Thanks all - maybe I am off with my measuring Blush I used this website www.calculator.net/army-body-fat-calculator.html I am not really lean sadly but 23 does more or less match up with the images on this illustration pics - I am defo closer to 25% pic than 20% pic though. I will take some pics once I get through my chalean insanity hybrid.

Wonders about Jodie from Big Brother as minor celeb?

I did insanity max30 cardio 2 - I was totally pooped by 15 mins instead of 20 but really enjoyed it, esp the basketball moves Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 14/10/2016 12:08

hmmm or maybe in fact closer to the 30 % image Confused heres some more info simeonkrastevfitness.com/about-body-fat/

RoastieToastieReastie · 14/10/2016 17:49

I did my body fat analyser machine for the first time in months today (haven't done it as not doing weights so I know I've lost muscle and was too depressed to see). My body fat was nearly 35% whereas at its best I'm sure it was around the 30 mark. According to the link I'm obese . Have had a talk to myself this week and aim is to go all out next week and get back in hardcore mode as my modified programme is really fun but I'm not pushing myself hard enough for results. Also rethinking food too. Hopefully if I can lose a couple of pounds I'll feel a bit more positive. My waistline is definitely larger than last winter.

Gah your celeb guesses are far too famous, like I say instructor isn't really a celeb it's more the people she did DVDs with. I don't mind you knowing but I don't know who'll see the thread and really don't want to out myself so leaving it at that if you don't mind but if you really want to know I will pm you and you'll be disappointed

Well looking at that chart, I would say I was between 30-35 % but I bet I am actually nearer 40 % Shock

roastie I will join you in giving myself a slap and jumping back on it again next week Blush whilst I have been working out regularly, my diet has totally gone to pieces and I have been eating anything and everything! Re-focus next week...

yumyumpoppycat · 14/10/2016 20:31

Roastie - I have another guess Jackie - but dont say if I am right!

The chart is a bit confusing we are probably all being hard on ourselves - I started off thinking 23% was prob correct, then 25 but now think 30! I had to abandon exercise for a bit to concentrate on losing weight which I feel a bit ashamed of as being fit and exercising is more important.

Purpleraindeer · 15/10/2016 10:08

I don't think those graphics on body fat can be right - or maybe I mean that it depends such a lot on how much muscle you have and where you carry your fat you can't really just look at pics. Mine was 24 (I think) and I look somewhere between the 14 and 18% pics which makes me think none of the them are very reliable. I use the us navy fat calculator which someone on here recommended.

Can't remember who asked, but for 21dfx I use weights when she says weights and bands when she says bands. I hate the bands as I miss most of the exercise whilst I faff trying to get the band sorted. Hopefully going for my weekly run this afternoon. Lovely.

Have a good weekend all

Theromanempire · 15/10/2016 12:08

purple I see, are you doing the extreme workouts then as in the basic 21day fixes, the workouts are all done with weights and the band is optional if you don't have any weights.

yumyumpoppycat · 15/10/2016 17:53

I am doing some free trial classes at a gym and did one today - it was nightcluby style with dark lights and really noisey music, which was fab as it meant I wasnt self conscious of my breathing or red face. I really enjoyed it and was fun to be one of the people choosing the burpee options Grin, the instructor also picked me out when I was slacking which was good in a way!

yumyumpoppycat · 15/10/2016 17:54

You are probably right purple about the fat calculators and a lot depends on perception and how tight you hold the tape measure etc

yumyumpoppycat · 15/10/2016 18:14

Ps I measure first thing before breakfast my waist measurment would be a lot bigger in the evening

yumyumpoppycat · 15/10/2016 18:55

OK I just did my measurments in the US one and got obese 33% or acceptable 30% depending where I measured - Purple try the army one I just linked to a few posts ago, will be interesting to see if your new result matches up with the graphics chart.

Awww shucks that means my fat % hasnt gone down as much as I thought as that was probably the one I used last time.

RoastieToastieReastie · 15/10/2016 19:13

Wow I've just done that fat calculator for army people and got 30 which is far better than the 35% of my scales so I'm clinging onto that, just lost 5% body fat in a day! But agree depends on how you take the measurement so presuming the scales are more accurate really.

Yumy that class sounds really fun and go you with the advanced options. Are you going to join? Fwiw it's not Jackie.

