I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

I just done Slim in 6 which had less intensity than the others but I'm still sweating so I'm hoping to do 30 day shred in the morning then Slim in six when my dad has a nap.
I don't want to waste that free trial Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 29/09/2016 19:29

Yumy I've only tried three of them and didn't notice any huge difference in difficulty of moved. You will find it very slow in pace compared to insanity! I missed the running thread. Resistance bands are definitely out as that's what initially made the injury bad. I'm feeling very down still and think I need to work more on food too, which is always a struggle for me as I suffer a lot with hunger which is a nice way of saying I'm very greedy. I've been thinking about it and I think the reason I'm so down about it is that I usually do a bb programme so I'm told what to do when so I feel like by following that I have to be doing enough. Just free styling I feel like I'm floundering and not working nearly hard enough. I've lost my oomph! swimming tomorrow.

Well done Hotling! Grin

Roastie this is the running thread. www.mumsnet.com/Talk/exercise/2623474-A-year-of-running-before-and-after-pics maybe in the short term if you can tick off some sort of running goal and get in a groove with that so you can see some progress until you can get back to workouts you want to do?

RoastieToastieReastie · 29/09/2016 20:50

Thanks for that link so much, it's so motivating how amazing her legs got from running and reading the thread I thought she might do insane ants of running but she does 5-8k twice a week and 10k once a week. If I can build up from 4-5k to 8-10k (although pace will be so slow initially) twice a week then an aerobics class, a yoga class, an insanity (or other bb DVD) and as little swim once a week (maybe that can be my active recovery) that doesn't sound so bad (although very cardio based but maybe that will help me lose weight). I just need to focus on how to avoid getting stitch as that's what's holding me back on the runs.

Hello! Just had 2 days off in a row which is weird for me. Did tabata strength to make up for it tonight tho. I'm a bit addicted to max 30 at the moment. every night I intend to do something else and then change my mind at the last minute.
Roastie - what about training for something using the running? Or an aquathlon - swim/run? Might give you some focus if you're feeling like you need it?
I've vowed to go running once per week. Let's see how long that lasts.
Also did you all know that they do insanity classes in gyms? Can't decide whether that would be great or just a pale immigration of Shaun t

RoastieToastieReastie · 30/09/2016 15:10

Purple they do insanity class at my gym but I'm an off peak member and those classes are all peak times in the evening when I can't go. They also do Piyo and s p90x class at my gym too (I'm intrigued by a p90x class).

Did swimming today. Very slow plodding pace and constantly lapped by an old man but did 34 very small lengths which beats my last two swims of 20 lengths. I've decided to think of swimming as an active recovery as I'm so rubbish at it I'll never get fast or good form.

Purple London marathon draw is next week, you never know, I might get a place!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 30/09/2016 18:23

Those gym classes sound fun. A gym near me does insanity classes but only a couple a week and the time doesn't suit also a bit scared of not being able to keep up or tripping over or something suitably embarrasing

Roastie that is really great progress on the swimming, and who knows where running will take you!

Purple I get what you mean about insanity max 30 there is something weirdly addictive about it, I am even considering upping it to 3 times a week but dont want to go bananas! Accidentally repeated tabata power this morning, still no closer to scissor kicks. Also is it just me who finds c sits uncomfy on their bottom bones? I think there was a workout last week that involved lots of c sits and situps and I must have bruised my butt! Problem is that one of my exercise mats is too thin and the other is way to thick.

yumyumpoppycat · 30/09/2016 18:54

Dp just asked me to google how to get a 6 pack (for him not me!) and found this which I thought was quite interesting (if a bit repetative!)

www.bodybuilding.com/fun/6-ways-to-get-ripped-6-pack-abs.htm

yumyumpoppycat · 01/10/2016 18:27

Ooh it's quiet on here!

I collected hammer and chisel from the sorting office today, (it actually arrived mon or tue s v quick). Really pleased, it seems legit havent checked the dvds) but it was beachbody packaging, new and sealed and appears to have been sent by amazon {confused} . Was only £29.95 but includes shakeology bottle and those little protion control boxes. You get a box with the autumn dvds inclusing bonus 21 day fix dirty 30 workout, and a sagi box including a bonus body beast workout. Bargain I think Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 01/10/2016 18:33

Sounds great Yumy, hope you enjoy it. Interesting six pack link too.

