I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

Purple, when you go for a run can I ask what sort of speed/length you do? I'm just starting on the whole running ok it's more like jogging business and past two weeks have done a couple a week. Never really done it before but my pace has increased a teeny bit (yay). Atm I'm doing just under 5k and it takes around 25 minutes, which I know is slow but I have to start somewhere! I must start either increasing the length or else doing a core workout afterwards. Bought myself in the sweaty Betty sale some winter running gloves as my hands have skin issues and running in the cold will not be good for them. I'm also debating getting a long sleeved running top as all I have are sleeveless gym tops and a running waterproof.

Theroman I just worked out your nn Blush . In my head you were thermoman for some reason Blush Blush

Thermoman - love it Grin

I think 25 mins for 5k is fast - I used to run and my PB for 5k was about 35 mins Blush

RoastieToastieReastie · 25/09/2016 20:13

Thanks thermoman (sorry, it's stuck now!). My sister does running regularly and I keep trying to set up a run for us together but we can't get dates sorted but I'm worried she'll be too fast so I'm trying to train myself a bit ready for that. Maybe I should enter a 5k race . Not to win obviously but I've never partaken in a race.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 25/09/2016 20:19

I think 25min 5k is fast for a training run too. If you can do that in training you should try a race!
i tend to run 3-6miles and I've got a whole load of routes near me that are that sort of length. It's been a while since I did a 10k race but then i made sure I could run 8miles so the race distance was comfortable.

RoastieToastieReastie · 25/09/2016 20:49

Oh dear, maybe I got it wrong as I'm not very fast! I will check run keeper on my phone tomorrow and probably find out I was completely wrong! Maybe it was nearly 4 k rather than nearly 5 k. My splits were averaging around 6.10 (I don't know what that means)

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 25/09/2016 21:49

Well done Roastie.

I nearly bought a book on running from book people yest but went for one on making your own cosmetics...I a regretting my decision now! Would love to be able to run, I find it more difficult than workout dvds.

Purpleraindeer · 26/09/2016 22:08

6.10 splits mean a c30min 5k. That's a perfectly respectable pace - not slow at all roastie. Why don't you do a park run or something to see how fast you could go?

Did Friday fight 1 tonight. Will be aching tomorrow I think.

Theromanempire · 27/09/2016 06:12

Morning, just about to go to bed after a long night shift but wanted to share that Country Heat is now on the secret site (I have been reading back on this thread and noticed that some of you want to try it). I have had a look at the first workout - it looks fun! Don't think it will be hardest cardio workout for those of you who are into Insanity Grin

Any thoughts on how I can integrate it with 21-day fix??

RoastieToastieReastie · 27/09/2016 14:51

Ok, so I tried to do insanity this afternoon but it was too soon after lunch and it made me feel really ill and get stitch (grr) so I had to stop before the end of the warm up and thought I'd use the oppertunity to try country heat! (Thanks for the heads up thermoman). I can report back that it is extremely easy from an athletic point of view. Think warm up pace for the whole way through. I didn't feel my heart rate pick up much so I feel like I've cheated and not really done a workout. She did two moves at a time and step touch in between. I thought at the end we'd put it all together in a dance but nope, that was it, just two moves then a break then another two moves etc. Moves were things like box step. Definitely a beginners workout. The music was quite catchy (there was footloose at one point!) and Autumn seemed good (and so so perfect Envy ). The backing people looked mainly like they could be random people off the street who enjoyed line dancing but in workout gear, but maybe that's the point of it. I don't think I'd do it again but it was worth a try.

Thank you for my jog feedback. I'm not as slow as I thought then! I'm quite looking forward to Thursday's jog then to see if I can beat my time or add a bit of length. I've discovered I need to leave it two hours after breakfast to help with the stitch but I still get a weird stitch feeling in my shoulder Hmm.

Oh, MRI this morning so hopefully will find out in the next couple of weeks what's actually wrong with me!

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 27/09/2016 17:36

How the mri roastie? I got a stitch when I tried insanity too!

Maybe other workouts will be harder on Country heat.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/09/2016 17:42

Ps hope you have recovered from friday fright purple {wince}. I chaleaned this am before school run and work. contemplating a stretch workout this eve as dp listening to football but might just watck my kitchen rules australia ;)

I wonder if there is a country heat 21 day fix hybrid theroman!

yumyumpoppycat · 27/09/2016 17:42

Ps please excuse my typos I dont get red squiggles with firefox.

Theromanempire · 28/09/2016 17:53

Mmm I thought Country Heat would be like that roastie. It looks fun but maybe needs tagging onto something more hard-core??

Theromanempire · 28/09/2016 17:57

Just Googled country heat and 21 day fix together and it has found this workout schedule which combines the 2. here

Theromanempire · 28/09/2016 17:59

Still trying to decide what to do. I am just procrastinating at the moment Blush

Sorry for the multiple posts, I am thinking aloud Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 28/09/2016 18:50

Hi thermo. You need to stop procrastinating and decide what to do and go for it!

