I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

Thero if you just put in your email they send a link so you can work out a basic form of the plan yourself. You only have to give your measurements if you pay for the whole plan (that's the one I'm doing).
They do keep on emailing trying to persuade you to sign up though - you can unsubscribe from these!

As for heavy vs light weights, I've heard you can get the same effects with both, but you have to do more reps with the lighter weights - if it's the same amount then the light ones seem a bit pointless! I've not done Fix Extreme though so not sure how it works!

Roastie I also have a rubbish core, and today's workout involves leg raises Sad - that's why I' procrastinating on here!

Purpleraindeer · 18/10/2016 21:49

I've got no idea re that heavy then light weights thing. I just used my super heavy 8kg ones until I couldn't do any more (never lasted the full 30secs) and then moved to the light ones.

Rest day yesterday which I needed! Felt weird tho - wasn't sure what to do with my evening and then wasn't my normal totally exhausted by bedtime. Back on it tonight tho with 21dfx plyo fix. Weirdly I'm stronger and have better balance on my left leg when I'm right handed. That seems strange to me

Sorry to hear about your diet woes roastie. IBS sounds horrible. Could you cut your cals more slowly so you don't get that empty feeling?

Theromanempire · 19/10/2016 07:05

Just done pilates fix extreme - was disappointed Sad I actually thought it was easier than the basic pilates fix (which is an excellent core workout if anyone wants one Grin). Unless I wake up tomorrow with serious ab muscle pains, I don't think I will be doing it again. Feels like a waste of a workout Sad

Anyway, hope you all have a good workout today Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 19/10/2016 09:12

Theroman that makes me want to try pilates extreme ...what does that say about me!

Chalean has a cardio workout with light weights, she says it is for endurance, but agree 30 seconds heavy then light is a bit strange.

Interesting about davina abs Roastie - my core is rubbish too so need something more basic and have some davinas.

Echo what purple says also about small changes and possibly you could keep breakfast and lunch the same but cut back in the evening. I found occasionally a few years ago when I did 5:2 500 cal days, skipping breakfast etc I got indigestion, very weird but think its to to with stomach acid, I dont get it with my 800 - 1000 cal fast days I have now and one of the main differences is that I have my calories earlier in the day (breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince, breakfast like a pauper thing).

Theromanempire · 19/10/2016 12:57

Yum give it a go and see what you think! It does require a band which I thought would make it much harder but it actually didn't Hmm Try the normal pilates fix aswell and see which one you think is harder Wink

Autumn does refer to the weights thing as a 'drop set' which according to Wikipedia is "In bodybuilding and weight training, using drop sets is a technique for continuing an exercise with a lower weight once muscle failure has been achieved at a higher weight". She doesn't explain this at all though. I suspect my weights aren't heavy enough as most of the exercises in the workout, I don't reach muscle failure in the 30 seconds that you use the heavy ones for. Maybe I should continue for longer than the 30 seconds and just keep going until I reach failure and then switch to the lighter weights?

Anyway, off to Sainsburys now thanks to roasties Christmas thread - see what bargains I can pick up Smile

Purpleraindeer · 19/10/2016 21:28

Wasn't going to do Pilates extreme but def won't now Roman. I think it's v hard to do Pilates right from a DVD anyway.
Did 21dfx power and strength. Was quite an odd workout - no weights lots of strength moves - gorilla walk, bear crawl, v ups etc. Am sure it did me a bit of good and some moves were v hard but was strangely unsatisfying. I felt like you roastie - I didn't sweat nearly enough

Purpleraindeer · 21/10/2016 11:14

Just did 21dfx abc. No idea what that stands for but was a rather evil combo of abs and legs. My left bum cheek is really tired now. Can't quite work out why my right one is not in the same state! I'll be lop sided tomorrow Smile

Last day of 21dfx tomorrow - it's 'the challenge'. Wonder what that is?

Theromanempire · 21/10/2016 14:53

I have done ABC twice now and love it - one of my faves. Think the 60 second squat hold immediately followed by 60 secs of squat jumps is just out and out torture Confused

No idea what the challenge is - didn't even know there was one Grin whatever it is, I would fail!

