I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

Well done on cardio challenge poppy - when I did that the first time I had to actually lie down on the floor for 5mins afterwards. It's a great workout - I love it.

I did max out strength last night. Hadn't done it for ages so had forgotten just how evil the press ups were and my legs were tired so I maxed at about 5mins! I thought of roastie banging out 330 press/pull ups and kept going Smile. Am still stiff, so rest day today

Roastie your injury sounds very frustrating. Do they know actually what it is but can't resolve it, or can't they diagnose it? Well done for being sensible re the modifying etc. That must be hard.

I couldn't find the les mills flow workout online so did my own random stretch last night. Felt odd without Shaun t telling me what to do

yumyumpoppycat · 31/08/2016 16:43

Thanks purple...I was a bit dissapointed not to be doing shaun today as was Chalen again today...how weird is that as I found it so hard! Max30 tomorrow hopefully. Do you think I should skip the tabbata ones and just do cardio?

Purpleraindeer · 31/08/2016 18:21

I find Shaun t workouts a bit addictive purely because they're hard. I didn't feel that way about any of the Tony Horton ones for some reason.
Definitely do the tabata ones too. They're cardio and strength. The first tabata one particularly is a really good all over work out but don't get disheartened by the plyo push ups - they come up early in the work out and are the hardest move by far. Good luck!

yumyumpoppycat · 01/09/2016 19:44

Tabata done this morning and my legs have been aching at work! Your words kept me going through the pushups Purple although I did modidy a fair bit. Nearly gave up at 26 mins but kept going.

Purpleraindeer · 01/09/2016 21:52

Yay. Well done for seeing it through to the end poppy. I love the bit when he says 'max out' at the end - the relief is massive!
Did max cardio conditioning (insanity 2) tonight. Am finally no longer sore. Hooray

onlywhenyouleave · 02/09/2016 12:43

Hi everyone - I am back from my holiday Smile

Haven't had a chance to catch up on the last 2 weeks of posts so apologies for no namechecking etc.

I have had 2 weeks of eating and drinking whatever I wanted and no exercise whatsoever...it is times like this that I am glad I do not own any weighing scales Grin

Anyway, need to get back on it. Me and DH are going to start the 21-day fix properly on Monday (not just putting together our own schedule) but am going to do some of my fave workouts this weekend to get me back into it.

Going to plug away with daily workouts and 16:8 diet until Christmas as it works (albeit very slowly!)

Catch up properly now Smile

RoastieToastieReastie · 02/09/2016 21:25

Hello,

Still plugging on with p90x3 but one more week then I'm changing. Initial plan was back to month 3 of p90x but I'm a bit bored of Tony after so long so thinking of returning to Shaun t.

Good news is I have an appointment next week with a consultant who is specialist in shoulder sports injuries, and mine is a shoulder/elbow issue so I'm hoping he can shed light on why it's not getting better so I can get it treated once and for all. I hope he doesn't tell me not to do any exercise involving shoulders or arms as that cuts out alot!

Getting a bit twitchy it's one month ish until the results of the ballot for the London marathon. I'm sort of hoping I don't get chosen as I don't know if I can do it. I'm not as hardcore as you all are but I don't want to say I've never tried as it's a bucket list thing and if I don't apply now I never will.

Took my blood pressure/heart rate the other day and they are quite low which explains the dizziness when working out sometimes. Heart rate (when I didn't feel particularly relaxed or chilled) was 47!

Only hope 21 day works for you. Keep me updated with it because I'm debating putting it on my Christmas list.

Purple yay for no soreness!

Yumy I'm amazed you can go to 26 minutes. I've only dipped into insanity max a couple of times so not long enough to see progression but I maxed out before the first five minutes even Blush

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 02/09/2016 21:43

Roastie good news about specialist ....I maxed out after about 8 minutes I had collapsed and was about to press stop at 26 mins ;)

Great to have you back Only sounds like a fun and well deserved hol!

Purple glad that the soreness has worn off.

