I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

So, after insanity (seems like a lifetime away), can someone recommend a good short workout? What's T25 like? Or Max30? I need something that can fit in a bit better with life, preferably without equipment, and with a decent bit of variety. Thanks!

Dig deep!

onlywhenyouleave · 14/08/2016 21:09

doctor what about the 21-day fix series? They are 30 minutes and I really enjoy them. A slower pace than Insanity and a different format (think 1 minute of a particular exercise then a short rest) but they really work your muscles and there are 11 workouts to choose from. Or, if you want more advanced, do the 21- day extreme fix ones which are much harder. Or mix and match the 2 and, voila, you have 22 to choose from Grin

I love T25 but love these even more Grin

Can give you info on the better ones if you want it.

Purpleraindeer · 15/08/2016 06:30

Hi all. I'm on hols in sunny Italy for the next 2 weeks. Have iPad and workout gear tho so will be working out. Am slightly obsessing about what I'm eating which isn't like me - I can't cut loose and just eat what's available - I've already had pasta guilt. i want that to stop. What's the point in being healthy most of the time if you can't be unhealthy sometimes??

Glad you're enjoying insanity doctor. The results come so quickly don't they which make it feel super rewarding. If you like the cardio then max30 is your best bet. I think 21 day fix extreme needs weights?

RoastieToastieReastie · 15/08/2016 07:11

Have a great time purple. If you can't have guilt free pasta in Italy then when can you? Enjoy and try not to worry, it's only a few days of the year.

Doctor t25 uses weights, as does hard core 22 and p99x3 so insanity max might be your best bet for a weight free option.

Only, you're making me want to try 21day fix/extreme!

In transition week of p90x3 and yesterday doubled up with isometrix and dynamix. I can't believe how my heart rate was banging in isometrix considering all it is is holding balances.

Doctor apologies, I totally missed the 'no equipment' on your post Blush Ignore me then, 21-day fix is pretty much weight-based! (I blame lack of sleep due to the Olympics and lots of late nights Wink)

Purple just relax and enjoy your holiday and eat what you want - I totally agree that if you are generally good with your diet 50 weeks of the year, then you can let it go for 2 weeks. The damage will be easily repairable when you get back Grin

I go on Thursday to an AI hotel for 2 weeks - I will be back to eating 3 meals a day and beer and cocktails without a doubt and I am bloody well going to enjoy it Grin

Roastie you really should give 21-day fix a try. If you don't enjoy it, then at least you will know. I believe it has consistently been the best-selling Beachbody product for the last 2 years! It does have 2 total cardio workouts in the programme aswell as the weight based ones so it is a proper mix. I have ached more after these workouts than I ever have after a T25 one. DH has been a total T25 convert for months and months and wouldn't entertain doing anything else - I eventually managed to persuade him to try these workouts and he loves them (plus is constantly complaining about aching everywhere) am sure it is nothing to do with the skimpy outfits Autumn wears

If you can wait until September, me and DH are going to follow the workout schedule for 3 weeks by the book instead of dipping in and out of it - we can be virtual workout buddies?

Purpleraindeer · 17/08/2016 09:12

Hello all! You'll be pleased to know that I've embraced the pasta (and wine and chocolate) Grin

Have been max30-ing too. Halo

Hope you're all well

Boobz · 17/08/2016 12:20

Oooo where are you in Italy Purple?

I know exactly what you mean about the guilt - I had an off day yesterday and beat myself up about it. But then like you rememebered that we're pretty hard core most of the time, so I can have some bloody m & ms and I will still have my abs!

Have been Barry'ing and did one Insanity last week. Didn't work out all weekend due to kids' stuff, but keen not to let that happen this weekend.

I now have really muscly arms. Legs are ALWAYS the last thing to look good, so still got too much thigh wobble. Scales are in transit back from Rome to London so no idea how much I weigh but must be 53-ish I think based on clothes. Still want to get to 51-52 so am going to set myself a final challenge to get to that weight before doing my big wardrobe transformation shop in a couple of Saturday's time.

SO BUSY. House all ticking along but we have potential dry rot. Grr.

Oh and cancer check all went fine - thanks people for asking.

Sorry not to name check - will try and do it on the weekend when I have some down time (what is that?!)

LOVE LONDON, LOVE BEING BACK, LOVE BARRY'S

DoctoraNova · 17/08/2016 21:40

Delighted the medical check up went well. Was thinking of you.

