I hope you can find me! I went to post in the old thread but it had reached its limit.

Here's to an energetic, fit, healthy, and strong summer ahead.

eleanor happy birthday, hope you have had a fab day.

I would also like to know about Shakeology so let us know what they are like.

Well done everyone on the hot weather workouts - it is so much tougher in this heat Confused I did pilates fix this morning at 5.30 and sweated like a pig even then and it is a low impact workout Blush

Anyway little NSV - I held a plank for 60 seconds today Smile haven't been able to do that for a good couple of years since I let my fitness and weight slide. Was shaking like you would not believe but I did it (and yes I know most of you can probably hold plank for 30 minutes Grin)

Purpleraindeer · 19/07/2016 21:32

This hot weather is killer for workouts isn't it? Did cardio 1 and cardio 2 hc22 tonight. Sweaty!!

Well done on the plank only. That's excellent. I was advised the best way to lengthen the time you can hold them is to watch your iPad whilst you do it. You'll be holding them for a whole ep of breaking bad before you know it!

EleanorAbernathy · 19/07/2016 23:10

I'm glad today was a rest day - I'm not good in heat and was too hot to even do any painting! I DID get B&Q vouchers for my birthday and have spent them on Mumsnet Rated paint. Grin

Working out at home will probably still be out of the question tomorrow (bad memories of Insanity Pure Cardio last summer!) but I'll go to the gym between coats of paint if I can.

Hi, thanks for the warm welcome. How did you get insanity on the iPad Purple?
Am determined to start soon but can't find it online.

DoctoraNova · 21/07/2016 12:11

Also: what I can do to tone up big thighs and bum after pregnancy? I'm in good shape on top, but desperately want to slim down my bottom half. Will insanity help with that? Or do you recommend something else? I also cycle commute and am thinking about starting running soon (it's 42 degrees here at the moment Shock).

DoctoraNova · 21/07/2016 15:16

Ok, have done the Insanity Fit test! Am dripping sweat! Eh, the push up jacks were impossible so I just did plank jacks. But here are my results:

  1. 61
  2. 33
  3. 63
  4. 54
  5. 9
  6. 9
  7. -
  8. 24

I can do about five normal push-ups, having very recently graduated from modified knee-push-ups.

Am dripping sweat. I think I could have pushed harder though. It felt more like a strength workout than a cardio one. Hmm. Conclusion: am not very strong. I'm going to see if I can stick to the insanity program as much as possible, I hope l can fit it in around life, the kids etc. It is a priority, but comes after the kids!

To everyone doing workouts today, enjoy your moment to yourself. Dig deep!

Purpleraindeer · 21/07/2016 21:12

Well done on the fitness test doctor.

In case you didn't already find it, here is the link to all the insanities.

www.google.co.uk/search?q=insanity+rutube&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en-gb&client=safari

insanity is awesome for toning up thighs. You'll do more squats and tuck jumps than you can imagine. Beware the first workout will feel hard - even the warm up is tough. But it doesn't take long to get into the swing of it. It is a big time commitment, but totally worth it in terms of results and how great you'll feel about having done it.

Did max cardio conditioning tonight. And it was in my new lulu lemon workout clothes. I got a sports bra and shorts which are also for swimming. Two for one! Smile

DoctoraNova · 21/07/2016 22:32

Wowwwwww! Thank you so much!!! That's class. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm ready to work hard at this. I found a shock absorber sports bra in the market today and am delighted with myself, because I need one that opens and closes with a clasp or I actually need assistance to get my bra off after a workout (cos I really give it socks!). It was only a tenner because it has some snagged stitching at the front. Really happy. I also have some new Sweaty Betty workout shorts that I LOVE. I wear them a lot, read all the time.

onlywhenyouleave · 22/07/2016 09:45

Morning all

Doctor good luck with Insanity, I hope you enjoy it Smile I am not brave enough for that (and don't have the time for longer workouts)!

