Hi everyone Smile

roastie I guess the steroid injection can't make things worse can it? Part of my job is to manage injured people in relation to returning to work and have come across steroid injections several times - always seems to have positive outcomes IME.

Yum those powerblocks look amazing - have never seen anything like it but how fab for home use. Shame they are so expensive Confused

I am still chugging along with my schedule. Did Plyo fix yesterday and actually did all the burpees in it (still can't seem to do them in T25 workouts as I think they are just too fast Blush).

Had a swimsuit try-on session yesterday ready for packing for my holidays - am pleased with how they looked (not perfect by any stretch but I looked ok). In particular, one swimsuit which I bought a couple of years ago but it was a bit small when it came but so so gorgeous, I didn't want to send it back...it now fits Grin That was always my aim for this holiday and I am so chuffed I have achieved it.

I also wore a skirt for work on Friday which I haven't been able to wear for about 2 years Smile Would love to know how much weight I have lost since April but have no access to scales - I would like to think 2 stone but I think that might be a bit too generous. However, the NSV's keep coming thick and fast so I am happy.

On return from holiday, it is 3.5 months till Christmas so will continue doing what I am doing till then with the aim of being a size 12 by the end of the year - I know I can do it now Smile

Thank you all for your support Flowers

yumyumpoppycat · 07/08/2016 17:33

Only that is really an amazing victory with the swimsuit Grin plus if you are getting lots of compliments it is likely to be about 2 stone Star

I know it is a bit pricey Blush I was looking at the price to buy individual heavier weightsand decided powerblocks became ok value wise at £120, and there is a 10 year guarantee. I have a light set with plates you screw on and off and its a right faff. These are still a bit fiddly but not a total pita so it's possible to keep changing weight level during a workout and quicker to put away than lots of dumbells. I imagine I could sell them fairly easily too if needs be.

onlywhenyouleave · 07/08/2016 19:01

Yum I may talk to DH about the powerblocks and maybe get it as a joint Christmas present as we could both use them?

No compliments - absolutely no-one has noticed my weight loss apart from my hairdresser Blush however, I know and I can see and tell so that is enough although it would be good if just one person noticed Grin

yumyumpoppycat · 07/08/2016 19:19

I think sometimes people don't like to comment on weightloss, I know for a fact I lost 30lbs and most of my close friends didnt even mention it...the swimming costume now fitting is clear proof of proper weightloss Grin

I can roadtest the powerblocks, and knowing amazon it's worth keeping an eye on the price with lightning deals etc between now and christmas. Yes you could def both use them. There is a review from an 80 year old man who shares them with his wife, and works out with them 3x a week, that sealed it for me; that and the fact I saw them on fitness blender and am a punter.

Purpleraindeer · 07/08/2016 20:09

Yay only! Flowers what a great way to go into your holiday. You've had so many NSVs recently - burpees/press ups but I reckon feeling good in a swimsuit is the most satisfying of all! Bad really that that's true as I know we shouldn't care what others think of our appearance, but for me it definitely is - it's just liberating to not feel self conscious. 2stone could easily be right couldn't it given its since April. Poppy is def right - often people don't comment. I had people at my work saying months later that they'd noticed my weight loss but that they felt awkward saying it to me at the time.

Poppy - love the power blocks. I've been a bit Confused as to how they work but at £120 id agree they're good value. I've spent at least £50 on 2 sets of weights.

Feeling absolutely shattered after a hard days work outs. Did asylum plyo yesterday with dd (she loves jumping) and then today finally manned up and went out for a training ride on my road bike. I'd forgotten that it's a bit scary - they go so fast and you really feel it. I also found it hard concentrating on the road, pedalling, watching for cars, trying to work gears etc all at the same time. It was a lot harder mentally than Shaun t! Quite enjoyed it tho and all the insanity made it feel easy even at 17mph av speed! Was only out for 45 mins as was right before lunch so then did insanity core after lunch. Ds was whining and saying 'stop mummy' in the last 5mins and I was so knackered I was happy to! Will sleep well tonight. Smile

RoastieToastieReastie · 07/08/2016 20:49

Purple that does sound like a hard days workout!

Only well done on the nsv, they are ace and you are doing fantastically.

I had a dream last night that tony Horton was at a workout class I was at and I was really excited but no one else knew who he was or was impressed. I was just going over to talk to him when I woke up!