Purpleraindeer · 18/08/2016 06:33

We're in Umbria boobz. It's lovely.
Glad you're pleased to be back in London. That must be quite the culture shock - sounds like it's in a good way. Same here with the legs - my arms and chest are now thin/too thin but I still have thighs. Also I have a weird bit of loose skin on my tummy I guess from being pregnant but I don't understand why no one else has it. DH says it wrinkles up and looks like a plastic bag. Shock I'm sure he means that kindly.....
Actually I'm now in a really good place body image wise. I know I'm super fit (don't normally max out doing max30 anymore) and know what clothes look nice on me so I always feel comfortable in myself. I like it. Smile

I did a massive wardrobe revamp last year and went to the John Lewis personal shopper. Didn't actually buy much from there but was really good to get some 'rules' about colours/style/fit etc and I've based all my new clothes on that. Just thought I'd mention it before your big new style splurge

RoastieToastieReastie · 18/08/2016 18:53

Hello, sorry I've been awol. I'm on transition week of 0p90x3 and I've been having to do double days as things have been too hectic to do workouts every day. Did CVS today (or whatever it's called). Took DD to London and when we got back I had to force myself to do it as I really wasn't in the mood. I slogged through it dripping in sweat and felt amazing at the end (the Shaun t feel good effect type of feeling) so was very glad I forced myself to press play. My core ached so much after isometrix and I was really sweating despite it being a workout of pretty much holding poses still. Didn't really think much of Pilates but could've been because I had a million and one interruptions in it (including some removal people to collect a wardrobe who said to me when I carried on doing the DVD whilst they were working 'do you do gymnastics every day?' Which made me laugh as the thought of me doing gymnastics is a funny one. I loved the pretzel move at the end of the workout though. And the donkey kicks in another of the DVDs were just impossible.

Purple I've often wondered about a John Lewis style person. I'd love to do that as I'm rubbish about things that suit me. Fwiw I've got the carrier bag tummy too! Infact, about a week ago I was doing the plank and looked at my lack of abs and it was awful. The excess skin hanging down but stuck up into my tummy around my tummy button and the side of my abs. I'm sure there's a slightly toned tummy under there somewhere but it'll never be found with the amount of excess skin I have :(

Boobz that is incredible news about the check up, must be a relief. Thought of you earlier as we were in London and saw a woman in fabulous workout gear dashing off and I was imagining her going to Barry's (although I have no idea whereabouts in London Barry's is).

Only I think in September I need longer workouts than half hour after a summer of 30 minute workouts. I was going to go to month three of p90x but I'm missing Shaun t so now I'm wondering about insanity again (I haven't done insanity several times a week for a couple of years). I miss Shaun t and I love to hate (or hate to love) insanity. I'm thinking maybe three insanity, one Cize (as my fun workout), and two weights workouts a week (although I'm not sure what weights ones to go for if only two a week as I can't do pump with injury) a week. I'm going to put 21 day fix on the Christmas list though. Let me know how we go and sad we won't be able to buddy up.

Thanks for the tip re Wardrobe shopper at JL - I really want to have the style of Olivia Palermo - might take a Pinterest board of her to show them.

Umbria is gorgeous - very hot at this time of year though - are you back yet?

She probably WAS going to Barry's Roastie - it's incredible how put together the women in there look before going in. I like my new gear, but I still look like I have rolled out of bed (which I usually have) when I go in, whereas everyone else has their hair done and some are even touching up make before they go in (yes really).

So today's celeb spot at the 6am Barry's: Guy Richie. Although he was mainly free-styling it in the weights area with a tattoo-ed man, rather than following the class. Which begs the question why you would bother coming to a Barry's class when you have your own private gym (I imagine) to muck about in, if you're not going to listen to the instructor...

I have now moved onto advanced speeds (they always do 3 speeds on the treadmills, beginner/intermediate/advanced), and both this class and last Friday's class I managed to hold the advanced speeds and sprints all the way through.

Still want to lose about 2kg though - the last bit off my thighs and back won't budge! I think I need to do Bikram yoga or something.

RoastieToastieReastie · 22/08/2016 08:52

Wow boobz to the advanced speeds. I wonder if guy Richie was susi G the class out before joining in. Surely he could afford to have his own gym and personal trainer so the only reason for going there would be to get the group atmosphere of a class you can't get one on on Hmm , or maybe he's doing a film where something to do with it has something like a Barry's boot amp or the type of person who goes there and sneakily looking at the behaviour of people for his writings .

OP posts:
RoastieToastieReastie · 22/08/2016 08:52

Sussing not susi g (who is susi g?!)

Purpleraindeer · 23/08/2016 08:19

Hi all! Still on hols. It's lovely. Haven't had 2 weeks off in ages - feels great.
Have been plugging away at max30 - doing the mth 2 work outs this week. Definitely noticed they're harder as was quite sore this am after max cardio. Am glad I'm working out a bit as I could swear I've lost definition in my abs in the 10 days I've been away - the pasta and bread diet obviously isn't working for me!! Might have to brace myself before getting on the scales when I get home....

Boobz you should get a discrete line into a gossip magazine given all your celeb spots.

Have a good day all

Purpleraindeer · 26/08/2016 10:38

I spelled discreet wrong Blush!

V quiet here. Hope you're all busy enjoying your holiday weekend.

Our last day on holiday today. Did max30 Friday fight 2 this am. I really recommend it for a v hard but short workout. Tired now....

RoastieToastieReastie · 26/08/2016 12:35

Hi purple, I'm here. We,l done for keeping it going on holiday. Day off here and busy week end ahead painting and decorating.

OP posts:
Boobz · 26/08/2016 18:55

Yes still here too. Life is so busy compared to Rome though so find it hard to find the time to post. House sale/purchase is coming along - still hoping to be in by end of September.

