nice for a change.

I was given a fitbit for my birthday - yay! Still figuring out how to work it.

ClimbingPenguin · 10/10/2017 07:46

A 12 mile run with hill reps in the middle and a 5 mile interval session to add.

That was the second 12 mile where I felt my calf hurt so worried about this marathon that’s less than two weeks away.

emummy · 10/10/2017 08:26

Steady trot through the woods with dog, early today as dentist later, sigh.
Good luck with the Fitbit Lovely!
Hope the calf settles Climbing. Could you see a physio or get a massage?

NoCryingInEngineering · 10/10/2017 15:44

Good luck at the dentist.

Another slow beginner run for me this afternoon. Most of the first mile was on field paths & I was really feeling my (lack of) core muscles

ClimbingPenguin · 10/10/2017 18:14

A not as fast as I would have liked 5km.

Booked in to see physio on Thursday

Hi there. So I have read this thread a little can, we just add our runs and chat? Is that how it works? I ran yesterday and struggled with the first 1km and almost stopped but remembered I think someone here or on MN said they find the first km hard but after
that it's ok. So I kept going and remembered it gets much easier after that. Anyway I hope I can join. I can't add my miles as my phone died half way through the run but I measured on google it was probably about 5k or 2.5 miles approx. I had to guess.

emummy · 12/10/2017 08:04

That's exactly how it works Firefries, welcome! The numbers in bold are our cumulative total in miles so you just add yours on.
Hoping to get a run today, having to postpone my morning one to take ds to A&E with an injured ankle. Hope it's just a sprain, we go on holiday on Saturday!

emummy · 12/10/2017 12:42

Nice wee run in woods, plenty of mud! Ds has a sprain, phew!

179.7 including Firefries' miles

cinnamongreyhound · 12/10/2017 21:00

Dropped of tio, this week has been manic and exhausting! Dh has given me a talking to today that I am doing a lot of exercise now and I need to look after my hydration and nutrition. I feel terrible today! I don't know if I'm just that tired or I'm getting ill or what. I was so dizzy before I ran this morning and I've had really sore neck all afternoon!

Gutting MyBlackCat but an amazing time all the same!!! Well done! Hope you heal fast!

Welcome JaggyThistleLovesArchie! Brilliant hm time, I have entered two this week not sure why!

Well done sorelip!

Good luck with your calf ClimbingPenguin!

Hi firefries! That's exactly how it works, we mostly chat running and running gear but feel to chat anything else that takes your fancy.

11 miles to add from me, canicross run Monday, run with friend weds am and my Thursday group this morning 190.7

3 miles this evening with some hill sprints near the end (ugh). New running shoes today so it was a more bouncy 3 miles than recent runs!

Glad your ds just has a sprain emummy. Taking a stookie on holiday would not be fun.

ClimbingPenguin · 12/10/2017 21:43

Hello firefries

No mileage as was still a sore all the squats at circuits. Physio thinks it’s a slight calf sprain and that I should be ok but be prepared to walk parts of it. Have some special tape to use on the day.

NoCryingInEngineering · 13/10/2017 18:17

A pyramid run for me today, still taking things nice and steady but feeling better each run

Firefries · 13/10/2017 18:19

HI all! Thanks emummy, cinnamon, climbing and jaggy! Sorry my phone is playing up and I can't seem to use bold :(.
My last two days of running then, I've done a small run (and walking trying to sort out my dog en route) and a bigger more hillier run to make up for it. I'm now trying out some hills and so far they're not too bad.
So I can add 6.44 miles (that's a shock for me actually) even more in kms ;) haha so I'm adding my miles to the total and here it is :

200.14 (sorry I can't do it in bold today)

Firefries · 13/10/2017 18:21

Oops I didn't see no crying, I'll try again ::

Total is now 202.64 (ignore my one above) thx

emummy · 14/10/2017 08:39

Last run before holidays! Up hill & through woods with dog, tried a new path which turned into a stream! Very wet feet, very happy dog. Not far but good climb - 220m in 1st mile! Now for some sun...

206.64

cinnamongreyhound · 14/10/2017 14:24

Best parkrun at home in a while, newest dog still needs work on leaving things alone while running though Grin 209.74

Hi all! Just wanted to join the chat.

Parkrun today. Bit frustrated that I am so slow (35 min) - even when I was running more and weighed a bit less I never got below 32 min. Do I just need to accept I am not a natural runner or does anyone have tips? (Apart from losing the half stone I have spare... am 5'6" and 10 stone 7)

212.84

ClimbingPenguin · 14/10/2017 20:07

3 odd miles doing intervals. Couldn’t work out how to use both the timer and tracking function on my Fitbit. I’ll just make the total a nice round number 😄
