I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

Ok, I've just booked myself onto water aerobics in the morning. I used to love it years ago but the one at my gym is usually frequented only by old biddies, but I'll give it a go! So no rest day for me but I think it's hopefully a safe choice and on the plus side it means I can have my rest day on Friday which means I can stay later at work instead of go swimming and I have heaps to catch up on.

Only I like the sound of the format of Autumn as I found t25 pretty intensive and had to do my own breaks which made me feel a bit pathetic.

Purple hats off maxing out with Shaun t, great work, and I figure you work harder than him as he must stop a bit to show form etc of the other people in the DVD so you were better than him Wink

Just done water aerobics. Not sure whether to stick with as it was so easy I'm not sure how much I was working. It felt good for core but that's about it. I've booked it next week so will give it one more try. I will have to sort t another swimming costume though as mine is very low cut and unsupportive for my large bosom. It's fine for swimming but when flinging myself around and by being out of water there was a lot of concern they might break free! Did ten lengths afterwards to add a little extra difficulty to the workout.

lol Roastie, well done on trying new stuff, this might be a great way ti fgiure out some other fun stuff to add to your schedule even when your shoulder is better.

I chaleaned yest, found it harder than usual as working out before breakfast now. Rest today but (how appropriate has this worked out) its friday fight tomorrow...da da daaaaah

onlywhenyouleave · 16/09/2016 09:38

Omg, disaster!! The videos on the secret site stopped playing this morning due to requiring an updated Flash Player - not what I wanted at 5.15am this morning Confused Couldn't get it to load an updated Flash Player so ended up having to do Speed 2.0 on DVD instead of Cardio Fix. DH was not amused as we are busy this evening so I told him he had to get up at 5.15am with me and do his workout then - then when it all went wrong and I was spending ages messing about, he started to get annoyed Grin

Still working on my phone - just not the internet browser on the telly. DH is going to have a look at it when we have more time and he is less grumpy Wink. If he can't fix the problem, I guess I will have to bite the bullet and buy the 21-day fix DVD set.

Anyway, Speed 2.0 it was and I nailed it Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 16/09/2016 11:38

Only that is a disaster, however not as bad as I feared when I could only see the first line on threads I'm on and thought they stopped showing the videos Grin

Friday fight done, quite proud as got to 8.46 but was so out of breath after that I naturally slowed down a lot Blush

yumyumpoppycat · 16/09/2016 11:39

{ runs back for fist bumps for speed 2.0}

RoastieToastieReastie · 16/09/2016 15:04

Only I thought the same thing about it not working!! That is v annoying but at least fixable. The secret site videos haven't worked for me for a week or so, maybe it's something to do with that [clueless]

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 16/09/2016 16:30

What??!!! The secret site might not be working?! Shock am bloody glad I didn't find that out at 5am

Well done on Friday fight poppy. I always find the thought of not getting a break for 15mins tough. 9mins max out sounds good to me!

Did warrior from p90x3 last night. Found it a lot easier than last time. Must be fitter. Still get confused between 2nd floor and top floor on elevator push ups tho.

Remembered that I have my duathlon this weekend. I've been training by not doing any running or cycling. I'm going to have a sore bum and tired legs on Monday!

yumyumpoppycat · 16/09/2016 16:44

Grin good luck this weekend Purple - how can you forget a duathalon!! Love that the secret site being down causes you more anxiety Grin

onlywhenyouleave · 17/09/2016 08:22

purple how do you forget a duathlon?? GrinGrin good luck, am sure you are more than fit enough to get through it!

Right, still cannot get it to work on the TV Sad - smart TV my ass! Just so weird that it worked on Thurs evening and then stopped overnight Hmm

Going to have to go back to plugging the laptop into the TV and streaming it through that which is a total PITA. All the DVD sets I have found for sale do not include Plyo Fix, Barre Legs or Flat Abs Fix and they are ones I use regularly Sad

onlywhenyouleave · 17/09/2016 16:18

Have resolved my technical issues Grin we are now using the Xbox as an Internet browser...I carry on 21-day fixing Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 17/09/2016 16:19

Oooh interesting for anyone looking to change things up a bit, I just clicked on amazon look inside for the new recipe book and quinoa and wholegrains are ok (not really brown bread though as may have added sugar), brown rice is ok but looks like at a push. Lentils and beans too as we know.

Thinking about your porridge newaverage and interestingly I have read a few things online suggesting it is better to have carbs in the evening so poss a small helping of these things might be ok at dinner alongside meat etc? Guess its all about experimenting. I have found I am ok with one slice of Genius gluten free multigrain bread (quite a bit of fiber) so long as I pair it up with nut butter or an egg (and ideally some veg when I can be arsed ).

yumyumpoppycat · 17/09/2016 16:21

Oops sorry guys wrong thread Blush that was for BSD

Only have you tried looking directly on Beach body website, only prob is that it might be megabucks Sad

No work out yet but still might, however spent 3 hours doing heavy gardening with my dad this am which I think counts!

yumyumpoppycat · 17/09/2016 16:22

Just saw your update hooray!!

Purpleraindeer · 18/09/2016 14:36

Hello all! Survived duathlon. Actually really enjoyed it and would do another but probably would also need to do some actual training on the bike. Was a super puny distance - 2.5k run 14k cycle 2.5k run. I selected that as I needed to be back in time so that I could take the kids whilst DH did his 10k. Was a bit tempted by the triathlon, but put off again when I saw they came out of the pool then had to run 200m across a stony car park in bare feet at 7am!

Saw the news re the secret site. Phew!

onlywhenyouleave · 18/09/2016 16:30

purple well done Smile sounds like a good introduction into the world of duathlon/triathlons.