Did a 5k run in 30 minutes today which although not record breaking was better than I've managed the past week or so so I'm happy with that. The plan was to do 5 mins of abs when I got back but I had pushed myself so hard on the run (I know I know it's only 5k, but I'm not sure to running still) my stomach really hurt and I couldn't do the abs work. I'm very tempted to do insanity asylum speed and agility tomorrow as I miss it and modify moves for arm issue but will see how I feel in the morning and may do another workout.

Thermo how is the diet refocus going? Today I've been relatively good so far. Well, I'm always good in what I eat it's more quantity. I'm starting to have what I usually have as pudding for dinner after my soup (which is fruit and plain yoghurt and sometimes some almonds too) an hour or so after dinner to try to keep me full uo for longer but with the same calories so I'm less likely to add calories snacking. I've also got a smaller bowl for my lunch and trying to weigh my breakfast cereal to make me aware of portion size.

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 15/10/2016 23:00

roastie the refocus starts on Monday so am sure you can guess how my diet is going this weekend GrinGrin it has involved Wine

Did do Dirty 30 this morning, one of my faves Smile

EleanorAbernathy · 16/10/2016 00:46

sneaks back in........

I've just had another contrast week on Trinity, and braved month 2 Insanity this time! I surprised myself by not dying or puking, and my upper body strength is a lot better than when I did the whole program!
I did the evil hour long one for the second time today and spent most of it swearing at that annoying Anthony bloke who says "hurts so good".

In other news - I didn't get into the London Marathon, I'm sooo pleased because then I'd have to do it! Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 16/10/2016 17:56

Hi eleanor Grin lovely to have an update sounds like trinity is working out well, what do you make of it are you still enjoying it?

Theroman dirty30 is hard ... well done.

Roastie scales are notoriously unreliable I say stick with the army ;) I think I will defo continue to do some classes but probably a basick pack so only one or 2 classes a week. Did yoga today bit hmmm about that class.

Purpleraindeer · 16/10/2016 18:19

Good work on those burpees poppy. I bet everyone else in the class thought you were hardcore!

Eleanor - welcome back. Sounds like trinity is doing the business. I didn't find insanity good for upper body strength either. I'm really noticing it now as exercises
I did on 21dfx which were absolutely awful right after insanity are ok now. Although insanity is soooo effective in other ways. Do keep posting and letting us know how trinity is going. It sounds really good.

I'm shattered after a lot of exercise this weekend. Did a hilly off-road 5miles on sat and weirdly ended up with lower abs aching. Then today in a practice for my mountain race I carried 13kg dS in one of those backpacks for 2.5hrs to a pub lunch and back. Omg. I ached in some weird places - was glad I did it as made me realise I need to do more walks with weight to prepare as I need to walk for 24km and do 1000m of climbing carrying that sort of weight. Shock. Then limped thru 21dfx dirty 30. That bonus balance move at the end is ridiculous! Zzzzzz will sleep well tonight

Theromanempire · 16/10/2016 18:59

purple have only done 21dfx dirty 30 once so couldn't remember the bonus move so just went and checked it out. I remember it now and, unsurprisingly, I modify it Grin Well done on all the exercise today.

yum I am still hmm about yoga but I can see the benefits of it but would need to go to a beginners class I think.

eleanor what is Trinity?

Active recovery day here so I did Giddy Up then T25 stretch. The format of Giddy Up was the same as the last workout I did but the moves were more complicated and slightly increased cardio. Still no Footloose though Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 16/10/2016 19:16

Yumy what was Hmm about yoga? I really enjoy my weekly yoga but is more of a recovery workout but some poses are really challenging. It took me quite a few sessions to get into it though.

Good to hear from you Eleanor. I didn't get a place on the London marathon either if it's any consolation. I want to know what trinity is too.

Purple that's exactly what happened to me yesterday with lower abs aching after my run! Sounds like you had a super fit week end.

Thermo you'll just have to try them all till you find footloose!!

I did insanity asylum speed and agility. I forgot how hard asylum is! I really wasn't up to the right fitness for it and had to modify alot with elbow/arm issue. I love the speed bits on the ladder with jumping and running but all the plank/push up based stuff I can feel I've lost so much strength from my upper body and had to be careful not to do too much. I did enjoy that I was able to do bear crawls though [weirdo].

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 16/10/2016 21:31

Come on Footloose. That sounds like the perfect active recovery duo Thermo.

Purple I misread your post to dp and said you were doing a thousand miles of climbing Blush that sounds very hardcore regardless. He used to do a lot of cross country and said make sure to practice with the actual pack you will use (but with heavier weight in) and shoes you will be using as weight distribution will be different, shoes will make a difference etc.