Yumy id love those. I'm at the point of wanting to go heavier sometimes than my max 5kg weights but I have some twist on ones like my barbell in the lift so I think I need to get them down and give them a try befor thinking about something of such expense.

P90x3 synergistics or whatever it's called. It's really growing on me. Yesterday was a rest day, and I had a total slob day. Aside from cooking and sewing sat in th garden barely doing anything. Can't remember when I was last so lazy!

OP posts:
onlywhenyouleave · 07/08/2016 21:04

purple I agree that, rightly or wrongly, looking OK in a swimsuit is the most satisfying Blush however, I know when I get on holiday I will feel fat again in comparison to others there (after all, I am a size 16!) so I am making the most of feeling confident before I get there Grin

I am going to go and do some investigation into these powerblocks...

purple well done on all that exercise, I am tired just reading it Wink

onlywhenyouleave · 07/08/2016 21:07

Cross post roastie have been looking at the p90x3 for September - what are they like? What are the cardio ones like?

Purpleraindeer · 08/08/2016 09:18

Cardio p90x3 are not as good as Shaun t ones - by good I mean both fun-ness and hard-ness. I think t25/max30 are better. Having said that I really enjoy cvx and also warrior (but that's got press ups etc so not just cardio). Roastie - what do you think of p90x3 now you've been at it a while?

Feeling very sore and tired this am. My bum is killing me from the bike seat. Blush supposed to be asylum strength later. Don't think I can face it when I think about it now, but might feel keener later.....

onlywhenyouleave · 08/08/2016 10:08

Thanks purple - what do others think about P90X3? Why is it so difficult to decide what to do next?? I love the hybrid that I have been doing since April as I enjoy all of the workouts but I know I have to change...but what if it isn't as enjoyable or work me as hard?

Going to shift up to Upper Fix Extreme tonight with DH - just checked it out and it doesn't seem to look harder than Upper Fix - just different moves. Famous last words I know Grin

See, The Extreme workouts are an option as I love Autumn but I watched the Dirty 30 Extreme and it has scared me Grin but I know I will not improve if I don't push myself....see so hard to know what to do!

Purple hope you find your mojo later today Smile

RoastieToastieReastie · 08/08/2016 12:50

Well I'm in week 3 of p90x3 now. I like it more than hc22 and think it's a more full program than hc but I agree with purple, I'd say t25 and insanity max are better short workout programmes. I'm using it as a stop gap for the summer holidays whilst I can't do longer ones with DD around to fit in daily workouts. The cardio isn't a patch on Shaun t cardio, but having said that I still work up a sweat (the workout which is cardio with weights I am dripping in sweat by the end, but then I've never done a workout like that before). I'd say it's best used knowing it has limitations or as a hybrid with something else, but then if you only have 30 minutes it's a good workout programme. I haven't done all of the workouts yet though.

I'm on a rest week next week but wondering whether to skip this and go straight to month two. I feel like I'm not as fit as I was and don't feel particularly energetic in the same way I do when I do more cardio based stuff so I'm looking forward to getting a new programme started in September when I can spend more time on it.

OP posts:
RoastieToastieReastie · 08/08/2016 12:51

I should add on p90x3 front there are alot of exercises which work multiple body parts, like hammer curls standing on one leg for balance, and if I hear Tony saying 'aging is for idiots' one more time I will not be held responsible for my actions!

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 08/08/2016 21:13

Yes I forgot to comment on Tony Horton's banter - it is quite a shock!

Only go for it with 21day fix extreme - it definitely won't be too easy. I did dirty 30 and it killed me Shock and made me super sore the next day - was v fast and cardio/weights combo is killer. I'd take max30 over that torture every day of the week... !

Well I limped through asylum strength - was pleased I toughed it out. Am really in need of my rest day tomorrow. I did go up a weight on some of the circuits which I was pleased with.

onlywhenyouleave · 08/08/2016 22:08

OK so I did Upper Fix Extreme...omg ShockShock there was a lot of swearing going on in my lounge by both me and DH Blush have a feeling that moving my arms tomorrow is going to be a challenge! It was so difficult Confused

Anyway, am going to try ABC Extreme tomorrow and see what that is like Grin

Boobz · 09/08/2016 12:27

Sorry to post and run - life is SOOOO hectic right now I find it hard to keep up with the thread and post etc.

