The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

Hey all, hope everyone is having a great weekend. I said ages ago I'd start posting properly, but then dropped off again. I've had a really nasty chest infection and otherwise just haven't been in the game. I'm about to go out for my first gentle run for weeks, and will report when I get back how it went. Is anyone doing the Race for Life marathon on 8th October?

MyBlackCat · 10/09/2017 18:29

Well done emummy great run.

Long slow run for me today, I'm doing Nottingham half as a training run in a couple of weeks then Peterborough half on October 8th then I'm having a rest Smile

I managed 5k and enjoyed it, though it felt slow and I felt heavy.

Well done emummy!

Not heard of a race for life marathon sorelip, I'm never running a marathon so no Wink

Fritton lake parkrun was lovely but tough without a canine buddy! The swim in the lake was fab except that I got the route wrong so they sent a boat out to me as they thought I was in trouble Blush 155.3

my first difficult run today - legs were heavy and slow. The headwind and backpack with heavy shoes and work clothes in it didn't help. Still I did it even if I was a bit slow.

I got new trainers in the weekend - from a proper running shop. I'm unsure about them. They seem to tilt my feet inwards a bit which is weird. I miss my old trainers (broken :()

2.7 miles this morning so 158

emummy · 12/09/2017 10:53

Nice muddy forest run in the sunshine with dog. First of my winter of trail running - I have no races planned, thought I might just do lots of relaxed off road and hill runs, no goals about pace, just all for pleasure. That's the plan anyway, we'll see how it goes! Will stick to fairly low mileage too I think.
Boris sorry your run was a bit yuck, but as you said, at least you did it. Everyone has days like that, it builds mental toughness I think! With the shoes, I think comfort is always number 1; if you find them uncomfortable after a few more runs they may not be right for you.

Great run down Thames tow path - not my usual route and change was great.

Used graduation Nhs podcast for first time - they run at much faster pace so I really pushed myself. Fantastic. Still not sure about shoes.

Well done on getting out sorelip, hopefully you are getting back to normal. Good luck with the marathon, it should be a good day

Marvellousmarg · 12/09/2017 14:16

Well done emummy and thanks for the reassurance. I am exhausted!
Tablet, what a genius idea!
I'm stocking up in Inverness!

2.2 to add from this mornings easy run which was anything but. My legs feel like heavy weights right now.

I've booked sports massage for tomorrow evening. Fully expecting it to be agony!

Good luck in the Nottingham half Blackcat.

very slow run into strong head wind this morning - the temp is much cooler than 2 weeks ago - the seasonal "change" is certainly upon us.

Yesterdays hard fast run = heavy legs today :)

Unfortunately cinnamon the only way I can get out in the week is with the buggy - easy 40 mins today but it felt anything but easy, think I've done a bit too much recently Sad

Adding 2 runs, 5km today was 9 mins faster than my first 5km 13 weeks ago after I dusted off my shoes and decided to get my shit together ! Grin

Lovely run to work this morning after rest day yesterday.

I was feeling great, jogging along, and then a 60ish year old man walked by me in a relaxed manner and sped off ahead with effortless ease. Grin To be fair he was the most amazingly fast and relaxed walker I've ever seen and he had incredibly muscly though slender legs. For a moment I felt like I was jogging backwards.

Steady run through town this morning; had a bit of a tummy bug yesterday so took it easy. Nice cool morning

A 5k yesterday and another today in the local park. It felt difficult at times, but I felt great at the end of both runs.

4.02 interval run on Saturday (postponed from Friday as I was working and when early alarm went if I couldn't move). The run felt great after a good rest.

This morning I did a 8.10 long run which was hard and horrible. My legs were like heavy weights.

Think I need to rest up now.

6 days til the marathon. Eeeeek!