RoastieToastieReastie · 21/10/2016 15:20

Hello,

Under the weather on Wednesday so no workout then took dd to a theme park yesterday (although did involve lots of walking) so not doing too well this week. In a rush this morning with dd home for half term so did twenty two minute hard core which did the trick although I wish I had had time for longer.

Agree with the gradual change advic for me, I'm doing that and hoping I can gradually work things out.

Went swim suit shopping today at speedo but all the size 12s were really really tight. I was so depressed about this that I refused to go in a size 14 so came away empty handed. Someone please tell me they are very small sizing!

Purple I hope you don't want around in circles tomorrow with one hurry bumcheek!

Thermo drop sets sound interesting and that does make sense.

Did cardio fix extreme last night - had to modify 2 exercises but managed everything else although it is HARD Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 22/10/2016 10:35

Roastie speedo is quite sporty so I bet they come up small for sure.

Theroman fantastic on only modifiying 2 exercises in your workout.

I havent done any homeworkouts this week. I have done pilates, bodypump, which I quite liked but my thighs were KILLING me the next 2 days, and I did insanity which I didn't love tbh, not sure I why think maybe the music wasnt quite right plus the instructor kept telling us to hifive one different person which nobody seemed to want to do.

Have cancelled this mornings class as totm started last night (plus I slept in!)

Hope you have evened out Purple -maybe you accidentally doubled up an exercise on one side - pretty sure I do that on a regular basis as get confused which side I have done!

Have a good weekend all

Purpleraindeer · 24/10/2016 08:09

Well done on cardio fix roman. That is a hard one.
Did you find a swimsuit roastie? I hear you on swimsuit trouble. I took the kids swimming on Friday. Caught sight of myself in the mirror and wasn't too happy. I think Swimming costumes really bring out our inner critic and we need to stop listening to it!

Not a good workout weekend. Saw friends on sat and concentrated on eating and drinking Grin. Did 21dfx challenge yesterday. Was a repetitive one - so builds up to do 13 exercises but on first set you do 1, then next set 2, then 3 etc. So means you just feel like you're in endless Groundhog Day Sad. It did really work my shoulders tho. Now done my 21dfx challenge so have tried all of them except Pilates and yoga. Some I loved some not so much.... back to max30 tonight as am missing the cardio!

Theromanempire · 24/10/2016 16:25

This just about sums up how I feel constantly throughout 21df/21dfx workouts Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 24/10/2016 18:55

Once I have my arm/shoulder fixed I am going to try 21 day fix, I can't wait! You all talk about it so much that I have to try it!

Thank you for telling me speedo probably come up small. I'm still stuck without a decent costume that isn't indecent after refusing to size up though. I need a costume preferably with built in boob support (or something to keep them in place, most of the speedo ones had nothing which is no good for me) and not very high legged cut but suitable for not gaping open at the front like my current one does. It's completely the wrong time of year and I'm not sure where to go now for it.

Did a pb on a run at the week end (still not fast by most standards but for once I didn't get stitch, please let it continue. I did feel a bit sick from trying to go fast though) and also did insanity core cardio and balance. Today I did speed 3 t25 and just trying to work out now what to do tomorrow as have quite a bit of other stuff to do. I wonder if p90x3 lower would be a decent workout without any weights as I feel like I'm all very cardio heavy ATM. I might do that and just go really deep.

Forgot the most exiting news, went shopping for running gear today (only have 3/4 length leggings and short sleeved tops and need long sleeved and full length trousers for running in winter) and got a fab pair of leggings, two long sleeved tops, and a cool sort of circular piece of fabric that you can do a million and one thins with like covering neck/hair etc for when it gets windy or whatever. I'm explaining that really badly aren't I. I can't wait to go running in my new gear!

Theromanempire · 24/10/2016 22:00

roastie well done on the PB Smile have you looked into a local park run? They are organised non-competitive 5k runs on a Saturday morning - they have a really good atmosphere and loads of support along the route. Might just spur you on to even faster times Smile

I am a total 21df convert now (as is DP) - Shaun T is a distant memory Grin am sure I will go back to T25 at some point but love 21df/21dfx.

