I did my first C25K training 'run' last night and it nearly killed me Blush. My knees objected strongly but I ploughed on...sort of.

2nd run tomorrow - how do I survive it?

Just did my first run - Week 1 Run 1 - down by the river! DH came with me which made it less daunting. The hardest part really was getting off the couch and getting started... although I was feeling pretty ropey by the end Grin

AStreetcarNamedBob · 19/06/2016 18:17

Just done W3D1 it was a nice short run, only 16 mins of activity inbetween the warm up and cool down. I felt really good and the last section was meant to be 1.5 run and 1.5 walk and I just did 3min run instead!!

It's going well so far and I'm actually enjoying it (and yes i found W1D1 hard going!!)

MrsPatrickDempsey · 19/06/2016 23:05

Week 5 run 1 and my pelvis is broken. Ouch! Will be having a rest for at least a couple of days.

tropical1 · 19/06/2016 23:20

I've done w3 d1 this evening, the second three minute run was quite hard but we did it!
My blisters are healing up now which was causing me more pain than anything else 😭
We're still feeling very keen and have found out that there is a local park run so that is our aim !!

AStreetcarNamedBob · 20/06/2016 08:30

tropical I must be using a different app to you - I haven't had any 3 min sections yet and I did w3d1 yesterday.

The most I've had is 2.5 run but I think there is a 3 minute in w3d3 to look forward to Grin

2ManySweets · 20/06/2016 09:01

Arghhhhh, due to a combination of factors I'm behind now and will be taking W2 R3 into a third week now nrghggggghhhhh

tropical1 · 20/06/2016 12:30

I'm not sure what app I'm using Streetcar as its on my friends phone but it's definitely the same as the nhs one... I don't suppose it makes much difference in the end 😊

AStreetcarNamedBob · 20/06/2016 19:29

Oh yes, I'm sure they all end at the same place just felt bad saying I found w3d1 quite easy when other people might have found it harder if they had a different app that ramped up the pace quicker than mine!

Mine is called 5k runner I use it because someone told me other apps you can't play your own music you're stuck with what they choose for you!

Alohamora · 20/06/2016 19:32

I'm about to start week 4 and the pain in my wolfs is still ridiculous. My calf muscles still feel like rocks after about the second set of running and it feels as though I have mega cramp up the front of my shins.

It's crap really as my stamina is massively improved but the pain is ridiculous Sad.

Pain in my wolfs?! GrinGrin

Of course I meant calves!

Thedeepbluesea · 20/06/2016 19:38

Pain in my wolfs, i love it Grin i shall us it regularly after a run.

Im on w5r3. Although i have had 4 days off and am a bit worried about this 20min thing. Seems a bit of a jump from 8mins last run. Wish me luck!

Alohamora · 20/06/2016 19:40

Good luck Deepblue hope your wolfs aren't too painful afterwards Grin

QuickBringWine · 20/06/2016 20:08

Did w4 d1 tonight as it was raining yesterday and found it really hard!! The 5 minute runs really took it out of me!! Week 5 looks impossible to me right now!
Well done to everyone who's doing this though! If you'd told me a month ago that I could run for 5 minutes I'd have laughed at you so it must be working!! (Think I'll be hobbling at work tomorrow though!!)

Thedeepbluesea · 20/06/2016 20:26

Thanks alohamora. I survived, even my wolfs are intact, cant say the same for my hips, knees, shins and ankles!!! Currently resemble a watery tomato, a damned fine look Wink.

quickbringwine (a very apprpriate name right now) i really struggled with r1 of w2, but the 2nd and 3rd went much easier. If it any consolation. ... probably not.

Thedeepbluesea · 20/06/2016 20:26

That should have read w4, obviously!

QuickBringWine · 20/06/2016 21:30

Thanks Thedeepbluesea, that does make me feel better!! I don't think going out straight after a 9 hour shift at work really helped either!! Hopefully run 2 will be easier then, I'll report back in a couple of days!!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 20/06/2016 21:49

I had a worse one today. It was hot and the wind was against me and I should have taken water but didn't. Meh. Better next time, I hope.

Alohamora · 20/06/2016 22:36

I survived and managed to run 5 lampposts at a time!! Go me!

My wolfs didn't hurt either Wink

No wolf pain here either, but am trying to run with my labrador, and she can be a right pain, does that count?

Did Wk 2 Day 2 today, going well, though in order to keep on track, I may need to run two consecutive days this week. Lost yesterday to utterly crap weather and just couldn't quite bring myself.

Good though, feels like progress moving up to the 1.5 minute runs....

anonymousbird · 21/06/2016 14:06

My target is a 5k in the week of 8th August which is the week after my 8 week programme finishes..... no room for slacking or slipping!

tropical1 · 21/06/2016 18:15

I've registered with Park run today and suggested to my running friend that we maybe go after we finish week 5, am thinking we should be running 20 minutes by then and could walk a bit!!

anonymousbird · 22/06/2016 09:45

Completed wk 2.

Bring on wk 3! 2.5 miles covered today, as I added on an extra 1.5 mins run before the 5 min cool down.

I can see how this gets addictive!

Dog is EXHAUSTED as she is running with me in the day and with DH in the evening at the moment, she could barely keep up at the end of today.....

TwuntingCat · 22/06/2016 10:48

W2D1 for me today, the first 1.5 run nearly killed me! But by the last one I could already feel the difference so it must be working

anonymousbird · 22/06/2016 11:40

The first run is the hardest, getting those legs to loosen up a bit and get the rhythm going!

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 22/06/2016 11:48

I found my second and third harder because I was still aching from the first!
