Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Unidentifieditem, it's just not right for you. For people who are starting out, for people who want to combine different things, for people who are looking for something to fit in with their lifestyle and other hobbies it's fine.

And of course she didn't get those abs from 7 min workouts. She's been working out for 11 years, eats a good diet and is also keen on running. She advocates combining the 7 Minute Fit with running actually and her PT has info on his FB/Twitter on how to do this.

I have done the Shred (3 times in fact) and I don't even get out of breath. I have to do 2 or 3 levels back to back or do the Shred and go for a run. But that's not because the Shred isn't very good, it's because I am me and I know what I need. I still do the Shred sometimes because it's there and it works in combination for me at this stage in my life. I much prefer some of her other DVDs. I wouldn't go on a thread about the Shred and say 'it's not very good, is it?' if I tried it today for the first time. I'd recognise that it wasn't right for me in isolation.

Showy · 15/02/2015 15:44

A better way to do it btw is to do it in combinations, not all the way through. So do Ultimate Fat Burner then abs, then Ultimate Fat Burner, then advanced abs, then Ultimate Fat Burner. It's a bloody good workout if you listen to Ed and Davina's advice about how to combine them effectively. It's not really designed to do it the way you did it (though I have done this just out of curiosity, yesterday in fact).

Showy · 15/02/2015 15:46

Not having a go btw. It's fine that you don't like it. Thank heavens for difference. Just a bit demoralising for people who are finding it challenging to hear you say that it's not very good in sweeping generalisations. It's not right for you in isolation or in the way you did it. That's fine.

LazyRohazy · 15/02/2015 15:52

Right. I've bought it. I'm terrified, but I've bought it. I'm at the beginning of the long process of needing to lose a lot of weight (I'm size 24) and I'm getting a grip on my eating. I need to start exercising too, and even I can manage 10 mins a day. Wish me luck...

Showy · 15/02/2015 15:57

Good luck and well done. You're on your way. Stay on this thread and use the FB/Twitter resources. Really good support will make such a difference. I think you're awesome for making the first step.

LazyRohazy · 15/02/2015 16:09

Thanks Showy! God, your message actually made me tear up! Onwards.

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 16:28

Good luck Lazy

I just bought this on iTunes! Shock

I am going on holiday in August. My 70 year old mum and 15 year old dd are both much slimmer than me.

I don't want to ruin my first holiday abroad in years by being self conscious about my weight!

I've lost a stone through better eating but it's taken about 9 months. Hopefully this will get me moving again.

MargotLovedTom · 15/02/2015 16:46

Thanks for your encouragement Stevie and Showy. I will combine the UFB section with another one tomorrow. Your advice is very helpful.

I'm feeling very positive that I came home, unwrapped the DVD and got on with it, rather than putting it on a shelf to do "tomorrow".

LazyRohazy · 15/02/2015 16:56

Ha! Yes, I will, won't I?

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 17:02

Right, I'm going for Ultimate Fat Burner tomorrow - wish me luck.

What about Amazey Rohazy,, Lazy?

Eeek- I've just bought it too! Thought about it last week but this thread had made up my mind! Ordered a resistance band too to try and firm up the old bingo wings before summer, will update how I get on????

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 17:04

Well done, Smelly!

We're all going to be goooorgeous this summer!

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 17:20

How'd you get on, Victrix?

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 17:20

Or are you the artist formerly known as lazy?

OP posts:
Victrix · 15/02/2015 17:33

I am lazy but not Lazy Grin

Good workout. Dodgy leg didn't play up either so good times!

chillychicken · 15/02/2015 17:36

I was meant to have won this DVD through her mumsnet webchar. The sugar free book has been delivered but not the DVD and I don't feel I can chase it up. :(

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 17:47

Well done, Victrix.

What did you do?

OP posts:
Unidentifieditem · 15/02/2015 17:53

Actually no, my review was of the content not of how it made me feel. Ab workout was 5 reverse crunches, 5 crunches, 5 double and then plank. Repeated in sequence til the 7 minutes ended. So while you say the workout wasn't for me, my issue was more with how dull it was rather than the energy required or fitness level assumed. Having done DVDs from zero fitness (awful broken bones) I know how satisfying a mere 7min workout can be, and how proud it can make me. I also know I've paid £12 for old rope.

LazyRohazy · 15/02/2015 17:58

UnLazyRohazy? Although I must say that AmazeyRohazy has a certain ring... Grin

HelenaVagBasket · 15/02/2015 18:01

Ok I have been looking at this for a while and you have convinced me to buy it. I am doing the 5:2 diet and don't have much to lose now but need to tone. I just hope that Davina doesn't irritate me too much Grin

DiscoDancer · 15/02/2015 18:03

Marking place to buy dvd later!

HungryHorace · 15/02/2015 18:04

I'm clearly susceptible to suggestion as I've bought it from iTunes too!

I'm hoping my post-2 c section belly will improve as it's not a pretty sight!

stevienickstophat · 15/02/2015 18:05

Davina's cool on it.

Unidentified, I'm sorry you didn't like it.

We're all trying to support each other on here, though - it's become a bit of a cheering each other on thread, and I don't know about anyone else, but hearing that it's a shit DVD is going to make me wobble.

I don't wanna wobble. I already wobble - and this DVD might just help me stop.

Please stop harshing my mellow Grin