Not had the best of weeks for exercise but did manage Pyramid yesterday morning and Barre Legs this morning so hopefully back on track now.

Less than 4 weeks to go until holiday time - nowhere near my target as the weight loss is slower than I hoped for. However, I am focusing on the fact that I am losing weight/inches and that I am a dress size smaller than I was in April. Still not going to be a pretty sight in a swimming costume though Grin

Always knew this was going to be a long-haul weight loss journey and this was just part one Smile Part two starts in September and continues until Christmas Grin

DoctoraNova · 22/07/2016 10:36

Don't worry if it's slow only, the important thing is that you're on the way and going the right direction. Every little pound that goes is gone for ever! And every workout helps you keep burning even when you're not exercising because muscle burns more at a basal rate than fat does. Woop woop!

DoctoraNova · 22/07/2016 20:41

Just did insanity first circuit.

OMFG! How do people do that???? I was dropping so much sweat that my mat got slippy during the push up thing. Omfg.

I really enjoyed it though, I think I fell in love with shaunT a little bit Blush.

How're you all doing with your workouts?

Purpleraindeer · 23/07/2016 10:23

Was it pure cardio you did doctor? That's a hard one. Well done for getting through it. You feel fab at the end tho don't you?

Nothing for me last night but did max30 max out cardio this am. Wasn't really up for it but gritted my teeth and once I got thru the first 5mins I was glad I was doing it. Always the way. Enjoy the sunshine everyone

Purpleraindeer · 23/07/2016 10:26

Sorry forgot to say only - try to turn off your inner critic. I bet you look great in your swimsuit and look how fit you are - remember your plank victory. I had the same thought when I saw myself in a bikini and saw my loose skin on my tummy which is a bit grim. I then thought screw it - Im strong and fit and look so much better than I did and I should be proud of that.

RoastieToastieReastie · 23/07/2016 12:59

Just back from holiday a few mins ago. Managed four workouts whilst away although three were only quick 30 minute type ones but better than nothing. Unfortunately I'm now getting dds coldy bug she got whilst away so feeling a bit down and after driving non stop all morning from early I won't manage a workout today but think I'll start p90x2 tomorrow with the schedule until September when I resume p90x.

Doctor well done for pure cardio. I love that one but no way can I get through it without multiple breaks.

onlywhenyouleave · 23/07/2016 13:10

Welcome back roastie

No time for a workout today but will do speed one tomorrow.

I have stupidly agreed to do a 20 mile walk on Monday Confused. Me and a friend are going to drop the kids off at school, walk 10 miles, turn round and walk back in time to pick the kids up Grin not sure am going to manage it! It is madness isn't it??

Vdara27024 · 24/07/2016 13:53

Hi all,
After buying Insanity 2 years ago (& maybe managing a pathetic week or 2 before holidays) I have finally made decision to start it full 12 weeks before October break.......so proud I actually dragged myself out of bed and managed Plyometric Cardio Circuit (albeit the 3 section with loads of press ups etc was pretty pathetic, slipping all over the place) this morning!!!!!
Shaun T is truly amazing, I feel he is talking straight to me!!!! Hoping this thread will keep me motivated, is anyone just starting out?

Purpleraindeer · 24/07/2016 20:11

Welcome back from hols roastie. Hope it's not too much of a shock

Only - obv walking 20miles is mental but I'm sure you can do it. Good luck!

Welcome vdara - the first few are the hardest - it's a victory just getting started. You'll love it before you know it

Max 30 tabata power for me. Ow those diamond push ups are horrible! And now a delicious lean in 15 chicken, chorizo and mozzarella dinner. Yum.

RoastieToastieReastie · 24/07/2016 21:09

Only you can do it! Well, you'll have to do it or you won't be back for school pick up! I bet you'll feel so pleased when you've done it even if you're a bit worried now.

Vdara go for it! Insanity is fab. I did it about three years ago initially but I did my own 'light' version where I did it 3-4 times a week rather than the programme. At the time that felt like enough!