No Barry's today - no anything today as was too busy with work and have a friend coming around for supper tonight. Looking forward to the weekend - off to see Charlie and the Choc Factory with the kids tomorrow and then probably Brockwell Lido on Sunday if the weather holds.

Life is good.

EleanorAbernathy · 28/08/2016 00:19

Hi - I've not been on the thread as I've not been doing any Beachbody things the last few weeks (apart from the odd Shakeology!)
The Trinity plan seems to actually be working for me - I lost 3lbs in the first 2 weeks just by not eating crap! The second two weeks I'm just counting calories - I start of on 1840 but that drops gradually. I can reintroduce the wheat, dairy, sugar and alcohol if I like now if it fits in with the calories but so far I've only reintroduced the alcohol!

Next week is Contrast Week so I'm going to see if I can still do Insanity - would it be mad to go straight in with a Month 2 one after a break? I always preferred them! And I've been doing weights so should be OK with the strength bits.

In other news - I HAVE FINALLY FINISHED THE DECORATING!!!!! Building the furniture involved a LOT of swearing but I did it. I also shoulder pressed the new mattress up the stairs by myself. Photos are the before and after! :)

Drags self back onto thread having done Chalean burn 1 ...sorry everyone I have been mega lazy lately. Back on it again I have decided to restart Chalean but only the 3 weekly weight workouts, also going to do 2 shaun T workouts a week hopefully insanity max 30 but possibly throwing in the occasional Insanity, if all else fails then good ol' T25. I might look into pilates classes again or adult swimming lessons so 1 paid for thing a week ( I can only do the breast stroke with face above water).

Eleanor I think that may be the best before and after yet! Love your kitten snuggled up. Think I missed the trinity plan what is that?

Happy decorating Roastie!

Glad you are happy back in London Boobz, even if it does have the side effect of less chat!

Well done on pluggin away over hols purple....we were away last week and I managed a couple of jogs round the block and splashing in the pool but that's it Blush

RoastieToastieReastie · 28/08/2016 20:00

Wow Eleanor that is some transformation. I'm nearly finished on my bedroom transformation here after a week of decorating at the beginning of the holidays and three days graft now.

Did triometrics yesterday and my body felt like it was going through treacle, it was so hard and I have no idea why (pmt???) then today eccentric (or whatever it's called) lower and did pretty well. This week will be rubbish for workouts as back to work on Friday but will be starting longer workouts in the next couple of weeks again so hopefully will even out in the end.

Boobz glad time is going quick for you as it's usually better that way than too slowly!

Yumy well done getting back in it, that's the important thing.

Purple assume you're nowhere near the earthquake in Italy?

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 28/08/2016 20:48

Eleanor - that is some transformation! I love the image of shoulder pressing the mattress too. Glad the trinity programme is working for you - 1840 Cals sounds loads too - you must be doing some hard workouts. If you do insanity 2 next week perhaps we can be workout buddies as I feel like a change

Welcome back poppy - was wondering where you were. Good luck getting back into it - the first few days are the hardest. Am so glad you're doing max30 - I loved doing it on hols - they're such good workouts.

back from Italy now. Was about an hour from the earthquake which was quite sobering.

Despite a predominantly pasta/cheese/ice cream diet I managed to only put on 1kg. Result. After religiously not bothering to stretch pre or post workout the whole time I was on hols I ended up being super sore on sat. Served me right. My back was so tight i couldn't even bend down. Did pure cardio tonight juat so i could do the stretch bit. I felt like a robot who needed oiling! Anyway - got through the whole thing no breaks so was pleased with that Smile

Boobz · 29/08/2016 09:30

Bank Holiday Barry's here I come.

And then shopping spree - wooo!

Purpleraindeer · 29/08/2016 21:20

Hope you had fun at the shops boobz!

Question for everyone - do you know any really short stretch work outs. I'm still super stiff so ended up doing another insanity work out today purely so I could do the stretchy bit. would be very convenient if someone had a short standalone stretch work out (10mins or so?) I could do after a 'normal' work out

RoastieToastieReastie · 30/08/2016 06:44

On no purple! On the les mills pump set there's a stretch called 'flow' which from memory is around 10-15 minutes. Turbo fire have stretch 10 DVD which is about 10 minutes too.

Boobz did you get anything exciting on the shopping spree?

Was due to do incinerator p90x3 yesterday but last time it really hurt my injury so swapped it for the challenge and did over 330 push ups and pull ups (disclaimer, pull ups were with pull up assist and push ups were mainly with hands on the dining table as it's a modification for my arm injury). Speaking of arm injury, I'm now being referred to an elbow specialist as the physio is a bit stumped as to why she can't get rid of it. I haven't been able to do a proper push up without twinges or pain for over a year now and it completely makes me modify workouts which gets me so frustrated :(

OP posts:
yumyumpoppycat · 30/08/2016 17:28

Roastie I really admire that you have kept going despite injury and equally that you are modifiying even though it is frustrating Flowers

Purple I did a cool down for the first time in ages after reading your post...hope you are less stiff after a stretch.

Did insanitymax 30 cardio challege - 1 min in I knew I was in trouble, had to stop at 3 mins to have a wee and tie my shoelaces Blush