Had a rest day as feeling yuk today with a bad cold, I should be ok with Chalean tomorrow will see how I go. If I do I will have fullfilled my 3 weights and 2 shaun t workouts for the week and can decide about rest day or maybe the stretch or abs from insanity max on sun.

yumyumpoppycat · 02/09/2016 21:46

PS if you do get the marathon I know you could do it, would be so awesome!

RoastieToastieReastie · 03/09/2016 07:26

Yumy how are you finding two Shaun t and three weights a week? Maybe I'll do something like that as I like having the option of choosing different things to a programme sometimes

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 03/09/2016 11:08

Just the first week but I like it and think it will work Roastie, nice and simple I can keep track without writing stuff down and good to keep in some shaun t cardio for fitness and variety. The layout of the Chalean extreme dvds work well for this as each week is the same workouts and dvds but the weights dvd changes each month for 3 months.

EleanorAbernathy · 04/09/2016 01:40

Hi - I'm not dead yet despite Shaun T's best efforts!
My shifts this week didn't give me chance to do an Insanity so for my first two workouts I did a cardio session at the gym, then went for a run. My cardio has gone a bit crap after just doing weights for a while, but I didn't stop or die!

I wimped out of Insanity month 2 due to my crap cardio - I've just finished the first month 1 one! (At 1.30am.... I'm acclimatising for a night shift tomorrow!) I felt a bit sick by the end but kept on going, and If I don't hurt too much I'm going to do the second one tomorrow - then back on the weights next week!

I've decided I'll take the crap cardio as a compromise as my baby abs are starting to make a reappearance (I affectionately think of them as my "ablets"...) - and I'm still eating 1800 calories! Im about 500 short at the moment so about to make a jacket potato.

Purpleraindeer · 04/09/2016 07:08

Welcome back only! Hope the integration back into the real world isn't too painful.

Roastie - good luck on the marathon ballot. London marathon is an amazing experience. A friend of mines sister entered as a joke and then got in. She loved it. Keep us posted.

I've discovered that I have an ab enhancing mirror in my living room. I did a work out in there on Thursday and I looked absolutely ripped. Was great - I was super enthusiastic on all the moves as was marvelling at my great abs. Then worked out yesterday in the garden and caught sight of my reflection in the patio door and was back to my usual more wobbly self. Sad. I could rent out my living room as a workout space tho. Grin

Max interval circuits last night (urgh). Max plyo later on today.

Working out at 1.30 am Eleanor? Shock

EleanorAbernathy · 04/09/2016 17:35

Just done Cardio Power and Resistance at a more sensible hour! Grin I forgot how much I like that workout. I'm a bit bendier now than the first time I did Insanity - I can even do the deep lunges now. I still sound like an elephant when I do the power jumps though.

Roastie I also entered the London Marathon ballot in a moment of madness and am really hoping I don't get in, as that means I have to actually do it! If I do I think I might defer until next year to give me more time to get my running back on track.

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/09/2016 19:18

Purple, I need your mirror in my house ;)

Eleanor 1:30 am?! That is dedication.

Yumy how is fix going?

I'm thinking of asking for the fancy weights one of you has (forget who, sorry, but you build them up to what weight you want). Whoever it was are you getting on well with them?

Decided to have a cheeky week off piste this week and did a Cize yesterday and combat today. Will probably do p90x3 lower tomorrow then have a yoga booked in for Wednesday to see me to midweek and going swimming maybe in Friday. All quite easy stuff but I'll be very tired going back to work after nearly two months off so building myself back in and restarting a new programme hopefully Saturday.

Can I ask if all of you have always been sporty/worked out? I've generally never been sporty or liked exercise. About 11 years ago I got into going to the gym and did maybe 4 classes a week but I chose classes based on what I enjoyed most rather than getting fittest (I couldn't do a burpee for example). Then I had a big back injury that out me out until I had DD then when she was 1 I started my weight loss mission and now I work out usually six times a week consistently (for over a year) (although one of them is usually a stretchy yoga type one).

