I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

You must be amazons best customer poppy! I know there is no way I'd use one of those. I got a turbo trainer for my bike (one of those things that makes it into a stationary bike) when I was pregnant with dd. This summer I took the bike off it without having used it once. Dd was 3!

Game day had a mixture of totally fine bits and really hard ones (plyo press ups, rock climber hold on chin up bar, one legged lat push ups). The main problem is that it's just very long. You'd be fine to give it a go.

I like isometrix reastie. Presume you've done the p90x3 yoga and Pilates too? As they're short they're quite intense I recall. unfortunately swimming is probably your best bet but it's hard to motivate yourself to do it given how cold it is.

Purple I've done p90x3 yoga a lot but I'm not actually sure if I've done the Pilates workout. Ah yes, hang on, is that the one where you breathe out with a funny noise? If so, I tried it and felt like I wasn't doing it properly and couldn't get a hang on it so didn't do it again as didn't want to cause injury from doing it wrong.

Yumy I wondered about tai chi type stuff. I used to do a tai chi class years ago and it's a lot harder than it looks, but not exactly hard core workout.

Well, I had the injection. Fwiw if any of you end out having one the pain isn't nearly as bad as I thought it could be. It's a bit worse than a normal injection pain but it lasts for a minute or so whilst they position it in the right place. It's also a lot deeper as it went right inside my shoulder. It seems to have got the right place and I haven't had a terrible flair up which apparently can happen and men's it doesn't work so I'm crossing everything.

Did 30 day fix core on Monday before having it done as a last cheeky workout as I'm not sure when I can next exercise. It's amazing how much extra time in my day I have without workouting and then showering though, I got a lot achieved this morning with dd when usually half the morning would be me exercising then showering.

In weird news, it's been several days since I've done a proper proper cardio workout and I've become constipated yet nothing other an workout has changed. I wonder if exercising helps you to be regular?

Glad the injection was ok reastie. I think I might have freaked out when it went so deep in. I could imagine not exercising might have an effect on digestion. I hope you can find a nice way to fill the free time - could be the opportunity to do something different?

Did strength today. Am really starting to enjoy asylum. I find that's always the case after a few weeks where you get used to the workouts and realise you're not actually going to die, it just feels that way! Decided to use the pull up bar today and it fell off the wall whilst I was using it Shock. I was lucky as I landed on my feet but it freaked me out. Disappointed - do you recall what weight you used for strength. I have a feeling I'm using much smaller ones than the cast. I'm using 4kg when you need 2 dumbbells and 8kg when you need 1.

Reastie I definitely think exercise helps you stay regular. I sometimes have to go mid workout sorry tmi.
Purple omg about the pull up bar! I just bought a pull up bar and pull up assist from the beachbody shop. Does it wreck your door? Dh is worried about that. I use 5kg for strength for all of it. Any heavier and I seem to fatigue early doing push ups. By keeping it that weight, I can blast out most of it on my toes. I doubt the cast are using super heavy weights, it would compromise speed and form.
After realising how much cals were in my naan bread yesterday, I decided to do some extra workouts. I did wild horse from country heat as well as MMA mash up from core de force. That was on top of plyocide. About 800 cals burned from those. I will take that.

Purpleraindeer · 15/02/2017 13:50

800cals?! That's a lot of workout
Did you mean 2x 5kg dumbbells?
My pull up bar has messed up the paint on the wall by the door but I think that's because the foam protective stuff has come off so it's literally just a steel bar. DH hasn't spotted the mess yet tho.

disappointed101 · 15/02/2017 14:07

Yeah I think I overdid the workouts. I don't burn much usually but it all added up. Yeah 2x5kg

Hi everyone,

Dissapointed if you're careful it shouldn't screw up the paintwork, mine slipped off the grippy things when I was doing a move that it wasn't designed for, but it is really easy to fix paintwork if you buy a tub of the mousey filler, it is lovely like cupcake frosting Grin slap some on smooth it off with a wet finger, repeat if necessary, sand lightly, paint. Not that I have fixed mine yet but still ;)

Purple well done on asylum, the challenge week we did has given me the shaun t bug and I did speed 2.0 this week. Also did a couple of hammer and chisels including power hammer today, I used 2.5, 4 and 5.5kg today so I am seriously impressed with the weights you and disappointed were using for asylum strength 5.5kg was really tricky for the most complicated lift.

Reastie v good point about freeing up time, maybe if you do a completely different project you might feel like you are accomplishing something, rather than doing light exercise and feeling frustrated?