No workout today as had to work (boo) but hoping for a run tomorrow and have rejigged my music playlist in anticipation.

yumyumpoppycat · 01/10/2016 18:47

Thanks enjoy run tomorrow Roastie! Hope you get some good running tunes sorted, (mini confession here I once had a mini row with dp before I went for a sunday morning run and found it was very good for spurring me on - especially when some fast music came on!)

RoastieToastieReastie · 01/10/2016 21:08

Thanks Yumy, although I won't deliberately row with dh to get a pb Wink

Keep meaning to ask, does anyone here use protein powder? I've never tried it or bought it but I'm wondering whether to add some into some nut bar things that I make to bulk then out and add different proteins into it. I've read very conflicting things about their actual usefulness and how much point they are so I'm conflicting about it but wonder if it's worth a try. I'm looking for one that doesn't have any added flavour or sugar or sweetener in it and must be gluten free. If you have any recommendations or thoughts on protein powder would be very interested. Protein is something that seems to be unanimously important for athletic people and I have limited supply of protein (I eat nuts, seeds, cheese, yoghurt, and some milk every day and several times a week have tofu and maybe once a week an egg) and think upping this could be good.

Roastie I got this one from holland and barrat when they had their buy one get one half price Hmm sale: www.amazon.co.uk/Naturya-Organic%C2%A0Hemp-Protein-Powder-Nutritional/dp/B004ROU5G4/ref=sr_1_6_a_it?ie=UTF8&qid=1475416344&sr=8-6&keywords=hemp+protein

I have only used the hemp a couple of times, I made a yum ' chocolate ice cream' with frozen bannana, berries, cacao powder, hemp powder, peanut butter and a teaspoon of fiber. You cant taste the hemp powder if you add it to yoghurt or whatever.

We also have a more standard protein powder from my protein www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/impact-diet-whey/10530657.html?autocomplete=productsuggestion but it was revolting as had a real artifical taste.

If you go for a hemp option then apparently it is good to mix it with pea and rice protein.

So shattered yest just running around with kids so didnt exercise, went out last night and didnt drink alcohol but still feel hungover today so that was a waste of time! Need to fit in chalean burn 3 today.

Purpleraindeer · 02/10/2016 16:15

Sounds like a bargain poppy. Let us know how you find it

Yep I use protein powder roastie. I feel a bit weird about it as it's not as if I'm a body builder or anything, but it really helps me get enough protein. Thinner leaner stronger book said that for my weight I should be having 140g per day and I found it hard to get that amount from just food. Now I put a scoop in my porridge every morning. I also make protein pancakes with it at the weekend - yum.

So, did my first run today. 5miles. Had map my run on telling me my split times and got really fed up as I thought I was too slow. I ended up speeding up loads and felt shattered when I got back and the run wasn't that fast. Was a bit dejected and then checked my pace from this time last year and it turned out I was running 30s per mile faster than I was then. Oops. Legs are now killing me. Will slow down next time! It showed me the difference between a race and a training run tho. On my duathlon last weekend I ran at 22mins per 5k, today it was about 29mins and I felt more knackered - adrenaline is a wonderful thing!

yumyumpoppycat · 02/10/2016 16:27

Which protein powder do you use purple? Well done on your run, it was a beautiful day for it.

Just realised its Oct now and still have a headache so skipping workout today, have done a good 2 hour of walking though, and will do some kind of a double tomorrow and moving to the next phase of chalean weights. I might start hammer and chisel in dec but think it would be good to save it for motivation after christmas. Either way I will have a look at the discs this week and feedback Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 02/10/2016 17:55

Miserable lack of workouts this week end. Working yesterday then today have felt really ill and couldn't even manage a stretch DVD Shock. Have barely moved from the sofa all day :( . Hoping I feel better tomorrow for step class, especially as dh has just told me he is working on Tuesday when he usually takes DD to piano lesson meaning I will need to which is when I fiT in Tuesday's workout .

I think I will definitely give protein powder a go just not exactly sure how much and when to incorporate it. Think I might make snack bars with it to have every day but not sure if that'll be enough. Now I don't know which one to go for as way going to try a whey one as its hbv protein but maybe hemp is worth a try. I found this interesting but I feel even more confused now!

