Bloody hell - that 7 min Davina exercise DVD

It works!

I've been at it a week. Before that, did fuck all exercise for YEARS. Ended up with a bad knee every time I tried running etc so gave up.

This was a last ditch attempt to stop my body basically falling off, and I was attracted by the fact it would all be done in seven minutes and at least I could tell myself I'd done something.

It actually frigging works.

(Promise I don't work for Davina. Booble plate, river of sweetcorn, cube of poo, pombears, elderly Korean lady.)

But if there is anyone who was like me, who hates exercise and just generally CBA with gyms etc, this is cracking.

Excellent news BadPoet

Thanks for that Showy, I will try out your tips for warming up after exercise, it is exactly as you say - so cold it doesn't matter how many layers or radiators I hug I am a shivering wreck! I will see how I get on!

For those of you with a lot of weight to lose I was a size 24 about 3 years ago and just started eating healthier and exercising daily - I was down to a size 12 in just over a year, have maintained the same size for about 2 years and have gone from being a serious exercise dodger to now running at least 10k a day 7 days a week at 42. (despite dodgy knees, aches and pains etc before)

Find something that you enjoy and keeps you motivated and stick to it as well as a healthy diet and it really does work - I would never have believed it a few years ago but now I don't look back and love to keep fit. Good luck to you all, you really can do it :-)

Cheeky wee fat burner this morning and yesterday. I've been ill for a while and am completely out of shape. It felt good Grin

knew it, you are all spring chickens in comparison Grin.

Watching this thread with interest. I looked at some of the free apps but they need equipment like chair (our dining chairs are too rickety) and wall (we have stuff crammed against most walls!). Can anyone tell me if Davina's dvd needs equipment other than a mat and weights please? I am poised to buy if it doesn't! (not literally poised - I'm in my teabreak at work so probably can't check back until lunchtime!) Thank you!

Gah, sorry for double-post

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 16/02/2015 10:39

The shred annoys me.

What is the name of the Davina DVD (or have you mentioned it upthread and I've missed it..?).

stevienickstophat · 16/02/2015 10:49

It's called Davina 7 Minute Fit.

As far as I know you just need hand weights. I haven't come across any workouts that need anything else.

Up to now I've got by with a hearth rug and a tin of tuna!

I thought it might be a good idea to post the Little Differences we notice as we get fitter, to keep us motivated when we don't automatically drop two dress sizes. What does everyone think?

My little differences today are:

When I was shaving my legs in the shower (stay with me) I noticed that I had lifted my leg really high, my back didn't hurt and I wasn't wobbling. That's my core strength improving, right?

And when I changed the duvet cover I didn't get out of breath and need a sit down after. And my arms didn't ache, either. Yes, that's how unfit I was two weeks ago Blush

Smile That's a really good idea stevie. It sounds like you'll have a washboard stomach before long Grin

I haven't done anything yet today, my legs are really hurting still from yesterday's attempts. I'm going to go out and get some new trainers to try and motivate me.

stevienickstophat · 16/02/2015 11:08

Yeah, I suddenly want new trainers!

Why not work another area and give your legs a rest?

Thanks Stevie that's good to know

PulpsNotFiction · 16/02/2015 11:31

Marking place! I've downloaded it. And watched the tutorial, just need to get out of my dressing gown...............

stevienickstophat · 16/02/2015 11:39

Come on, pulps!

This girl can!

Well I need all the help I can get. Nipped into supermarket for a loaf and Davina jumped into my basket. So I'm just getting myself ready to unwrap it and see what it's about.

I take it I actually have to do the exercises too:)

I'll let you know how I get on

stevienickstophat · 16/02/2015 11:48

Great, Den!

Welcome to the thread!

Did the fat burner! HE dd did it too (PE - tick!)

I enjoyed it. I'm used to the 30 day shred (as in, I used to do the shred) and it wasn't as hard as that - but then it's a third of the length. I can see how the little movements and exercises could make a difference over time and after a shower and a cuppa I am feeling pleasantly achy. I'll do this as often as I can for the next couple of weeks and then probably download the rest.

I used 1.5kg weights - leftover from shred days. I was using beans then ordered a set of 2x1kg, 2x1.5kg and 2x3kg from Tesco and when they arrived I knew it must be them as I hadn't ordered anything else - delivery man warned me the box was too heavy for me but I tensed and prepared and took it without blinking haha. Let's hope this can get me as strong as that again. Thanks Stevie

stevienickstophat · 16/02/2015 12:32

Sounds great, poet

Kudos on getting DD to do it. One of mine could use more exercise, but nothing doing.

OP posts:
ItsaTenfromDen · 16/02/2015 12:38

OK, so I did the warm up, the fat burner and the stretching, defo enough for day one for a fifty something, 3 stone overweight gal :)

On week three of weightwatchers so hope this will help along with that

Thanks for the heads up OP, although I may think differently tomorrow morning:)

SheHasAWildHeart · 16/02/2015 13:19

Downloaded from iTunes yesterday. DD is away at her dads so a free evening to try out 1 (maybe 2?) episodes?

withaspongeandarustyspanner · 16/02/2015 13:33

Would it be suitable for a 9 year old, PE avoiding DD?

stevienickstophat · 16/02/2015 13:34

Go for it, wildheart

I think it's inspiring, this thread. I'm imagining loads of women up and down the country leaping around their living rooms! How brilliant!