Hope you are both doing well tsoto and roman

Exercise and diy tips on here? Excellent!

have noticed a bad correlation between nights when I don't do a work out and nights when I'm massively grumpy and me and DH bicker at each other. I guess that is even more incentive to make sure I keep up the exercise! In that spirit I did speed and agility tonight. DH was relieved Smile. I'm pretty good at skipping now too!

Just wanted to check in and say hi, hope everyone's OK. Well done on all the workouts. Between work and hurting my knee running I've decided to take the week off from exercise apart from dog walks. Hopefully when dcs are back at school and I'm more use to my new routine of fitting everything in between work hours I'll be able to get back to it

Tsoto youbgave my sympathy with e running induced knee injury as that's what I did. Hope it mends itself soon and I'm sure the rest will help it.

Purple I find exercise an excellent mood enhancer. Speed and agility is my favourite asylum workout.

I'm as impressed as yumy with weights. When I was doing weights I'd got up to predominantly 4-5kg after months of improvement for p90x and at my best on pump I lifted about 10kg on each side for the heavy tracks but 5kg is a heavy lift.

Good advice for achieving something. I think the time may well be taken up working (I'm a teacher so my work is never done) and I may try and read more. Not exactly a project but I'm going to try to do more mindful meditations in the hope it helps stress relief where exercise did. I've got under a week until I see the physio so I'm hoping once I see her she will say I can at least static cycle or swim with a float in my arm or something.

The weird thing is (I'm really really not complaining) so far I seem to be losing weight despite no exercise. It's the opposite I have been expecting. I'm eating exactly the same as I did when I burned over 2000 calories working out a week. I was expecting to put on a few pounds. This is obviously a great thing as I'm really worried about putting on weight and how hard I find it to lose it but I don't understand why. Do you think it's my muscle going back to fat? It's been weeks that I've been decreasing exercise so I haven't done proper exercise for probably a month so that's time for the muscle to waste away...

Purple Star good work on skipping a lot of it looks so complicated and the cast are struggling in places. I am now having a vision of someone on a pullup assist fixing the scuff marks as they go. I love filling I have discovered Blush as it is so easy and makes a big difference, painting large walls though - not my favourite. wonder if that reflects on my preference for short workouts? Who knew diy and exercise were so closely linked.

Tsoto I hope your knee gets better soon, makes sense to start properly when you feel ready.

I am planning on having a rest day for my knee, I did core cardio yesterday which actually is quite twisty, and think that with heavier weights the day before has made them a bit sore.

Reastie - exercise can cause water retention for various reasons I cant remember properly so I guess resting can have the reverse effect? Perhaps this was even more the case for you down to your injuries? I love reading too and feel like its been a long time since I read a novel, I downloaded Miracle Mornings for 99p earlier this year and that recommends daily reading, meditation etc. Stress has been in the news a bit recently as a health factor alongside diet and exercise.

Just checking in quickly - will catch up properly this weekend hopefully.

Still struggling to control my eating Hmm exercise is going well - plodding on doing my hybrid schedule - but I just seem to want to eat everything in sight (particularly sweets and chocolate) and my willpower is at zero. My clothes are starting to feel a bit tight now so I know I need to do something but am at a loss Sad

Theroman Flowers whole diet thing is a bit shit. why is it so hard!! I am struggling at mo a bit, I know what to do in my head but I think my body wants me to just eat all the chocolate. I was watching a program about super slimmers on channel 4 this week which seemed to suggest its not worth losing huge amounts of body fat as 90% of people will regain...it is worth exercising though and it is worth eating healthily. The 10% who keep the weight off typically exercise for an hour a day every day (think this is a smidge beyond what I am willing to do)

There was also a man on that show who lost fat and about 8 stone by doing weights, fasting, lots of diets etc - he kept the weight off but quit his job and became a PT to make this possible. He thinks hormones leptin and ghrelin have a lot to do with it so I am going to try and find out more about that. Also a previous Biggest Loser was on and he has managed to raise his now dieting damaged metabolism by following some hormone, Gut friendly protocol but the scientist they had on said we cant take too much from what works for one person.

Off with the kids....supposed to be sorting dds bedroom with them instead of working out.

Yumy that programme sounds really interesting. I'm in constant fear of regaining weight as I feel like I'm below what my natural weight seems to fall at (which is a size 16. Im size 12). I have lost and gained weight in the past but so far have managed to lose weight and maintain weight loss for 5 years but every day is a battle.