Purple sounds like you did great on the run, well done and hope those legs don't ache too much in the morning!

Oooh very interesting thanks some of it was over my head possibly a bit of a bias/agenda towards plant based, and hopefully meat from uk doesnt have all the issues of usa? I decided to get the hemp protein because I have dairy and meat and eggs quite a lot so it adds a bit of variety.

I got delite bars from costco a while ago btw, they worked out about £1 a bar and have an amazing 30g of protein each and taste like a slightly chewy but yum chocolate bar - I figured they were a bit too processed to actually be healthy though so not sure if I would buy them again.

Hope you feel better tomorrow Roastie

RoastieToastieReastie · 03/10/2016 09:47

Yumy I admit I didn't read the meat protein bit as I'm veggie so it wasn't relevant to me.

Not feeling on full form so cancelled gym class but just finished workout at home. Decided to try Tabata (or however you spell it) power for the first time. Maxed out about five times (three of which were th tuck jumps at the end!). Didn't realise it was so push up/triceps dense which I can't do with injury so was naughty and did modified push ups (which I shouldn't have) and for tricep moved I did core work in csit which worked well. I've heard that workout recommended on here a lot and I see why as I liked the breaks! Just wish I didn't have to modify so much with my arm. Don't feel like I've given it my all but given how I've been feeling I figure it's better than nothing.

Purpleraindeer · 03/10/2016 21:26

Forgot to say - I use bulk powders vanilla protein powder. It does have sugar in it tho.

Well done on tabata power. I love that one as it has lots of variety in it. Hope your injury is ok.

Legs really stiff this am. Decided to kill or cure with sweat intervals. It was closer to kill than cure, but I just about survived! Smile

Theromanempire · 04/10/2016 21:45

Evening Smile

Well I have started my 21-day fix journey (eventually Blush) have done Total Body Cardio which was really hard and then I did Upper Fix today which was much more manageable (although I cannot hold plank for 60 seconds!)

I going to chuck in some Country Heat on the days I have more time to do that and another workout afterwards - have been googling and there does seem to be some that are higher impact than others.

Interesting discussion about protein powder. Going to get into an exercise groove and then look at my diet.

yumyumpoppycat · 04/10/2016 21:51

Snap Purple I did sweat intervals today - think it's my favourite insanity max 30 (have only done the first set of discs though) . I couldnt go too hell for leather though as I did it later in the evening and didnt want to annoy the neighbours with too much loud jumping well that's my excuse those split running jump thing are killer.

Roastie well done on tabata power!

yumyumpoppycat · 04/10/2016 21:54

cross posted the roman well done on getting started it's the hardest bit.

Purpleraindeer · 04/10/2016 22:21

Total body cardio roman?! Hardcore. That is a tough workout. I know i should do it again but it hurts.....

Did 22hc resistance 2 then core 2. I hate core work outs. I was quite close to stopping 1min into the core one, but then remembered that dinner was in the oven so no point in stopping as it wasn't ready to eat yet. Smile I did manage to keep up with them on weighted burpees which I was pleased with. That is a whole new type of hell.

Theromanempire · 04/10/2016 22:27

purple it was hard but that is the first workout on the 21-day fix schedule which I am following. Maybe they plan the hardest one first to make the rest of the week seem easier??

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/10/2016 15:46

Hi all,

Just finished yoga class. This week is a rubbish week workout wise and I weighed myself this morning and have put on 2lbs :( . I spent the whole yoga class seeing myself in the mirror being appalled by my huge stomach and telling myself how fat I am Blush . Please don't tell me I'm the only one who has such self destructive thoughts. I really need to work on this.

Got my shoulder MRI results and it looks like I have degenerative osteoarthritis in my shoulder which can't be reversed . I'm awaiting the elbow results which should be the most interesting as that's where the main issue is but I'm not very upbeat about the arthritis result.

Sorry for such a downer. Am hoping for a run tomorrow morning and hopefully will fell better after that. I shouod hear in the next week or so if I've got a place in the London marathon or not.

Purple I hate hc22 core 2, it was my absolute nemesis.

Yumy if you got a plyo mat wOuld that stop some noise for the neighbours so yeah didn't have to worry? Remember land like a cat according to Tony!

Go thermo! Did you do anything today?