OP posts:
onlywhenyouleave · 05/09/2016 20:40

purple love the thought of your magic mirror - unfortunately, there is no way it could turn my tummy into a six-pack Grin

Eleanor I think your 1.30am workout beats my 5.15am workouts hands down! That is true commitment Smile

Roastie in answer to your question about whether I have always been sporty - I was not at all sporty at school, hated PE, didn't play any sports etc. I first started exercising at university and have pretty much exercised since then (over 20 years now Shock) Started off with traditional aerobic/step classes then joined a gym - have fluctuated between working out in the gym and classes on and off during that time. Classes are my favourite by a long way and I have had periods where I have done 10+ classes a week.

I exercised throughout both pregnancies and went back quickly after each birth. I was lucky that DH was more than happy for me to go at weekend mornings and weekday evenings so my level of exercise didn't stop once the children came along.

However, that stopped a couple of years ago when DS2 was old enough to have his own extra-curricular activities (before that, he would just get dragged along to whatever DS1 was doing so I could go to the gym Blush). I had to cancel my gym membership as I just wasn't using it - me and DH have to take the boys to separate places each weekend morning and about 3 evenings a week so I just can't get to the gym Sad

Hence why I started home exercising instead - still don't think it is the same and I really miss the buzz of group exercise but I will get back to it in a few years.

Ooh that was a bit of an essay Blush

So I threw myself into 21-day fix today - started with Total Body Cardio and, omg, it was hard! Definitely the hardest one of the series in my opinion. However, if any of you super-fit people wanted to try it (it is on the secret site), I would be interested if you think it is hard or whether me and DH are just pathetic Grin

RoastieToastieReastie · 05/09/2016 20:50

Only I miss the group buzz too. I often high five myself at the end of a DVD Blush I have no idea why as I have never done this to anyone in a rl class but it just feels right at the end of a DVD

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 05/09/2016 21:28

Well done getting back into it only. Might try some more 21 day fix but I got scared off by 21 day fix extreme. I do love a 30min workout! Did max30 max out cardio tonight. Had an annoying day at work and this really helped - was an awesome workout - I worked super hard and loved it! Smile

Re being sporty - I was like you only and hated sport at school and got into it at uni. Got into running when I started work and ran regularly for years. Went thru a bad patch when we started trying for kids. I had a lot of miscarriages and I think in retrospect might have been a bit depressed and I just stopped exercising and got quite overweight. As I had my 2 kids so close together I didn't lose any of my first baby weight before getting pregnant again so I was pretty big when I started to work out again but I'd just had enough of being all tired and wobbly. I feel like I'm back to the old me again. It's great. Smile

Poppy - hope you're ok. Have you done any more max 30s? Watch out for Friday fight. It reaches peak horrible at 17mins, so just keep going - it gets easier from then.

yumyumpoppycat · 05/09/2016 21:43

That's one of the good things about insanity max 30 you sort of get the people watching hi five buzz Blush

No not sporty at ALL, none of it comes naturally to me which is one of the reasons I don't do classes. I exercised (jogs in park, davina, 10 min solutions etc) and dieted after DC2 and got down from a 16/18 to a 10. Back up towards an 18 after DC3, tried dieting, didnt work, got T25 and started thread 1 full of apprehension Grin and now here we are a year and a half later (?) and I am lifting weights and doing almost pushups and a size 12, but even better get to chat to you lovely lot Grin

Eleanor 1.30 is trully impressive! How is Trinity going?

Purple Flowers a friend had a very similar experience and now has 2 dc with a 21 month gap.

I really need your magic abs mirror, I think I have a magic muffin top mirror ;) Will let you know when I get to friday fight night eek. Shaun T tomorrow but think its the other tabata one as just doing the workouts in the order in the case.

Only I will try that workout soon in place of one of my Shaun T workouts - I am not one of the fitties unfortunately but still its always fun to compare notes!