Turns out that using the xbox is far quicker than the TV to get to the videos so it seems to be a blessing in disguise that the TV stopped working Grin did Dirty 30 today. Back to the start tomorrow and my least fave Total Body Cardio workout Confused

Purpleraindeer · 18/09/2016 17:00

Just checked my duathlon results. I was first female! Pleased with that. My achievement is only slightly dimmed by the fact that there were only 5 women doing the novice race, but still.... Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 18/09/2016 17:39

Purple that is amazing, well done you.

Did insanity pure cardio yesterday and modified push up jacks to something else. Does anyone else get perfectionist syndrome with workouts? I feel like I'm failing when I have breaks because I'm pushing myself so hard I need so many breaks as I'm full force when I'm doing the moves, or I feel like if I'm failing if I don't have breaks because clearly I'm not working hard enough if I don't have any breaks. I feel like no matter what I do I'm never good enough for myself!

Felt all peculiar yesterday afternoon and still weird today so just did a stretch workout but hoping to go back to the step class again tomorrow.

yumyumpoppycat · 18/09/2016 18:19

Purple that is amazing Star insanity et el is paying off!

Roastie I know what you mean! I tried a davina dvd last year and instead of thinking oooh great I can do this easily I just got annoyed.

Only good news about xbox, extra precious minutes at 5.15!

Chaleaned yest after all, was really hard as kids were playing up and it was putting me off but as soon as they went off I lifted the heaviest weight (24lbs for sumo squat).

pontificationcentral · 18/09/2016 20:24

Hi - just popping on to ask a quick question, hope you don't mind! I have a (not very close, more of a school mum acquaintance) friend that has had amazing results with some of the beach body programs (she had been living with pain and immobility for several years due to some long term health problems, but decided to try something different instead of medications) and I've been having a look online.
I've just taken a leave of absence from work (a very sedentary job) to complete my MA, and am intending to use this time to regain my fitness after years of child rearing (after 17 years it feels like I have set aside time to do something for me, instead of everyone else). I've been looking into the programmes but there seems to be so many, so much choice, and I am foundering a bit as to what would be best.
Any ideas on where I should start? I'm mid-forties and about 2-3 stone overweight. I'm not scared of hard work and was pretty fit until my mid-twenties (boot camp/ circuit training/ marathons). I'm really looking forward to it but it seemed a lot simpler then!! I'd rather start with something that doesn't need a lot of gear/ different weights etc...
Sorry for intruding, but you guys seem to know your way around these programmes!

RoastieToastieReastie · 18/09/2016 21:00

Hi pontification. Hmm, thinking about what to recommend here. P90x needs weights and a pull up bar (and p90x 2 and 3 also need equipment) so you might want to avoid those (despite giving good results). Insanity is my favourite and IMO best beachbody workout. I started it when I was at least two stone heavier than I am now, but it is hard. I did a non beachbody workout schedule (I had never done bb before insanity. I was doing th xtrainfit DVD programme which is a lot cheaper than bb ones and quit good for what it is although the lady in the DVDs chats too much when I wanted to do the next move and it looks very budget (and I believe you need weights for that too) to get a bit of fitness before starting insanity, but you could doninsanity and modify it (insanity max 30 has a modifier but insanity the original you'd have to modify yourself). T25 I would say might be good but it has weights and is better for s workout if you're short in time. If you have time you might want something longer. I've never tried 25 day fix but some people here have, maybe that might work?

I've done hard corps 22 and didn't hugely rate it, and it also needs weights and a pull up bar. I quite like les mills combat from bb but I think that's been discontinued. Ohh, I'm just thinking, maybe turbo fire would be good as you can use resistance band which I'm sure comes with the set. It's not set at an impossible fitness level but it is full of very perky annoying American cheerleader type ladies. If I had to say I'd go for turbo fire for a month or so and then insanity after that when you've got a bit of fitness back.

Someone else might have better ideas though as I haven't tried all of them.

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 18/09/2016 21:20

I think Roastie is right insanity might be good for you but it might be worth starting off with something else. There are some links to insanity workouts earlier in the thread if you want to try them before you buy? I like the tangibility of the dvd sets with booklets though.

I really love T25, challenging but not as full on as insanity, you don't need weights for the first month or so and only need a basic set really once they are introduced. The Gamma workouts are really good so keep an eye out for the full set, pos on ebay?

pontificationcentral · 18/09/2016 23:57

Awesome, thanks both. I'll check out T25 and turbo fire as possible precursors to Insanity - that gives me somewhere to start! I did a term of beginnerTRX a few years ago, so I'm not completely averse to equipment, just think I need to start with something simpler (as in less complicated, rather than easier lol) and I found the class environment very intimidating. I need something home based rather than gym I think, so this really appeals.

pontificationcentral · 18/09/2016 23:58

I'll go back and try and find the insanity links too. Thanks!

Purpleraindeer · 19/09/2016 08:06

Roastie/poppy - I think we're all a bit hard on ourselves on this thread! Problem is with DVDs there is no objective measurement so you can never work out how much better you are than before or how you compare with others. I bet that would help with the constantly feeling like you're not doing enough - eg if you were a runner, you'd know what your pb for various distances was and objectively you'd know whether you were getting better. I feel the same as you both btw - sometimes I have awful workouts and feel knackered and rubbish but then other times I feel awesome.

Pontification - I started with Shaun t - T25 as did a lot of others on this thread. It's hard to start with but starts to feel manageable quickly. You could also try 21 day fix. I personally find Autumn a bit peppy, but I see why others like her. Good luck - let us know how you get on.

Amazingly am not too sore today. Will try pure cardio later. or maybe that horrific 21 day fix cardio one?