Started p90x3 today. In good news dreya didn't annoy me for the first time EVER (this is a big thing as I usually find her really annoying, I can only assume this was as she didn't really speak much and as she was modifier she wasn't showing off all the time). In bad news I feel like I didn't really work hard enough, it was too quick and because it was new I took a while to work out the moves. I found they involved so many body parts there's a lot of scope for easily getting form wrong and injuries. I'll continue on for a week or so but I may end out doing insanity max or a hybrid of the two over the summer.

OP posts:
Purpleraindeer · 25/07/2016 07:47

Was that total synergistics roastie? I found the same when I did it for the first time. I like it now as I've got the hang of the moves and it works me quite hard.

EleanorAbernathy · 25/07/2016 14:57

Hi everyone and welcome to Doctor and Vdara - Insanity is the best of the Beachbody workouts, I did the whole thing religiously last year. If either of you run, it really helped with my running too and made me go faster!

Good luck with the mental 20 mile walk only - I bet your legs are killing you.... It'll feel good when you're done though.

As for me - I've been totally crap. And have been eating everything in sight. So it's time to get HARDCORE and I have a plan!

Today I have planned nice healthy food all day - I'm at work until 10pm and have to stay up to acclimatise for my night shift tomorrow. So when I get home, I'm going to do a T25 (probably Speed 2.0) and on top of that II'm planning a whole week of the weights from month 2 of the Body Coach programme - starting with chest and back tonight, 10 sets of 10 on each.

Cardio at gym tomorrow, biceps and triceps on weights.

I am BANNED from the box of chocolate bars at work, and every time I fancy diving for the KitKats I am going to imagine myself working out and play "Eye Of The Tiger" in my head Grin Rocky Balboa would leave the KitKats alone!

DoctoraNova · 25/07/2016 19:10

Vdara, I'm just starting out. Did the test a few days ago, did the Plyo Cardio circuit and then went away kayaking for a few days. Am back now, totally exhausted.

We might be a couple of days out of sync, but we can def buddy up for motivation if you like?

Vdara27024 · 25/07/2016 21:49

Hi Doctoranova,

Defo would be delighted to be your Insanity buddy! I couldn't drag myself out of bed early this morning but was so impressed that rather than nibbling on kettle crisps once home, I got changed & popped on Cardio Power & Resistance!!! In my opinion the 10.5 minute initial "warm up" is the hardest....I literally pee my pants with jumping jacks & butt kicks!!!
Have you completed a full week? I am finding the press ups & floor work so difficult!!!!

DoctoraNova · 25/07/2016 22:34

Ahhhh! I just did the exact same day as you! Woop woop! I also find I have poor bladder control on some of ShaunT's moves. And some the jumpin around 1-2-3 things are chore graphically beyond me. As are most push-ups to be honest. But I just keep trying, it's better than doing nothing. I modify if possible or do a v small number perfectly. Am enjoying it. I sweat for a long time after. How come you're doing it?

Good luck tomorrow everyone, make it count!

Vdara27024 · 25/07/2016 23:43

Doc, I normally start Insanity in a panic 2-3 weeks before holidays then wish I'd started well before!
We are going on holiday during October break but more excitingly (is that a word?) I am having IVF in Czech Rep in Sept so thought 9 weeks of Shaun T would get my body fighting fit...& of course a 6 pack (like Tanya's!). How about you? Have you done it before?
Tomorrow is Pure Cardio and am dreading full 15 minutes without a water break...

onlywhenyouleave · 26/07/2016 10:23

Morning all Smile

Yay, 2 new BB buddies - welcome!

Well, I am broken today after yesterday. We managed somewhere between 18 and 19 miles before we had to stop and get a lift as we wouldn't have been back in time to pick the kids up Hmm It was so hard and I am now in so much pain Sad it really wasn't worth it!! The first 10 miles was good and I quite enjoyed it but the walk back was hell. Never again Grin

So, I am having a day off my schedule today and will pick it up again tomorrow with something that doesn't involve using my legs Wink
