I'm back after giving up Mumsnet for Lent - last seen on the Feb thread. Well done all for sticking with it, often in trying circumstances!

I've been quite good during Lent. I alternated Killer Abs and Yoga Inferno for a few weeks, and then last week I started Body Revolution. I'm cheating Body Rev slightly as you're supposed to do six sessions a week, four strength and two cardio. I'm doing five and skipping the second cardio. I tell myself it's because I'm biking 20-40 miles a week to and from work, but it's really just because I hate cardio. Phase 1 is actually quite easy, but I haven't dared look at phases 2 and 3 - it's a 90 day programme and I reckon I'll face them in May and June when I must.

polealltheway, I fit it in first thing in the morning, before anyone else is up and before I get ready for work. It's easier now the mornings are lighter: I really struggled in December and January when it was pitch dark outside. I like the idea of doing it in the evening, but realistically I just flop on the sofa by the time I get home from work and DS is in bed.

lilacclery · 06/04/2015 07:26

So did level one 30ds yesterday after not doing it since Tuesday I think I should probably count this as a fresh start.
Am awake since 6am with ds so think I might just get it out of the way now.

ImogenQuy · 06/04/2015 08:34

Body Rev Phase 1, week 2, workout 1 done. Would have been more effective if I hadn't had the cat winding round my legs for quite a lot of it, and then DS demanding porridge just as I started the last circuit.

TeaandCake91 · 06/04/2015 20:36

I've just done my first workout on level 1 and am lying on the floor feeling sick. I'm so so unfit! Please tell me it gets easier. I get bored really quickly and have no staying power but really want to stick with this.

lilacclery · 06/04/2015 20:44

tea today was my 4th time doing it in a week and it has definitely got easier not enough to move onto level 2 but I'm using heavier weights.

Today as I did the exercise like skiing I pulled back strong and got ds 17 months straight into forehead with the little dumbell Shock he's got a bump & I've felt guilty all day but he's fine.

TeaandCake91 · 06/04/2015 21:38

Oh lilac that made me smile. I have managed to get up off the floor now. How many times a week do you do the work out? Is it an every day thing?

ErrolTheDragon · 06/04/2015 22:26

Cats, toddlers .... oh dear. My dog usually stays safely on the sofa when I work out, if he's wandering around I'll chuck him out of the room if I'm doing anything with heavy weights. Guess you can't do that with small DCs!

Tea - the usual is to do shred 5 or 6 days a week, with one or two rest days. It really does get easier if you stick with it - the first 3-4 days you will ache but if you can push through that you should see and feel some changes pretty quickly. It's less than half an hour, much less boring than slogging away at the gym or whatever.

And the upside is that it makes life easier and more fun once you're fitter and stronger. I've done loads of gardening over the last 3 days - in the past I'd have been feeling stiff and tired but I really don't.

coalscuttle · 06/04/2015 22:46

I have been doing the kick boxing one and am really enjoying it! It's much faster and v energetic - I really feel like I've done something and not had time to get bored!

blodynmawr · 06/04/2015 23:00

Agree imogen the lighter mornings help. I'm another one that if I don't exercise first thing then unlikely I will get anything done.
I have decorated the kitchen and futility room today and don't feel too stiff! That means no JM though as DiY enough of a workout!

lilacclery · 07/04/2015 04:21

He tends to sit on my tummy when I'm doing ab work too! No Errol can't exactly kick him out. I started last week tea did it Mon & tues then didn't get around to it again until Sun & Mon again. I'm awake ahead of alarm this morning so debating doing it now because I won't get time tonight or tomorrow night

ImogenQuy · 07/04/2015 07:11

Body Rev phase 1, week 2, workout 2 done. Cat had the sense to stay out of the way this time as I was wielding 4 kg dumbbells! (lilac, I've also been known to clonk DS with a dumbbell as he picks just the wrong moment to wander past me).

TeaandCake91 · 07/04/2015 10:06

Day 2 check - and I didn't feel sick today. My house is empty except me so no one for me to injure with my water bottle weights

ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2015 11:41

Well done, tea! Smile

I did 5 sets of tabatas this morning. Got to decide which Jillian(s) to do next week or whether to carry on with what I've been doing thus far over the hols.

drspouse · 07/04/2015 16:42

L3 D3 finally! Going to have to think what I do next when I finish D30!

drspouse · 07/04/2015 16:47

Hmm... There's an Insanity class locally at 7.30 pm which might be doable. It says intermediate levels of fitness. I'm still a bit overweight though...

ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2015 17:05

Well done Dr. Why don't you phone and ask what they mean by 'intermediate'?

MagpieCursedTea · 07/04/2015 18:13

I'm still poorly, aching all over and completely exhausted Sad
It's going to be hard going to get started again when I'm better! We're off on holiday on Friday, hoping to take my JM DVDs with me.

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 07/04/2015 19:05

Oh, sorry you're poorly, magpie. Hope you're well in time for your hols and have a great and restorative time.

MsRaspberryJam · 07/04/2015 23:15

I got my five Jillian DVDs in the post today. I did level two of Yoga Inferno.

I can hardly walk. But I laughed lots during it.

Well done to all new people starting the Shred. The first few are the hardest ever, so you should feel really proud for making yourself do it.

MsRaspberryJam · 07/04/2015 23:16

Get well soon, Magpie!

ImogenQuy · 08/04/2015 07:12

Hope you feel better in time for your holiday, Magpie.

Body Rev phase 1 week 2, cardio done. Dear God, how I hate cardio. I don't want to think about what the phase 2 and 3 cardio DVDs have in store for me. I've also put the rubbish out for the bin men and changed the cat litter, so it's been a moderately useful morning so far - all downhill from here once I go to work!

drspouse, if you wanted another DVD have you tried Ripped in 30? It's very similar in format to the Shred but levels 2 to 4 are a bit harder than Shred (I think, anyway). Level 1 eases you into it relatively gently.

TeaandCake91 · 08/04/2015 08:32

Day 3 - check! No matter that I can barely walk! I should get day 4 and 5 in before I go on holiday but I don't think our caravan will be up to my jump rope and then I'm back to work so it could be about to fall apart for me. Must stick with it! Have a good day everyone

polealltheway · 08/04/2015 09:09

So over the Easter break I did a dd everyday, yesterday I didn't do anything as I was at work I will do something today but I don't feel like it!

I think it will have to be an early mornings me too but then feel like I might not have enough energy Hmm

I have got done tablets full of caffeine that give me energy but they also seem to make me moody, any other ideas for energy first thing? I don't drink coffee

polealltheway · 08/04/2015 09:11

MsRas - I have the five pack too! Have you tired hard body yet? I did it a couple of days ago, circuit one isn't too bad then just when you are completely knackard you have to do it all again!

I might try yoga inferno today

Lambzig · 08/04/2015 09:29

Hello, can I join (rejoin?) please? I was on the precursor to this thread last year and worked my way through 30DS, RI30 and got halfway through Body Rev before failing badly. So helpful to record it all here.

I have a stone to lose and need a real tone up. I have been reading Eat, Nourish, Glow so have just started trying to improve how I eat with some baby steps on that. So far I have swapped milk for almond milk, do 12 hours overnight fast and eat at least 10 portions of veg a day.

So today I started Body Rev again and really want to finish it this time. I am not going to beat myself up if I only manage it twice a week, but aim for four or five. Last time I got derailed by the school run, my 18 month old (now 2 and a half) and thinking if I could only do it twice this week then I might as well give up.

So, Body Rev, Phase 1, week 1, workout 1, first time. Not too grim.
