I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

You'll be on ab work outs for the next few days only! Well done for doing it. my DH did a long walk and he was totally broken after it too - must be something about the movement which makes you really sore. Did you get blisters?

Hope everyone enjoyed pure cardio. I did it tonight too, partly in solidarity, partly because I just fancied it. At this rate I will never find out whether I can do the whole thing no breaks as this time when I got to frog jumps I had to rescue ds as he had got stuck in the hedge! Toddlers are very silly.

I still need to man up and start asylum but I'm all full of excuses. My latest one is that I go on hols in 3 weeks so there's no point in starting it if I have to have a break half way. Hmm

DoctoraNova · 27/07/2016 09:38

I keep taking breaks because my sister is here on holidays and we keep going away for a night here and there with the six kids, but much as I would love to be to start in earnest and do the "challenge" I figure it's better than doing nothing, no?

My main reason for doing insanity is to get fit post-partum for my main sport which is kayaking. Lots of core strength, flexibility and endurance needed. Also, to get rid of my birthing thighs Blush.

If anyone has any good moves or programs for getting rid of love handles, I'd love to know.

Good luck everyone, I didn't do anything yesterday but am going to prioritise it today.

onlywhenyouleave · 27/07/2016 10:01

So I am aching slightly less than yesterday so going to try pilates fix now (it is all mat work so doesn't require legs Grin). Hopefully I can progress to arm work tomorrow...

yumyumpoppycat · 27/07/2016 13:52

Hi vdara and doctor!

Well done on marathon walk only Shock

Purple I cant wait for you to do asylum but can see some logic in waiting so you have a proper post hol challenge, esp if you are enjoying random workouts.

I have been a bit rubbish lately ...did a chalean today though, quite liked it but as I have been so off and on, and am also going on hols in a few weeks on I cant really proclaim if program is a success or not. I like that there are no pull ups Blush I am back on my diet mode too and prob 22 hc would be a better option but I like the slower pace of chalean extreme right now.

Hope everyone is having a great summer. We went glamping last week which was fun. Finding it tricky working in childcare, work and time with kids etc.

yumyumpoppycat · 27/07/2016 13:54

Wow Doctor .. I love the idea of having a sport, kayaking sounds great fun!

DoctoraNova · 27/07/2016 20:05

Whitewater kayaking is totally awesome. I love it. I makes me feel so happy.

Off to do cardio recovery now.

Purpleraindeer · 27/07/2016 21:12

Max30 Sweat intervals for me tonight. It's my nemesis. But I dug deep and it was less horrendous than normal. Distracted myself by admiring the casts workout gear and wondering whether I should buy some more lulu lemon work out shorts. I love them!

You picked an amazing week for glamping poppy. Hope you had fun. It is difficult to fit it all in. Every workout is a victory of planning and commitment as far as I'm concerned. Halo for all of us!!

onlywhenyouleave · 27/07/2016 21:41

Anyone planning on trying Country Heat??

Boobz · 28/07/2016 09:22

Happy belated birthday Eleanor

Welcome Doctor- Insanity is my favourite! Re slimming bum and thighs – dieting and Insanity are the ways it helped me, but they have always been my problem area and the last place to slim down. You’ve reminded me I still need to do my Fit Test again to try and beat Purple… but where to find the time. And welcome Vdara as well – I have been Insanity-ing (with a mini medical break last year) for about 2 years now – this thread has been going for 18 months! Can’t believe it.

Purple - we have an offer on our house! But it’s 50k below the asking price and they aren’t under offer themselves, but they are having a launch open day on Saturday so hopefully they will be under offer this time next week and then the chain will be complete! But because we have had to take 50k off ours, we will need to take 50k off the house we want to buy above us, and they haven’t said yes (or no) to that yet – they want to wait until we are proceedable until they discuss final price – so stressful! The whole house is being packed right now, DH leaves with the car and the dog tomorrow and then the 3 kids, me and the nanny leave on Saturday so we arrive at the same time as DH (it’s going to take 2 days and a night to drive from Rome to London…)

Roastie hope your holiday was good and your DD recovered, and your glamping too Yumyum

Only I never felt like I worked up a sweat with P90X3 vs original P90X so I know what you mean, but Purple got decent results from it I think.

