Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Only managed a couple of sessions this week. Migraine kinda floored me for a few days. Still been to fat club and lost 1lb:)

HemanOrSheRa · 06/03/2015 14:44

I've got it on google play too Pete. I did order it from Amazon but cancelled it when someone upthread mentioned you could get it on google play. It's great! I did my exercise last night while watching the news. No excuses now!

I haven't lost any weight. But something is happening! My arms are definitely toning up, I can pull my tummy muscles in (now I know where they are Confused) and my bum is firmer and lifted a teeny bit. My bra strap is looser too so my back fat must be going. Is it possible to tone up and lose fatty bits without actually losing weight? Hmm

HemanOrSheRa · 06/03/2015 14:45

I love the tone and sculpt too Plumping Smile

stevienickstophat · 06/03/2015 15:51

I think so, HeMan - apparently muscle is heavier than fat, so if you're building up muscle, you may not lose weight.

All your little differences sound positive!

OP posts:
HemanOrSheRa · 06/03/2015 16:19

I'll take that as a true fact, thank you very much stevie!

Oh! I forgot to say. I can actually do press ups now too! Amazing! When I did the tone and sculpt last night I did all bar one of them. Huzzah!

I was thinking last night after doing my workout - The great thing about the 7 minute sections are that I can just do 1 if I like and don't feel like I've failed. I have actually completed a 'whole thing' iyswim. Which then kind of spurs me on to do another couple of sections anyway. Never had this with a home exercise programme before. I'm 42 so have tried a few Blush.

velmadinkly · 07/03/2015 07:48

Heman me too. I again woke this morning and didn't really want to do it, but I had a good talking to myself and decided that I would do warm up and one section. I ended up doing warm up, tone and burn, fitness challenge thing, abs and some stretch. I just need to sort my evening snacking out now and I should hopefully then lose some weight also.

I like the fact that the abs section has a bit of a pelvic floor workout in it, it's like killing 2 birds with one stone.

Trenzalor · 07/03/2015 08:32

How much jumping around is there in the Davina 7m workout? I feel sorry for the flat below when o do the 30 day shred...

stevienickstophat · 07/03/2015 08:54

Warm up and fat burner done - will try to fit in abs and stretch later as I ran out of time.

OP posts:
stevienickstophat · 07/03/2015 08:55

Trenzalor - there's some running on the spot, but no jumping afaik.

OP posts:
HemanOrSheRa · 07/03/2015 09:00

No where near as much as the shred Trenzalor. There is a bit of running on the spot in the fat burner but it is just for a few seconds a few times. And side steps which in my case is more of a elephant halumph. I guess it depends on how light on your feet you are!

There's one exercise in the legs section where you do three squats and then jump. There's a bit of side stepping/shuffling about in the boxfit. I think there is a bit of jumping about in the tone and burn. But I found that one tough so have blanked it from my mind. None in the Abs or stretch sections.

Definitely no star jumps, pretend skipping or kicking yourself in the butt Grin.

AmazonGrace · 07/03/2015 10:43

After looking at my body in a full length mirror under harsh lights last night I need to step up my game and work harder on my legs. My thighs look bloody awful, if they become more toned then the cellulite might look less obvious!

Will hopefully get to do a couple of sessions today.

stevienickstophat · 07/03/2015 12:04

I've had a setback.

Made the mistake of getting on the scales.

Am at my heaviest. Ever.

Don't know how this happened. Have given up alcohol, wheat, all gluten in fact, and am exercising.

It's not fair Hmm

PeaceOfWildThings · 07/03/2015 12:35

I did the same earlier in the week, stevie! I've put on 5-6 pounds since before half term. But weight is not what matters, it is strength (to avoid the ankle sprains and other aches I keep getting) balance, and stamina and how clothes fit that matter. Plus all the little differences. I think my middle, bum and thighs are a little less flabby, and my legs do feel firmer and stronger.

I always am much heavier before my period, as well, and I find drinking so much extra water does add (water) weight.

stevienickstophat · 07/03/2015 12:37

Hmm. It is my period...

OP posts:
AmazonGrace · 07/03/2015 17:12

Weighed myself today at my Mums and I'm at my heaviest too. How can this be Hmm Perhaps our muscle increase or toning or whatever is heavier than the fat

AmazonGrace · 07/03/2015 17:14

Mind you, it could also be because I've troffed quite a bit over winter and these past few weeks I've thought because I'm excersising I can eat more Blush not going to happen is it!

velmadinkly · 07/03/2015 18:34

I've also gained a few pounds, I don't know if its due to doing the dvd or the fact I'm a glutton with the hot cross buns Blush

Anyway, I looked on Eds twitter feed and found a link to his facebook page that has some recommended routines. I don't 'do' twitter or facebook, I was looking to see what twitter was all abiut and I thought his feed would be useful to look at. Anyway, here are the recommended routines, hopefully the text is big enough to read.

Let's not be deterred, though. I still feel way better.

OP posts:
stevienickstophat · 07/03/2015 18:40

The thing is, in the last month I've given up alcohol and started this regime.

For the past year I've not been eating wheat or any gluten.

And I've still gained weight. It's not fair Hmm

OP posts:
stevienickstophat · 08/03/2015 09:08

Right, it's time for an apology.

I've started a negative train of thought on this very positive thread, and it's not good for us.

So what if a set of arbitrary numbers tell us one thing we don't like?

This programme has been nothing but positive for me.

My knee doesn't hurt.
I'm stronger.
I have more energy.
My muscles have firmed.
My mood has improved.

Weight schmeight. I'm loving this and I'm keeping it up!

As you were...

OP posts:
HelenaVagBasket · 08/03/2015 09:14

I wouldn't worry about the numbers too much. I have only lost another 2lbs since doing the dvd but I can see my shape is changing, my bum is lifted a bit and smaller and my thighs don't wobble any more.
I also feel stronger.
I have more energy.
I didn't cry and get depressed when I tried clothes on in a changing room yesterday. It is a long time since I didn't leave a shop upset!

stevienickstophat · 08/03/2015 09:22

That's great, Helena.

Let's all put down one positive thing to turn this mood around Grin

OP posts:
stevienickstophat · 08/03/2015 09:27

God I can't believe I posted the same massive whinge twice Blush

What a dick Grin

OP posts:
AmazonGrace · 08/03/2015 09:36

You've not been negative, this is a great place to let off steam too!

If you look up weight gain after starting excercising there are lots of links to the reasons why & it's ok, it's good in a way, although it doesn't feel it. Perhaps someone who knows more about this will be on later. Feel better now & just about to do another sesh Grin

PeaceOfWildThings · 08/03/2015 09:37

Yes. I have a very wobbly tummy and a muffin top...I cannot even get the jeans I want to wear on! But I know, bit by bit, my body is getting stronger. It doesn't matter if I've gained weight, that could mean my bones are heavier and denser and better able to support the muscle mass I'm going to be developing.

This thread isn't about weight, it's about fitness and health, and ttthat's what we need to focus on.

So yesterday I did selected highlights of a '100 calorie burn' cardio/pilates/weights workout. Mostly I needed the stretches. Today I'm going to concentrate on getting warmed up and moving.
