Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

I did this for the first time yesterday - warm-up and fat burner only - and am amazed at the fact that my legs are aching today!

I need to work around toddlers who think that I'm dancing and cry if I don't carry them while I work out Confused, so I'm mostly going to work out on my WFH days and while the kids nap at the weekend....

PeaceOfWildThings · 26/02/2015 12:51

Each morning this week I have been doing a few squats, stretches, star jumps, press ups, step ups (using a loo) and burpees. I twisted my ankle and bruised my knee at the weekend and didn't feel ready for following a video yet. Is this the sort of thing in any of the videos?

Have been very achy and stiff in places, just with the little I've done!

Hoping this weekend, that DH can help me get a couple of these on my phone and onto a TV screen. Which 2 do you recommend?

Moodykat · 26/02/2015 13:16

Conference room commandeering was successful and a nice little 20 minute stretching yoga session completed - along with a work friend for company!

Although I am aching today I am actually feeling really good. I swear I feel a little more toned, my belly seems a teeny bit flatter. I've not been at it very long or very hard but to even imagine noticing something is a massive step forward for me.

Bring on tomorrow morning!

AmazonGrace · 26/02/2015 13:41

Hello you lovely lot!

I've skipped the last couple of mornings, had lousy nights sleep and much to my annoyance I didn't get up as early as I would have liked.

Onwards and upwards though, just completed my warm up and fat burner.

Can I say how much I love it when Davina says, "Well Done" at the end of the session, I feel like she's talking to me personally Grin

I might even do one more now I've warmed up. Yes, going to go for legs, see you in 7!

AmazonGrace · 26/02/2015 13:51

Woosh!!! Legs done and dusted!

What I also love is that they state that the fat burning carries on once you've finished, this I like very much indeed. That pecan slice I had earlier should be burning off quite nicely!

BuzzardBird · 26/02/2015 14:21

I haven't purchased it yet as waiting for physio appt. Would you advise a yoga mat or similar for someone with a totally fooked lower back? Anything else?
I am going to get it and prepare myself for physio

HemanOrSheRa · 26/02/2015 14:30

I did the fat burner and the tone and sculpt BEFORE I WENT TO WORK THIS MORNING!!! That is a first for me. I hummed and hawed about whether I'd have time and thought 'just do the fat burner, it's 10 mins.' Checked the time after that and squeezed in the sculpt and tone too. Exercise, shower, hair and make up done in a hour. Feeling very pleased with myself!

Peace definitely get the fatburner section. It has the warm up at the beginning and is a good all rounder. The other section would depend on what area you want to work on. The tone and sculpt is good for upper body, arms and back (abs too - it involves push ups). The tone and burn is good for arms, legs and abs and nearly killed me! I haven't done any of the others except the box fit which I had trouble with as I have very little co ordination and got jumbled up with which arm I should be punching with Confused.

anniepanniepears · 26/02/2015 18:10

wow!!! someone asked me at work today if I had lost weight..well chuffed me lol

Floopledoop · 26/02/2015 18:23

showy thank you for the excellent advice/instructions on the abs section. I'd been doing it wrong but I did the abs after time and burn this morning and did it properly this time!

Small difference is that my heels now touch my bum (when required!)

stevienickstophat · 26/02/2015 18:37

The Differences are coming thick and fast now!

Well done all!

I didn;t do anything yesterday as I went on a long walk.

I just did fat burner and box fit.

I am still shocked by my level of unfitness :( I have been here before and know before long I will be able to do hundreds of squats and sprint like I did at the gym a couple of years ago, but I need to be patient while starting from scratch. I will ache again in the morning but while it is a pain I like knowing I have done something. My poor body has been neglected for so long!

I just bought her 15 minute DVD as well as I tend to get bored quickly.

I hope to do some more tomorrow depending on my leg soreness, although sometimes it is better to work through it.

Sallystyle · 26/02/2015 18:52

I also need to buy some heavy weights as I plan to get back into heavy lifting eventually.