So to my own working out news… I basically have been offline for most of July as I have either been in France for 10 days on holiday (eating far too much but did Insanity every day apart from one rest day due to humungous hangover), 4 days in London and Germany with work, and then a few days back in Rome before going to the UK for Secret Garden Party festival. I know this isn’t the right way to do things, but I basically stopped eating (a mini revisit of my German fast) for about 10 days in the lead up to the festival, but it really did work! I got down to 53.2kg which is the lightest I have been since pre-cancer days, and felt #sgpready (as my DH and had been saying!) See a couple of pics attached – I even went and did a Barry’s bootcamp on the day we left for the festival! The theme this year was Sci Fi so I went as Leeloo Dallas from The Fifth Element (and DH is Korben Dallas – you can google to see if we got the outfits right!)… and I was pretty pleased with how it turned out. We got back on Monday and I worked out yesterday but haven’t had time with packing to do any more. I will work out when they have gone today, and will do tomorrow, but then we fly early on Saturday so probs won’t work out again until Barry’s on Monday, when we are officially living back in the UK! Can’t wait! Back to work on Monday as well.

Sorry for massive update! Hopefully will be around a bit more again. Still aiming to get to 52kg before I spunk the money I have been saving for a new work/life wardrobe upon our return to the UK…

BRING IT!

yumyumpoppycat · 28/07/2016 19:00

Eek I just bought a powerblock set weights Weight Set: 1.5kg , 2.5kg, 4kg, 5.5kg, 7kg, 8kg, 9.5kg and 11kg Per Hand £122

Did core speed today which was fun but the dc were laughing at me!!

Only I think Roastie is planning on doing that workout.

Boobz really excellent news about house sales hopefully going through..your pics look amazing!

RoastieToastieReastie · 28/07/2016 20:40

Purple yes it was total synergistics. I'm nearly a week into p90x3 now. Yoga 3 varied from being absolutely impossible to being too quick to fully get everything from it. I did the push up and pull up workout yesterday and had to use pull up assist and a lot of modifying on push ups because of injury but I still did about 100 pull ups and 150 push ups. My shoulders ache today!did the warrior one today which I liked. I think purple is right, the more I get used to the moves the easier it will be to push myself and get the most from it. Agility X felt a bit like a poor relation of insanity asylums speed and agility (which is my favourite asylum workout but really hard).

Greetings vdara.

Oh my goodness boobz you look INCREDIBLE, look at that tiny waist with such nice definition Envy (although you work hard for it).

Yumy enjoy the new weights.

Only are you still aching after that long walk?

OP posts:
onlywhenyouleave · 28/07/2016 20:56

boobz you look amazing and your abs are totally awesome Envy Grin

roastie let me know what Country Heat is like? I cannot dance again all but I like Autumn so wondering whether I could try???

yumy what did you think of core speed? It is one of my faves that I always go back to if I need a cardio boost Smile

No, not aching now - can walk and get up and down from chairs again without wincing! Did Upper Fix today just to make sure my legs are OK. Going to do Dirty 30 tomorrow to get back on track Smile

yumyumpoppycat · 28/07/2016 21:11

Thanks Roastie!

Only I really liked core speed can see that being a similar one for me when I need a bit of cardio.

RoastieToastieReastie · 28/07/2016 21:15

Only, I'm only doing country heat if it's free online somewhere, I'm not paying for it! But would like to see if it's fun as an occasional. I can't imagine it'll be very popular in uk tbh and think it's maybe more suited to the us audience.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 28/07/2016 22:01

Country heat??! Nooooooooo

Good to see you back boobz. Life is hectic for you at the mo! Hope the house sale works out. Some friends of mine are having a similar experience at the mo. So stressful. Definitely do that fit test - with all those insanities you'll smash my scores. You also have a fab ab crack (yes, that is a thing apparently!)

Roastie - 100 chin ups/150 press ups. Wow. Awesome. I never managed more than 12 pull ups/15 push ups per round. I don't think agility x is that great either. Altho I like the one where you do the big jumps.

Did 22hc cardio 3 and resistance 2 today. Fun! I have no idea what spider crawls are supposed to be tho - they seem the same as bear crawls to me?

Glad you're feeling human again only! Smile

DoctoraNova · 29/07/2016 13:18

Amazing photos boobz. Great outfits too. I love that movie.

I thought insanity wasn't working my shoulders or my upper body much at all, but have some definite soreness between shoulder blades and in the backs of my arms today. Today is Plyometric Cardio for the second time, (day 6) am wondering when I'll start to see any results of my work.

Roastie am amazed at how many pull ups and push ups you can do. That's unreal. I still can't do real push ups.

So, where do ye all find time to work out?

Oh and Purple I love the Sweaty Betty gear.

MyBoysHaveDogsNames · 30/07/2016 14:19

Hi everyone

Wonder if you can help? I have skimmed this thread but have a question.

