Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

30 day shred put me in hospital with a slipped disc after a few weeks of doing it.

Am I going to end up in hospital if I try this one? Is it high impact star jumps, etc? I think it was the jumping about on 30 day shred that did for me.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 18:15

I haven't done any jumping.

You can choose your workout, so you could just do the dynamic stretches and abs, if you're worried.

The fat burner workout involves sidesteps and punches, lunges, squats with a weight and some running on the spot. No jumping.

But if you're worried, take the advice of your GP, maybe?

I'll give it a whirl. I can normally tell fairly quickly if it's going to bugger my back.

I've learnt to listen to the funny niggle rather than ignoring it for weeks in end and carrying on like I used to!

Ok catching breath and sweating I've just finished the warm up and fat burner. Davina is well behaved no silly faces no WOOO just lets Ed do the slightly camp moves.

Easy and to do 10 mins start to finish. I am more than glowing, this will be easy to maintain!

PrimalLass · 15/02/2015 18:52

I love Shred but have ended up with back problems after it too. I can't do anything plank-related.

I'm willing to give it a go. Am way out of shape. Really need to lose some weight, too.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 19:11

Well, RestOf, I know what you mean about the annoying intro.

I've started to just leave the dvd in the machine so I'm not starting from scratch every time.

If I do have to start from scratch, I put it on, then go and get changed, grab my tuna, etc. By the time I'm ready to start the disclaimer has shut up finished.

Go for it, expat!

I'm a size 22. I've got a fitbit and have just started trying to get some walking in. Do you think I would be alright trying this, just stopping if I can't do it and then going back to it, so I do a wee bit more each time? That's what I'm doing with the walking, it's slow, but it started with once round the block every couple of hours and now it's twice.

Quiero · 15/02/2015 19:38

I was inspired after reading this thread this morning so got it off iTunes.

I did the fat burner, ultimate fat burner and abs and my legs are now aching!!

It's great, like you said Stevie just as you think you can't do any more it ends. My aim will be to do at least the fat burner every day as a minimum with ideally two others. Maybe alternating legs and abs in case I become unable to walk Grin

Dawndonna I think you'd be fine. Just do as much or as little as you can. The trainer says it's fine to stop and join back in if you find it hard. I've got a fitbit too and it's made a real difference to how much I'm moving.

AriNi31 · 15/02/2015 20:01

Ooh I feel inspired reading this thread. I am going to buy it too! I definitely need to lose weight and hopefully feel better about myself too! Not so'D'H decided he wanted a separation / divorce on New Years Day. Totally unexpected so i went through a phase of not eating and a phase of everything chocolate. This could be a good focus for me. Tho I haven't really exercised in years!!!

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 20:07

Glad you liked it, Quiero. I do at least the fat burner every day, but tomorrow I'm going to step it up and try the ultimate. I'm definitely going to do abs every day too, because the stomach really is my problem area.

Dawndonna - sounds like you're well on the way. Well done! I've gone into this thinking that doing anything is better than doing nothing at all, and I bet it's amazing how quickly we'll get fitter.

AriNi31 I'm sorry you had such a shocking start to the year. This will be a positive thing, won't it? Doing some exercise has definitely lifted my mood, and it's a way of looking after yourself. More power to you.

Well, I went to my dad's this afternoon. he's been clearing out years and years worth of rubbish and, just as I wandered past a pile of old crap, I saw two shiny little weights glimmering at me that belonged to my mum about ten years ago. If that wasn't a nudge to get on with it I don't know what is (obviously took them).

TheOnlyOliviaMumsnet · 15/02/2015 20:54

@chillychicken

I was meant to have won this DVD through her mumsnet webchar. The sugar free book has been delivered but not the DVD and I don't feel I can chase it up. :(

Let's see what we can find out for you chilly. Never be afraid to chase anything up - we is only human at hq and never mind a poke about things like this Smile

That'll teach me to try and be funny.... What I'll say instead is, i've just bought this DVD off the back of the thread - looking forward to seeing if it shifts my post DC x 2 and ELCS overhang Smile

FlossieTreadlight · 15/02/2015 21:08

FFS - I can only see a blank post from me. Dullard that I am.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 21:11

You'll do great, Flossie. Let us know how you get on!
