Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Yep, off to do another session!

Onwards and upwards!

That all sounds so positive, Peace. Keep going!

I've not done any exercise this morning, I might do some later or I might not, it depends how I feel.

Anyway, I don't personally think I've seen any difference as yet, but when I was laid on my front in bed, it kind of felt like my stomach was a bit flatter. I also think I'm sitting and standing a bit straighter, which would equate to having a stronger core.

HemanOrSheRa · 08/03/2015 09:45

Now look 'ere. I haven't lost any weight but muscle weighs heavier than fat, remember stevie Wink.

Positives from me:
My back fat is definitely disappearing. I was having a good old look in the mirror yesterday (as you do) the roll of fat I would get when I twisted round to look at my back is much reduced. It's the bit that hangs over the back of your bra strap IYSWIM. Anyway, it is disappearing.

I can now pull in my tummy muscles. I know where they are now Smile. My second tummy just below my boobs between my proper tummy is flatter.

My posture is better because my muscles are stronger.

I think my bum is lifted a bit. Not smaller but slightly more pert.

I feel good about myself for actually sticking to it and enjoying it. This alone is a great confidence boost.

Back fat, second tummy and saggy arse Confused. I'm quite the catch, aren't I?

anniepanniepears · 08/03/2015 09:53

weighed my self this morning haven't lost anything..but I can see and feel the difference
my clothes fit better as well ..so that is good enough for me
still feel motivated and full of energy
keep up the good work everyone
so glad I found out about this dvd

stevienickstophat · 08/03/2015 09:55

That was a great post until the last sentence, HeMan [stern]

Strong muscles, good posture, pert bum, confident.

Yes, you are a catch Smile

Does Davina do a fitness test to measure improvement? If you want to measure improvement over time, or how well you are maintaining your fitness levels over the years, this can be a helpful way of doing it. It is the kind of think firefighters and non combative police/army have to do!

fitness test

I'm going to have a go! Grin

HemanOrSheRa · 08/03/2015 10:24

Grin stevie

I have just googled 'weight gain after exercise' as Amazon suggested. I can't do links, I'm on my phone. But....it's normal!!! Huzzah! And I've discovered why the tops of my thighs look fatter. Increased muscle mass pushes adipose fat to the surface giving the appearance of increased fat. Yay!

stevienickstophat · 08/03/2015 10:29

That's great Heman

Just shows how susceptible we can be to setbacks.

Well, fuck it! We can do this, people!

I've just done warm up, fat burn, ultimate fat burn, abs and I'm about to finish off with some lovely stretches. It's the most I've ever done, and I feel great.

So, fuck you, scales! Fuck you right up the bum Grin

I MANAGED TO GET MY BUM OFF MY HEELS!

Heman, that's me too!! My thighs looked bigger, so I'm presuming my muscles are kicking fats ass and pretty soon fat will be banished! Grin I've been mainly concentrating on the leg sessions! I was however looking at myself under 100watt lightbulb conditions, harsh! I've just done the Fitness Challenge and Box Fit, will do legs again in the morning! Be gone fat!

AmazonGrace · 08/03/2015 11:05

Stevie, I couldn't agree more, which is why I don't own any scales, only ever weigh myself at my mums house when I visit.

Flipping the bird at Stevie's scales Grin

AmazonGrace · 08/03/2015 11:06

Oh and a big well done on all those sessions! We can fucking DO IT!!

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/03/2015 11:29

I just ran a mile in 7 minutes 47! (Which included stopping for roads/lights 5 times!

I did walk back wishing Id bought bacon in the shop at the end of the road.

stevienickstophat · 08/03/2015 11:47

That's impressive, Peace!

Yeah, scales

Fat be gone!

I just noticed a distinct lack of general padding while in the shower. There is just less fat, I'm sure of it.

OP posts:
IAmAPaleontologist · 08/03/2015 11:58

I've started!

I bought it ages ago but stuff, things, flue, chicken pox, assessments and blah.

But today I opened the packet and I did ultimate fat burner which is indeed a good warm up, then I did abs, tone and sculpt and stretches to finish.

I need to keep playing around to find good combinations and I need a kick up the bum to get back out the door running.

I can see abs becoming a frequent thing as that is a problem area for me. I need to go through the tutorial and practice a bit as it is tricky. Will be nice though if I can get int he habit of doing targeted stuff on core strength every other day and running in between.

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/03/2015 12:25

It's been my first run for months because of cold and wet weather, and I've hardly ever run a whole mile without rest stops. I did fall into a resting walk at one point, but told myself loudly to 'come ON' which earned me a big grin and thumbs up from a young boy who was casually running the other way to his football practice! Blush

HemanOrSheRa · 08/03/2015 12:39

Well done Peace! 7 miles is bloody amazing! I did the C25K ages ago but didn't keep it up. I am a great procrastinator when it comes to exercise. However.....

I have just done: fat burner, tone and scuplt, legs, abs and stretch. Jeez it was tough! I feel good though.

DP has taken DS out so I thought I'd go for it today while I've got more time. I found it hard to keep my balance doing the leg lunges today for some reason. So I balanced myself resting a couple of fingers on a dining chair. That's not cheating is it? Hmm. I got my leg right back and my knee down. Really felt it in the thigh of my bent leg. I came over a but unnecessary it was so hard!

If you find Ed's facebook page IAm he gives loads of combinations you can do. I think someone may have posted something earlier on from his twitter feed.

HemanOrSheRa · 08/03/2015 12:43

It was velmadinkly at 18.34 yesterday! Grin

MrsMcGregor · 08/03/2015 14:37

Can I join please? Have just downloaded from iTunes and have done the warmup and fat burner. My legs are like jelly and I'm puffing and panting but it's a start. Am so so unfit.

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/03/2015 15:02

EEK! Heman 7 miles would be inadvisable with my body! I did one mile in 7 minutes 47 seconds! This is impressive forme. I am no Roger Bannister!

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/03/2015 15:16

Welcome MrsMcGregor and any other newbies! Grin

Heman I think form is really important, and any instructor will advise you to use furniture to support yourself and keep your balance, it is not cheating, it is a must and a serious safety point. Grin

currentnameinuse · 08/03/2015 15:41

I had a break for a few days - only managed fat burner and half of the legs workout and am done in!

HemanOrSheRa · 08/03/2015 15:47

Oh! Ha! Blush I got overexcited on your behalf Peace! Still excellent speed though. It takes me a good 45 mins to run (using the word loosely) 5k. That's about 15 mins a mile Grin.

Hi MrsMcGregor! Don't worry it does get easier very quickly. I was almost sobbing when I did the legs section earlier on today. It's just as well I was on my own. I was shrieking and groaning and shouting 'I can't do it. Arrrrggghhhh!!!' And then it was over and I had, in fact, done it.

I think I may need to buy a set of heavier weights. I'm using 1kg at the moment and the sculpt and tone was much easier today. Maybe too easy Hmm. I may get some 2kg ones.

We are going to be soooo fit, toned and annoyingly healthy looking for the summer!

AmazonGrace · 08/03/2015 15:55

I'm using 3kg weights (hardcore) which Dp found for me in his shed of dread Grin Only used one so far for the sessions I've been doing so lifted one with the squats etc. Don't know how I'll manage when I've got to use both Confused