I am thinking of getting T25. Also, I have a barbell and kettle bells which I love. I used to have a trainer but he moved too far away from me to train at home. Which beach body dvds have kettle bells/barbells in them? I have looked at the website but there's a lot of information!

Thanks for any tips.

RoastieToastieReastie · 30/07/2016 18:24

Hi myboys. I love the body pump beach body workouts. I think they are now discontinued but you may be able to pick them up on eBay or there are some last time I looked on you tube ( look at the top three results here m.youtube.com/results?q=body%20pump%20les%20mills&sm=1 ). I haven't done any beach body workouts with kettle bells but I'm sure someone will advise in a min.

Did p90x3 cvs (or something like that). I think it was the toughest one so far. I hated it but really sweated and felt like I'd worked hard at the end. It's probably the most effective Tony Horton cardio workout I've done so far.

Please don't be amazed by my push ups and pull ups, they are in rounds so each time I manage 10-20 depending on the exercise and it adds up by the end.

Purple I'm the same with spider crawls, I never know if I'm doing it right and they seem like bear crawls to me too. I try to have more angular bent arms in spider crawls but no idea if this is right.

yumyumpoppycat · 30/07/2016 19:45

Fitness blender might be an option for kettlebell workouts? I do a kettlebell dvd but it might be too basic for you...Jillian michaels does one called shred it with weights.

Roastie I love cvx if thats the one, it uses light weights?

No workout but went swimming with the children, to be fair it wasnt really swimming more splashing but the water was cold ;)

yumyumpoppycat · 30/07/2016 19:49

My boys sorry, I think bodybeast and chisel and hammer beachbody workouts use barbells, I think some posters on here have tried them but I havent seen those posters on the thread for a while.

Purpleraindeer · 30/07/2016 20:32

I love cvx too! I found it really hard and was one of my p90x faves. Have you done mmx? I always liked that too which surprised me as I'm not that keen on martial arts stuff.

I googled spider crawls and you have to put your knee up to your elbow (like spider man). Def was doing it wrong.

So I finally manned up and did an asylum work out - speed and agility. Was strange as it was a work out which required skill as well as fitness. As it was the first time I spent a lot of time doing this face Confused and so didn't really manage to put in max effort but I still felt like my abs and shoulders got a work out so I'd have thought it would be pretty knackering if I did it properly. I have NO idea how it is possible to do those moves without touching the ladder. I spent a lot of time putting it back after I had kicked it. And the less said about my skipping the better.....

Will do another one tomorrow. Schedule says strength, but I thought I might see if there was a plyo one so I could get a proper sweat on

MyBoysHaveDogsNames · 30/07/2016 20:34

Thank you for the replies Roastie and Yumyum. I'll try T25 and also have a look at the recommendations. I can do weights by myself but tend to wander off half way through as I'm easily distracted! Need a routine and a shouty person.

Thanks for your help.

RoastieToastieReastie · 30/07/2016 20:43

It's cvx, sorry, yes. I haven't done the martial arts one yet, I shall look forward to that.

Myboys, yes, yumy is right, body beast does use a barbell too.

Purple insanity asylum speed and agility is my fave one (but very hard, I had to take multiple breaks even for the warm up). I got better with the ladder over time but I remember the first time doing it and not knowing what to expect it drove me mad how much I had to replace it but I did get better. I hated the progressive in out abs with the ladder. Last time I did that workout I wasn't as fit as before so I did it without the ladder and even then I managed to make it hard work.

Purpleraindeer · 31/07/2016 20:38

Hi myboys. Welcome Smile

Did asylum plyo tonight. That is my kind of workout. It was great! Shaun t is quite serious and shouty in it though - it doesn't feel as fun as insanity. I am so hopeless with that skipping rope tho. I stopped using it as when I did I kept tripping and getting irritated.

DoctoraNova · 31/07/2016 22:32

I'm on day 8 of insanity now and really loving it. It's brutal, but I feel great afterwards. It's better than a nap for energy, paradoxically.

Has anyone done any of the Spartan races? I think it looks like fun. I haven't run in years though, what with pregnancies and bfing, do you think I'd be able to run 5k after doing insanity???

Actually, I have another question about insanity: when you take tests, do you leave it running and just skip that bit, or do you pause it so that complete the entire workout??? What am I supposed to do? At the moment I pause it for about 30s if I need to, and sometimes I have to rewind because the choreography is still embarrassingly beyond me (that 1-2-3 thing, no idea).