RoastieToastieReastie · 25/10/2016 08:19

Thermo I've been put off park run by stories from friends (at different park runs) of people pushing themselves so hard they vomit at the finish line (I have Emetophobia). However I have Runkeeper as does my sister so I'm competing against beating her times (she's ten years younger than me and been running regularly for over a year but I'm getting closer already to her speed) so I have a competitive edge to them which I enjoy.

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 25/10/2016 09:15

That is one reason to avoid park runs Grin I never saw anyone vomiting but, to be fair, I was always so far the back that it was unlikely that anyone was pushing themselves that hard running at my pace Grin unless I was being lapped Blush

Got the DC at home today but need to fit in a workout this morning due to other commitments later on today - they are currently watching Big Hero 6 though Confused

Purpleraindeer · 25/10/2016 09:57

I'd have thought vomiting would only be a risk if you were aiming for an 18min 5k? Not an issue for me. And in general all races are really friendly affairs - def give it a go. Although I did nearly vomit getting my 10k pb. Grin

I have a cold and feel very sad and miserable. Can't even do a work out Sad.

RoastieToastieReastie · 25/10/2016 18:57

I'm not so much concerned that I will vomit so much as not wanting to see others or the actual vomit. I think I'll need to build courage for it (plus the fact my local park run is over some very hilly areas).

Purple hope you feel better soon. It's really miserable when you're too ill to workout.

Thermo did you fit in a workout? It gets harder in holidays doesn't it.

Did ultimate fighter combat workout today and loved it. Combat I find very doable to the point I'm making a fair amount of the tracks harder which makes me feel like I'm doing well whereas with Shaun t I'm the opposite (modifying to make them easier and feeling like I've failed).

yumyumpoppycat · 27/10/2016 13:34

Hi all!

Hope you are feeling better Purple Flowers

Hope you are getting some half term workouts in theroman I havent done enough tbh, the day just becomes more complicated with more people to factor in!

Good work on runs and combat Roastie, I did spinning a class this week and was totally rubbish and only person who seemed to modify so although I sweated loads I felt like its not a good class for me, feels so much more satsifiying in the classes where I dont need to modify. I had back ache afterwards so think I was doing something wrong. I do want to be able to do it though so going to keep my eyes open for a begginers class. All these hard core gym classes are making me think I am not working hard enough at home Blush

Purpleraindeer · 29/10/2016 19:23

Hello all
It's been quiet on here. I just broke my 5 day streak of no exercise. My cold just wiped me out. Did a 21dfx tonight. Felt a lot harder than it did when I did it a week ago - am hoping that's still my cold rather than having lost strength and fitness after 5 days Shock

Spin classes are notoriously horrific poppy - anyway how do you know how hard anyone else is working - I bet they all had their bikes turned to the easiest level of resistance.

Hope everyone else is well. Should be back on the exercise tomorrow. I need it. The training regime came through for my mountain race. Let's just say it looks a bit harder core than I was expecting.....

yumyumpoppycat · 29/10/2016 23:32

Well done on getting back on it Purple, these things defo take it out of us. I have caught dh's bug seems to be a slight cold but with tiredness, thumping head and back ache. Also had youngest dds birthday party so have had a bit of a no exercise streak too.

Good point about reistance, part of the problem was I wasnt sure what flat should feel like as never cycle! I prob will try something similar again though.

Hope everyone is having a good weekend Wine or [lemsip] as appropriate Smile

RoastieToastieReastie · 30/10/2016 08:24

Yumy I've never even attempted a spinning class as I fear they are too hard for me plus I get bottom ache on bike seats really quickly

Purple well done on getting back into it. I think illness takes it it or you and give it a week or two and you'll be back to normal with workouts.

Things here plodding along. I still really need to find a swimming costume but haven't got around to it yet. Done a couple of 5k runs followed by ten mins of abs this week plus DVDs on other days with one rest day. Jus about to do another workout DVD in a min but haven't decided yet what to go for. I may go for turobfire for a change.

Hey, no exercise here for a few days either Blush kids around, general laziness, other stuff to do etc!

Need to get a grip tomorrow (hungover today Grin) and focus on shifting some weight before Christmas.

I actually enjoy spinning classes but it really is up to you how hard you work- I may have been known to pretend to turn the knob at times (or only turn it a quarter when the instructor said half a turn Grin). Anyway, noticed my gym is now doing p90x classes...what do you think they would involve then?