Yoga here today and could feel from only a couple of weeks of dulling down my workout routine my strength and flexibility is already so much less :( very miserable about the whole thing. But in good news now the MRI is over I will hopefully in the next couple of weeks have some answers and a long term plan. In the meantime this week is a rubbish workout week as I'm busy tomorrow and working in Saturday meaning workouts are far too short and basic. Hopefully next week will be better. I'm still feeling low about my dress that was lose that is now tight.

Yumy I imagine all the country heat workouts are quite easy. I picked one that wasn't the first workout on purpose to give a real indication of it. I found it easier in both mental concentration and physically than Cize. MRI was fine thanks but I was in the appointment for an hour Shock. I hate having them but I'm glad I coped.

Hope boobz is ok and just busy. I wonder how she's managing to fit in her workouts.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 08:18

Planner looks good the roman, I was reading about active recovery on the my fitness pal feed and it looks like that would be an option for fitting it in, so basically 5 harder workouts interspersed with one or 2 country heats a week.

Is yoga ok roastie, maybe you could do a bit more yoga? are there any weighted exercises that are ok for you. Many people in your position me would not be carrying on like you are. It is beyond frustrating to have worked so hard for this to happen.

I had an unscheduled rest yesterday - have been feeling a bit worn out so no biggie and working from home today so have done insanity max 30abs workout (maxed out within 40 seconds Shock ). I started off unmodified but ended up modified for all the moves. DD2 is currently setting up a game for us to play before school and then hopefully I will fit in one or 2 30 min workouts over today! Hope I can report back that they have been done!

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 12:51

Got some work done. Did chalean burn 2, had been thinking of also doing a short piyo but my back is niggley so will call it a day. Contemplating lugging the hoover up to the loft and vacuming so thats a workout in itself.

RoastieToastieReastie · 29/09/2016 13:22

Well done yumy. I have Charleen extreme but not got around to starting it yet. Are there any workouts on the series which don't use weights and don't do push up type moves that I could try? I don't want to start a workout to find I have to stop it if I can't do the moves. Thanks for your encouragement. I've been told no free weights at all as just lifting them isn't good for the injury. I am wondering about weight machines at the gym but I'm not sure when I'll fit it in.

Jog this morning. Only 4K and got stitch (so annoying) but averag pace was 6.14 km (I have no idea what that means but it took me 25 minutes to do 4K.

Yumy so is active recovery just doing an easy workout for a recovery day then? I like that idea although I'm doing too many easy things atm

OP posts:
Hotlingbling · 29/09/2016 13:23

I gave up on Shaun Sad and went to 30 day shred. It's more my pace.
I don't feel the burn as much the next day though which I actually like as it makes me feel like I've done some work, but I'm not heaving and gasping for water during the workout which I think would've made me procrastinate.
It's also shorter.
I'm hoping to complete 30 days then move back to Shaun but by then my free trial would end.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 13:30

Hotling, don't lose out on the suscription - Roastie mentioned cize as being a bit easier but not too easy - is that on there? What other options are there? Also dont be afraid to press pause for a swig of water - I always have water on hand. Just shows how we are all different though as I find 30 day shred really hard so well done on getting on to that!

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 13:38

Roastie yes, its doing something that isnt too challenging to give your body a break and muscles a chance to recover but also to keep things moving - and I guess in the case of country workout do something that is fun but not too taxing. Since combining insanity max 30 and chalean I have been finding I am a bit achey on days I don't do anything and feel like I want to stretch - its weird! I willbe sitting at my desk and start putting my arms benhind my head an pulling on my elbows like a total weirdo Grin

I think all the chalean extreme workouts have weights but on one of the workouts they are very light. There is a quite good turbofire workout on piyo? I have slim in 6 as it was mega cheap but its pretty oldschool dull but might be worth looking at on the secret site as more trad cardio I think.

yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 13:38

One last thing, hotling maybe you just need to go a wee bit slower?

RoastieToastieReastie · 29/09/2016 14:31

Yes hotling, just go at your pace and don't keep up with Shaun t. He also does rockin body which I once tried and found alot easier than t25/insanity and he does hip hop abs too. I really like Cize but only do it sometimes as its not as hard core as I like Grin but might work for you. Yumy Cize would be a good active recovery.

Yumy I have tf and have been doing a few, especially the hiit ones as there's less burpee type movements than Shaun t.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 29/09/2016 15:17

Yes! I am going to do that I have wanted to try cize. Will it make any difference which of the workouts I try first.

So there are no shortage of cardio workouts its just the intensity/results is missing without the strength element of weights or bodweight resistance. Some people swear by barre type workouts? Are resistance bands off too? Actually there was an excellent before and after thread where someone had got quite 'ripped' just by running. Did you see that thread Roastie?
