The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

Argh another post lost! I was saying I agree with emummy MyBlackCat, you're super speedy and all that buggy running will stand you in good stead!

Definitely helps lots of things BorisTrumpsHair!

Thanks you

Almost tempo run today. Just 3 miles at my 10km pace. Not sure I could have maintained the pace for longer. Beautiful light out today.

Can I join you or should I find a c25k thread first? DD is 6.5weeks old so I'm just feeling my way back into running.

emummy · 04/10/2017 21:40

You can certainly join in NoCrying! Congratulations on your baby. Good luck with your running

NoCryingInEngineering · 05/10/2017 14:13

Thanks! Just back from a very slow 2.3 miles after 1.9 on Tuesday. Both were run/walk, does that still count to the thread total?

My first target is to get back to parkrun, and my first chance to do that is on the 21st.

MyBlackCat · 05/10/2017 19:34

Everything counts nocrying my LO is almost 11 months now, you are doing so well to be back out running Smile

Managed to run buggy free today, short 35 mins - just parkrun tailwalking before race day.

Unfortunately I've got sniffles again.... Sad

No crying - I've added your 4.2 along with my miles

Thanks BlackCat

Gorgeous morning for jog along the river to work. I had a goal of being able to jog 5km before my 50th birthday which is today. Job done. I feel better than ever. The gift of running really is the best present I could ever give myself. It's official - I'm hooked. Grin

Happy birthday Boris! Congratulations on your running success, hope it continues Togo well.
Beautiful sunny morning here too. Cross country run with school running club then muddy hilly forest run with dh & dog. Time for a lie down!

Tailwalking at parkrun - race day tomorrow, despite a light week the legs feel a bit dead? I'm over thinking it I think 😂

Good luck tomorrow MyBlackCat, I have total faith in you! Hope the weather is kind and you enjoy yourself.
Hope you get your Sunday morning run Boris!

LittleWitch · 07/10/2017 20:35

Can I join in please? I don’t know any of the jargon I’m afraid! I’ve started running again after doing other things for a couple of years (OA in the knees is a problem). I’m doing a 10km trail run next month, which I’m not ready for but will give me a benchmark for where I am.

I’m running tomorrow morning 5km part off road, part fields of which the first 2km ascend 103m. This is the third one of those (once a week) and was sub-30 mins last week. Then on Monday evenings I run 5km on road (done that twice) and was 27:40 last Monday for that (I’m 54 btw which explains the lack of speed!).

I’m a bit worried about getting from 5km to 10km off road in only a month and looking for tips please.

cinnamongreyhound · 07/10/2017 23:40

We know you can do it MyBlackCat!!!

No jargon here LittleWitch! Welcome along. We add our mileage to the running total for the group each month and wrote it in bold at the bottom of each post but otherwise we're mostly chatting running or trainers or leggings Smile

parkrun with my friend today, 5 mins slower than last week but lovely to just have a chat! 61.2

Thank you cinnamon. By jargon I meant “taper” and “tempo” - I don’t understand those terms. I don’t do much mileage so I suppose so far this month I’ve done 6 miles and am about to go out and do 3more. On that basis I’ll put

9 Wink

emummy · 08/10/2017 09:13

Welcome LittleWitch, good running!
Steep hill run this morning with dog. Got some lovely views. Felt like it took 1 hour to run up & 5 minutes to run down! 1100ft of climb so I have forgiven myself for being slow. Dog loved it of course!

emummy · 08/10/2017 09:30

Sorry, total includes my miles & Littlewitch's

LittleWitch · 08/10/2017 10:20

Pleased with my run - 28:42 over my uphill, partly off-road 5km trail. Took 1min 12 secs out of last week’s time for the same route - very muddy today and almost lost a shoe! Can’t run again this week because of work Hmm so I’m going to add an extra 1km next Sunday as I try to build towards 10km.

Enjoy your runs today team!

MyBlackCat · 08/10/2017 18:16

Today's half marathon almost went very well - almost! On schedule for sub 1:50 until 11.5 miles when my knee locked up and collapsed beneath me Sad two kind men helped me get to my feet and I hobbled to the finish in 1:52:41

It's still a PB by nearly 5 mins just not the one I was chasing. My legs feel very broken right now and I feel gutted.

emummy · 08/10/2017 18:57

Well done on your on MyBlackCat! Sorry things didn't go to plan. I hope your knee recovers quickly