If you're looking for sugar chocolate craving hit I used to have a dark chocolate covered rice cake or an apro soya chocolate dessert. I also used to have low calorie how choc (although now not sure how recommendable that is as it has sweetener and there's lots of questions over that) or a block of really really dark chocolate which is so strong you can't eat too much. The alpro desserts I often used to freeze as it took me longer to eat them that way so felt like I was eating more. Also there are nakd coco nut and fruit snack bars which might give the chocolate fix or the deliciously Ella cookbook has a nice energy bar recipe with cocoa in it which is really nice (think they are called chia energy bites or something like that. I can take a photo of the recipe and upload if you like?)

I think there may be a lot in the gut bacteria that can help with weight loss and gain that we don't know about yet. There's a lot of research going on and it's an interesting area. I think those gut bacteria could potentially be the new antibiotics in terms to usefulness once we find out more about them.

I will try some of those recipes Reastie. It was interesting but a bit long. Actually as you are past the 4 years regain period they discussed that must really make you a firm member of the 10% club.

Hello all
I watched that programme poppy. It was a bit depressing wasn't it? It gave so little in the way of positive messages re sustainable weight loss. It gave me the fear that I'd gain a lot of weight back too and I've never worried about that before.

Am super fed up. Felt awful most of last week as had a migraine and dc were poorly so was up in the night a lot with them. Now they've given me their disease. Sad I've not worked out since Thursday and really can't face it. Am irrationally annoyed as wanted to finsih asylum before we go on hols next weekend, but won't be able to now. Somehow feels like 'cheating' if I don't do it all in one go. Yes - that's mental I know.

Purple that's rubbish feeling ill. Dad was ill recently and dh and I both have a mild version of it which isn't proper poorly but is enough to feel constantly under the weather for well over a week now. We were shopping yesterday and I felt out of breath going up the stairs and said to dh I have lost my fitness really quickly and he reminded me it's probably just being a bit ill. Hopefully some rest and you'll be better quicker.

This weight loss programme, what channel was it on? I might try and watch it on catch up if I can.

I think it was channel 4 last Tuesday Reastie. Those low level things that drag on are really a pain as you cant just retire to bed.

Hope everyone is feeling better soon.

Flowers Reastie and Purple. Yes the program was a bit demoralising even though I think they tried to avoid this by emphasising that we should all just stop feeling guilty about 'falling off the wagon' but actually I also think the hope element is in working out how to raise peoples metabolisms or repair their guts or whatever to improve the situation.

Purple that is a shame about asylum its irritating to have been so close, but well done on only being stopped by illness, and thank you for introducing me to asylum as I prob will come back to it and wouldn't have attempted it otherwise.

I was poorly too and sore knee so haven't exercised all weekend, feel totally ok today but decided to take the day off just to be sure Blush

Hope everyone is on the mend now and beginning to feel better? x

I did a it of H&C yest and t25 core abs today - I was quite happy to discover that as I hate 10 min ab workouts that have to be added on to another workout. unfortunately I hurt my back towards the beginning so had to modify...actually my back has almost gone once or twice before when exercising so I am going to have to be more careful. What is it with all the illness and injuries. Hopefully the spring will warm our bones and have us all on top form again soon.

Oh no poppy. I hope your back sorts itself out. I get really scared when my back gets sore in case I've done some damage but luckily for me it's always turned out to be a sore muscle and nothing more.

I'm back healthy and back working out. Smile! I was actually really ill for a few days but a day of just sitting at home dozing seems to have sorted it. I had 5 days off in the end and had the same experience as reastie with my digestion Blush. Now I've discovered that I'm moody and constipated when I don't exercise it's just one more reason to keep up the habit!

Broke myself back in gently with back to the core. Will I ever be able to do reverse plank knee up things?? . Plyo tomorrow.

I also had a chat to DH and have said I'm going to bring my asylum kit and weights with me on hols (it's a uk hol) so that I can finish asylum. He thinks I'm an obsessive lunatic. But then again, he knew that when he married me! Grin

Purple I'm glad you're feeling better. I think you're totally sane for taking your DVDs on holiday. I've been doing the same for the past five years! I may not do a workout every day but a manage a few and it means I carry on as normal once I get home.

Well, huge good news. I have a recovery plan now and I'm allowed to do a run (albeit 20mins gentle jogging) at the week end, yay! My sloth like down time is hopefully nearly st an end. No insanity or similar allowed but at least I should be allowed 4 gentle workouts a week and build up assuming all goes well.

Tmi but I'm still suffering with constipation! Speaking of which, I heard the news today saying ten portions of fruit and veg a day. I generally do well with fruit and veg but I'd say my maximum for a usual day would be 7, I'd really struggle for 10!