Roastie the class was a bit too busy and was supposed to be beginner but I was the worst...maybe it is my pride making me Hmm My kneck is hurting a little and I would be majorly miffed if yoga gives me an injury! I think also because I loved yesterdays class it was a bit dissapointing. I obviously worked harder at the class yesterday than I do at home because I have aches in weird places today too!

EleanorAbernathy · 17/10/2016 00:22

Theroman and Roastie THIS is Trinity, it's a weights and nutrition programme.
I've lost half a stone on it so far despite the fact I must be gaining muscle as I feel stronger! Grin
And I'm almost at the lowest calorie level now, and I still get nearly 1600 to play with - I can have gin too if I save some macros!

I did have to have a couple of weeks off recently as I started on new pills and they decided to give me ALL of the side effects - I daren't squat for a week at least Blush but they let my start again back where I left off!

RoastieToastieReastie · 17/10/2016 19:23

Eleanor those transformations looks brill on trinity. Hope you feel better on your new medication soon.

Yumy the point of yoga is to ignore what other people do and it's all at your own level. Sometimes I do more advanced options in my yoga class and other times I'm on the basic with old ladies managing more than me.

Gym class today and really dropping in sweat yet didn't feel I was working hard enough. Why is it I can do a really hardcore impossible workout and barely sweat and yet do a basic cardio workout which gets my heart pumping but nothing challenging and I'm dripping in sweat? I don't get it. I think next time I go back I'll try ten minutes or so running on the treadmill afterwards and maybe some abs work then build up the treadmill to make it more challenging and give me an extra running opportunity.

Coming back on in misery at how bad my eating has been today. Trying to cut back on food and did really well until after dinner. When I don't eat enough (as in enough calorie wise but less than usual) my stomach always does the same thing which is I get terrible stomach pains and ibs pain and bloating until I eat lots and it doesn't go until I eat more than I would have if I hadn't have been cutting back. I hadn't even cut back a huge amount either. It's so depressing and now I've had to eatto stop the pain (I've had this issue for years and nothing else helps it aside from eating until it sorts itself out) I have a really heavy and fat feeling tummy :( . I don't think I've ever met anyone else which gets is stupid issue and it really hinders my weight loss. I've had good food items for the eating (a little prorridge and some homemade muesli with oats, quinoa flakes, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, almonds, and sultanas) but too much of it .

OP posts:
Theromanempire · 18/10/2016 15:19

Eleanor that does look interesting but I am scared to put my e-mail address in for more information in case I end up bombarded with e-mails. What do you get when you submit your e-mail? Do they then ask for more information regarding your weight etc to tailor the programme (at which point I assume there is a charge?) sorry, lots of questions Blush

Roastie I am a 'sweater' regardless of the workout but I definitely sweat more during cardio workouts than strength ones - you should have seen me when I used to run Grin Sorry about your stomach problems - no advice as it does sound unusual but I guess you just need to listen to your body and feed it if it needs it but keep the food on the healthy side as you have been doing.

Did Upper fix extreme this morning once I had finished my night shift - wow, it was hard, particularly on the triceps (and that was modifying the tricep dips Blush) However, I didn't really 'get' the 30 seconds of heavy weights and then 30 seconds of light weights - does anyone know if there is a technical reason as to why this works more than continuing on the heavy weights? On all of them, as soon as I picked up the light weights, it was like lifting air so not sure what the benefit was Hmm Or do I need to up my weights to make the 'heavy' ones really really hard and the 'light' ones just hard? However, I haven't got the facility to up the weights gradually as we just have dumbells of various weights so it would be quite a leap to go up to the next weight!

RoastieToastieReastie · 18/10/2016 15:30

Thermo that's interesting with the light and heavy weights. I'm not sure about the logic behind that either. I can understand different speeds or different types of lift (like a full bicep curl and a bottom half and then top half bicep curl) but not the swap of weights, but I assume there's a good logic behind it.

Did another cheeky run this morning. Just under 5k in 30 minutes. Then came home and did the abs section (only ten minutes) of my 30p davina body buff DVD. Was very pleasantly surprised that it was much easier than anticipated compared to bb workouts. I did the five minute easy abs bit and th five minute more advanced moves and did pretty much all reps and only modified one move a little. It felt like I'd worked my abs and it was an achievable workout whereas every bb abs workout I've done has been on another level of difficulty for me with my rubbish core. Makes me realise how good bb workouts are and how much more advanced many of them are than the bogstandard DVDs. I think I'll stick with it for a couple of weeks as it's better than no abs work and I wouldn't dread doing it.