Just came on to say we are now in a chain to move - wooo! But the paperwork is already piling up - where to find the time with a full time job, the kids AND exercising (and life in general...) Anyway hopefully we will be moving to our dream house in Brixton by November.

Yes am pretty addicted to Barry's - I went 6 out of 7 days last week!! Am booked in Mon - Weds this week - think I will then need to take a break as the cost is getting prohibitive - so will do some Insanity-ing Thurs - Sun I reckon.

Have also got my cancer check up in a few hours - fingers crossed results are good and nothing bursts my exercise/house bubble...

(no more Harry Styles spots...)

onlywhenyouleave · 10/08/2016 11:35

Morning all

Boobz hope your life settles down soon! did you get the results of your check yesterday?

Just wanted to share my NSV from today. I am wearing a skirt that hasn't fitted me for some time but I love it so refused to get rid of it Smile for some reason, I can remember one particular meeting that I wore it to so I have just checked the date and it was May 2013 and this is probably around the time that it started becoming a bit tight...so I must have got back down to a similar size as I was 3 years ago Smile

Did ABC Extreme this morning for the first time - I really enjoyed it. It focuses on legs and abs and I felt like it was a good workout (there were only 4 cardio 1-minute intervals in it in so more focused on weights). There is one 60-second interval where you have to hold a low squat with weights - sounds easy but god it hurt! And then you follow that immediately with 60 seconds of squat jumps when your legs are screaming in pain from the squat hold Grin Will definitely be doing that again!

EleanorAbernathy · 10/08/2016 11:41

Hi all, sorry I've been absent again! Last week I started with good intentons, I have my Shakeology that my friend sent me and signed up to a 5 day Shakeology challenge - you had to do certain things every day, like drink your Shakeology, do a workout, drink enough water etc.
Shakeology is very nice especially mixed with almong milk - it's thicker than the MyProtein shakes I normally use and seems more filling, I was having it for breakfast and it filled me up until lunch.

I was doing great - made it to the gym a few times and was eating well - then I woke up on Thursday completely unable to move my neck Sad

It got gradually more painful and I ended up getting DP to drive me to the walk-in centre on Saturday - I couldn't drive as I couldn't turn my head to look! I got lots of nice drugs which helped with the pain but then I still couldn't drive as I was high as a kite! Grin

It's just about better now - and I have signed up for the Train Eat Gain "Trinity" plan to sort out my squishy bits, I was looking for something that toned me up as well as the Body Coach but less restrictive on the food, and I'm hoping this may be it!

Hope the cancer check went well Boobz - and congrats on the swimsuit Only! :)

Purpleraindeer · 10/08/2016 22:04

Oh no Eleanor - glad the neck is better. Nice to see you back. Is the trinity program diet and exercise or is it just diet and you do your normal workouts?

Boobz - you have a Barry's addiction. Do you need a 12 step program?! Hope the docs went ok and the house stuff is progressing. I thought of you today - did game day work out from asylum. You'd like it given that you like max sports training. I actually really enjoyed it. Was a bit long tho (60mins) so was ready for it to finish when it did. I particularly enjoyed channelling my inner keanu reeves (point break) with the surfing move. Totally ridiculously difficult plyo push ups in rock climbing were grim tho.

Only - you've gone hardcore. Smile glad you're enjoying the extreme work outs.

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/08/2016 06:11

Boobz let us know how the check went, hope it's all good.

Only fabulous nsv there and that workout sounds great, I'll have to try it.

Eleanor do they know what happened to your neck? Interesting about shakeology, I've always wondered what it's like.

Had an enforced day off on Tuesday as woke up and had a weird fainty thing (I get occasionally, it's usually down to stress) so was out of action for the day for workouts. Did p90x3 yoga yesterday which was just what I needed after fainting thing. Today is th challenge so push ups and pull ups here I come! I'm noticing I feel less fit since doing p90x3 and am losing stomach definition. I'm looking forward to once I get back in a proper routine after the summer.