I cancelled my gym membership ages ago but I prefer working out at home.

If anyone is interested in heavy lifting I strongly recommend Charlean extreme if you can find it dowloadit. She is from Beach Body and not only is she awesome at weight lifting she does a lot of dance type workouts with many fat burners, but they are 45 minutes long. Turbo jam is awesome but I am not fit enough for them yet.

Star8181 · 26/02/2015 18:54

I've been lurking for a while but seeing people's success has spurred me on to get toned and lose a few pounds. I've bought the DVD and going to do my first session once the kiddies are in bed.
I'm using my fitness pal too at the mo as it stops me from snacking - anyone any idea how many calories are in each section? I guess it depends on what you do Grin

stevienickstophat · 26/02/2015 19:13

Not feeling too well, so having another day off Sad

Disappointed.

OP posts:
Showy · 26/02/2015 19:59

Don't feel disappointed stevie. If you're not well, working out is counterproductive. You won't lose a jot of the progress you've made and will pick it up where you left off. You absolutely must be proud of yourself. No punishing yourself for being human. Take that rest.

Heman, not sure if it will help you but when you're in the stance for each box fit section, you always start with the side which is angled forward. So you start off with a jab/cross and your left foot is stepped forward slightly. This means you start the jab with your left hand. When you switch to your right foot forward, you jab with your right hand first. That's the easiest way to get it right. Leading foot = leading hand.

AmazonGrace · 26/02/2015 20:02

Don't be disappointed Stevie, tomorrow is another day and you've done amazing things so far, starting this thread for one Grin

Lizzylou · 26/02/2015 20:03

Box fit is my absolute favourite.
Still loving the abs, that tuck thing makes it all seem more worthwhile.
Need to do advanced abs next.

And yes, if you are ill, don't exercise, it's not good!

Auburnsparkle · 26/02/2015 20:07

Don't feel bad having a day off. I haven't done any today. Am so sore and worn out. Back at it tomorrow hopefully. Muscles need to rest and repair anyway.

AlfieandAnnieRose · 26/02/2015 20:26

Ok I've been following this thread and have a question. I've finished the 30 day shred and looking for a new workout now, do you think the davina workout would be too easy to progress onto after the shred?

I like a workout that challenges you and where you see changes quite soon (or I lose motivation!), so I am liking the sound of the Davina workout from what people have been saying on here. And also that it's short! But worried it would be too easy.

Showy · 26/02/2015 20:57

AlfieandAnnie (I love Shirley Hughes!). I do think you'd be fine with it. Each section is 7 minutes but there are 10 sections and you mix it up according to what you want to work and your fitness levels. You can make it as hard as you want. I find the Shred too cardio lite personally. I always had to do two levels or go for a run afterwards.

If you like Jillian though and want noticeable improvement, I cannot recommend her Six Week Six Pack enough. It is obviously a bit longer than the 30 Day Shred but if you particularly want results where your core is concerned, it is marvellous.

FiddleDeDiddleDeDoo · 26/02/2015 20:59

I have got i! Haven't opened it yet but hey, its a start! This thread has proper inspired me!

Auburnsparkle · 26/02/2015 21:47

I felt guilty and just did the Abs and the legs one. Blimey - need a lie down! Tell me this will get easier!

AlfieandAnnieRose · 26/02/2015 22:25

Great, thanks Showy just what I needed to know! I'm tempted to get six week six pack now.

Yes I'm a big fan of Shirley Hughes' books! Smile

HemanOrSheRa · 26/02/2015 22:51

Thanks for the tip regarding the boxfit section showy. That makes much more sense. I'll give it another go!

stevienickstophat · 27/02/2015 06:53

Thank you kind people. I was asleep by about seven last night. Got some kind of bug. I'm going to wait until I'm properly well. No point punishing myself.
I'll just keep reading the thread to inspire me! You lot are doing so well!
