The newsest thread for all runners to chat and keep track of their miles. Everyone welcome for support, guidance and general running talk including very important kit choices Wink

Hot sweaty run this morning! As soon as I stopped I got really lightheaded and felt awful. Much better after inhaling 500ml of Lucozade sport! And I even took an electrolyte drink with me. Will take more next time. Off for a refreshing shower.

Yesterday's parkrun (although not sure it counts as I was the tail runner and walked it) and a 10k race today. Took 2 and a half minutes off my PB - got the pace a bit wrong, it was feeling so easy then we turned and hit the wind, last two miles were tough but very pleased with my time Smile

blackcat 2.5 minutes off?! You're really flying. Well done.

I ran up ivinghoe beacon yesterday first thing. Didn't really intend on running up but before I knew it I was on the top! So although it was only 3 miles and pretty slow , I was thrilled. 376.2

And here's my view and my breakfast spot

Up the ridgeway today. Just felt hard all the way, but it was the same for my running partner too. 16.25 in total

392.35

(Someone might need to check the maths 😂)

emummy · 30/05/2017 11:52

Pyramid track session, a bit cooler today but warm enough! Happy with pace

Recovery buggy run this morning,

still I've not really run many 10k's, think it's just three, hence some big improvements Smile

Brilliant MyBlackCat!

Great achievement stilllearnin!

Just short of 5 miles to add. Mixed intervals tonight, painful and amazing in equal measure. Never done an interval longer than a minute before (and I shouldn't have had chips beforehand)

I shall be resting tomorrow

penguin Grin

3.5 miles yesterday to meet ds in the park. My focus at the moment is on getting out regularly- it seems to be working.

Usual Thursday morning run, 7 humans, 5 dogs and a bike this morning!! One lady walking her dog wasn't too happy, she said 'you're everywhere! I never usually see anyone!' 4

Sounds like fun cinnamon! Poor lady, sounds like she expects to have the paths all to herself!
Mixed pace run for me, only 16 degrees and it's grey and breezy but I am still roasting! Is it my age?! Anyway still managed good pace but had to stop for drinks.

Hot and sweaty afternoon run - why did I go out at the hottest part of the day 🤔

ClimbingPenguin · 01/06/2017 22:37

Social run at club tonight so I ran there and back too. Coach is big into slow runs

stilllearnin · 02/06/2017 08:56

Morning I am loving the light mornings. I am sticking to a plan for my next HM. So just 2.5 this morning - actually felt quite hard Smile

Penguin do you know about the whole slow run thing - although my understanding is that you do that on longer runs? I have a good online article if you are interested. Or maybe the coach was just adapting to the weather to take care of everyone?

I read a bit about slow runs and I certainly wasn't complaining after the two previous runs this week.

Did a 2 km with DD(7) today, it was her first proper one

Hi all - can I join in? I think i was posting on here a couple of years ago or so, and then sort of slipped off. But I need inspiration to jeep me going - training for a marathon in November, and have a half in 2 weeks . . .

I'm in New Zealand so just coming into the cold dark runs :(

Assuming I can backdate to the beginning of June I have a 7 km to add from yesterday and a 3 km from today (so 6.21 miles).

36.46

emummy · 03/06/2017 11:36

Welcome Whowould! Winter running is lovely isn't it! Having done my first marathon in spring this year I am thinking of an Autumn marathon next year so no early morning runs in the dark! Good luck with your training and the upcoming half.

IsThatYouPaul · 03/06/2017 11:56

Just jumping in here with my comfy new trainers.

Started running again in April, first aim was to do 5k without stopping - got there eventually. Slowly, but it counts. Now trying to hurry the jeff up a bit.

I'll count miles from June, so that's just today's parkrun. And I'm rounding up a bit as I start at the back and I want those extra 100 metres, godammit.

3.2

emummy · 03/06/2017 13:53

Quite right IsThatYouPaul! That 100m counts! Enjoy the comfy new trainers. Will add your miles to the cumulative total, so that's 39.66

Am supposed to be studying, hence frequent checking of mumsnet!

ClimbingPenguin · 03/06/2017 21:11

Hello whowould
I'm doing (hopefully) my first marathon this October. I joined this group as I typically stop running in the summer. The plan is that you lot can kick me into action.

I officially start my training schedule this week (starting tomorrow)

I agree IsThatYouPaul! every metre counts in my books too.

cinnamongreyhound · 03/06/2017 22:35

Welcome whowouldfardelsbear and IsThatYouPaul!

parkrun for me today with a reluctant dog unless we were overtaken by another dog. Ds's were sleeping over at my mums so took some motivation to get up and dh joined us for breakfast at the cafe which was lovely. Ran there but got a lift home with dh 43.16

What training plan are you using penguin?

vvviola · 04/06/2017 09:15

I'm not sure what the numbers mean under the posts, but can I join in anyway?

I've been running since January, and was doing 3 5km runs a week. Then it all went to pot, for a month or so because of a bereavement and work stuff. So now I'm back trying to work back up to what I was doing.

Went out this morning aiming to do 5k. Managed 3 - but only because I went into a park after 1k and did very wimpy intervals instead and my phone tracked the distance on those. It just wasn't happening for me today.

What do people do when a run just isn't working (I was too hot, my legs were like concrete and I just couldn't run through it).