Roastie I Chaleaned today using the powerblocks, they are very neat and ideal if space is a problem, but ideally you need a strong raised flat surface to rest them on for swiftly changing them for each exercise. I was using an ikea chopping block on the sofa which worked quite well last time but they got in a tangle today as the block is not really wide enough for both weights. Will try them on the floor on wed, if that doesnt work I will have to buy some mdf to keep under the sofa to make a table top when using them.

yumyumpoppycat · 06/09/2016 10:46

{drips on to thread}

Sweat intervals done, really got sweaty, had to take off t and cize in shorts and sportsbra. 3 belly hang down during ski abs was not a pretty sight.

DS has started secondary today!

onlywhenyouleave · 06/09/2016 10:58

Yumy I am with you on the 3 belly hang Grin One day it won't happen...

Purple try the normal 21-day fix workouts as they are still difficult (well some of them). I have done a few of the Extreme ones and they are a huge jump up from the normal ones so no wonder you got scared! The 'weights' ones aren't that difficult but I think the format works your muscles well but the cardio ones are quite taxing (well in my opinion anyway Grin) Try Total Body Cardio and Plyo Fix and let me know what you think Smile

Back to the 5.15am workouts again this morning after 3 weeks Shock Total shock to the system when the alarm went off but fortunately it was Upper Fix which I quite like which made it easier to get up.

Boobz · 07/09/2016 21:08

Hello all!

Still here, plugging away. My life is ridiculously crazy busy at the moment, hence the lack of posting. Makes me realise how much easier my life was in Rome - basically doing a 6 hour day and working from home.... now getting up at 6:45 to do the school run to South Ken from Streatham every day (dropping the kids off at school), followed by a proper working day and not getting home until 7 or 8. And then trying to manage selling and buying a house, all the admin involved with the kids starting a new school (with DH still in Rome - argh!), and now trying to recruit an au pair from January...

Work is so manic too - I have bitten off too much I think - but was so excited about the new role I just kept saying yes to everything they put in the job description. Argh. Am working for a couple of hours every evening once kids are in bed, and am also doing an industry related year long qualification which has tonnes of reading etc. Which I haven't started. Oops.

BUT! I promised myself I wouldn't let the phys go out of the window, so I am managing to do Barry's 4 times a week, and I do Insanity on Sunday, with 2 rest days per week. Which is working so far - I am super muscly now, and legs very defined, but I'd still like to shift about 2-3kg... no idea how much I weigh but I reckon 54/55?

Did my big wardrobe shop - spent FAR TOO MUCH money in Reiss and Gant, but now have a lovely work look I'm happy with. Only weird one is my hair has grown back curly post chemo, which I have no idea how to style :S

Only - can't believe you are back to 5:15am again - I did a 6am Barry's the other day and it nearly killed me.

Purple - Are you doing Max Insanity work outs again? How did the Asylum work out for you?

Hello to everyone else - will go back and read now!

RoastieToastieReastie · 08/09/2016 13:21

Boobz you are super busy but well done on fitting the workouts in where a lesse mortal would let them slack. When are you even managing to squeeze Barry's in? I'm guessing lunch hour?

Appointment tonight with specialist doctor about my injury, wish me luck!

P90x3 challenge today and yoga yesterday. I've discovered the yoga class I do (although not for much longer as I'm leaving the gym as o don't go enough, I'm going to stick with just home workouts) the extension moves she gives to make it harde are like the modifier moves to make it easier in p90x3! But this makes me psychologically feel that I'm doing really well.

RoastieToastieReastie · 08/09/2016 18:12

just back from doctor and need another Mri on arm and shoulder. He thinks initially I had tennis elbow then injured my rotator cuff adjusting picture from elbow injury and isn't getting better and may need steroid injection pending mri. Said no free weights, no push ups, and cut back/no hiit for now . He suggested running. Any ideas on DVDs that I can still do? Even if I do running I don't want to do it six times a week so want to mix it up with DVDs of some sort. I can't even do Piyo as a lot of that is push ups.