RoastieToastieReastie · 11/08/2016 07:24

Oh, just to add, I had my blood test last week. Remember I said a while ago I had hidden veins and it's always a nightmare having blood tests and I wondered if doing some weights would make my veins more obvious (they look a bit more obvious to me) and a blood test easier. I can report I had the best blood test ever, she got the vein quickly and took blood first time (sometimes it takes a while digging the needle around to find a vein) and didn't hurt at all, that's never happened before! So a bonus to doing weights.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 12/08/2016 07:29

Hi roastie - glad the blood test was better. You made me think of sly Stallone with all of those popping veins! I don't know whether you saw my question before - when you did asylum did you have the bands too? I don't and am relieved tbh but I know I should be wanting to make it harder Smile
I know what you mean re p90x3. I definitely lost cardio fitness when I did it exclusively. The best was when I did the strength cycle of p90x3 alternated with max30 so I got the best of both.

Did asylum plyo last night. Was a cheat really as was supposed to be strength (50mins) but I was short on time so did plyo as its only 40mins. Am not sure the 10min time benefit outweighed the terrible thrashing my legs suffered. Ow.

DoctoraNova · 12/08/2016 15:43

Hi everyone,

I've been trucking along with Insanity. I have had to take the odd day off here and there due to life getting in the way, but I'm really happy with my progress. Realistically, it's a huge time commitment and I find it hard to fit in without compromising family life too much. I've had heaps of compliments about how I've changed my figure, which is very motivating. I find it find the time, but as soon as I press play, wow, ShaunT is such a great motivator. Fit test improved, I can now do press up jacks! I've even done the odd spinning and Bodypump class here and there as well as cycling a lot. I notice a huge improvement in my tolerance for general exercise. I really wish I could do it everyday, but I can't. I'd say I do it five days of the week. One thing I find really irritating is that sometimes the videos don't work.

Anyways, enough about me. Boobz I hope you got good news at your medical review. Eleanor sounds like torticollis, which is self limited and usually passes in 3-4 days, although it can be very debilitating, and more painful than it looks. Antiinflammatories help, as do muscle relaxants (which is probably what made you a bit high). A hot bottle can also help to relax the muscle fibres and then do a bit of self massage. Only well done with your NSVs. Purple I'm in awe of your p90x3. Sounds very... extreme!

EleanorAbernathy · 13/08/2016 08:36

Doctor I've just looked that up and it does look familiar only my head didn't go to the side (it refused to!) The doc said the muscle had gone into spasm, and it hurt even more when he poked the offending muscle. Diazepam sorted it and I also had Naproxen and lots of codeine for the pain. It's happened before but not normally that bad.

Trinity is diet AND exercise, it's all weights and no cardio which will be very different for me, but weights do seem to help. The first two weeks you don't count calories or macros, you just have to cut out dairy, wheat, sugar and alcohol. I shall be having a massive G&T as a reward when the 2 weeks is up! (10 days to go! misses point )

So no beachbodying for me for a while however there is something called "contrast weeks" where I am hoping to fit in the odd Insanity!

My real workout will be next week as the new furnitue is being delivered for the bedroom and I have to build it!

RoastieToastieReastie · 13/08/2016 09:53

Morning, just done Cize full out. I really love the Cize workouts as I love routines and a bit of a brain workout, it goes so fast and I don't feel like I'm working out and I really enjoy it. Problem is I wish it was harder. The song at the end where you out the routine together is great but you do the routine stop for a while then do it again, stop, then do it again. I want to force myself to just go go go non stop but I need them doing it with me so I don't confuse the moves. Maybe I should email them to ask for Cize XL (great name I think!) for more of a full on workout. Shaun t is a really excellent teacher with the cheography (completely can't spell) so I got the whole routine straight away. I've only done one Cize workout before but this one was more sweat inducing (although maybe that's just because my cardio fitness has gone down with p90x3).

Purple I didn't add any extras to asylum, and I had to modify a fair amount even then. I didn't complete the programme as I got an injury and had to back off for a while and since then I've only really picked up speed and agility to sneak into my workouts as I think it's a really great workout and I enjoyed it the most (not quite sure enjoy is the right word). Think I find really annoying is my yellow ladder slides on my hard floor, it would be easier to do on carpet I think.

Eleanor that sounds really interesting. I'm gluten, sugar (apart from fresh fruit and a little dried fruit) and alcohol free as standard so let me know if you get any interesting recipes worth trying.

onlywhenyouleave · 13/08/2016 21:37

Evening

Did a double today as I missed yesterday's workout thanks to Andy Murray's match Grin

Did Pilates Fix and then Barre Legs which was a good combination.

Hope you are all having a good weekend Smile
